Electronics are largely overpriced compared to other places. Sometimes buy items like Pokemon cards here, however recently, one of the managers has been buying all the cards off the shelves hours before opening so he can scalp and resell them before any customer has a chance. Pretty sure he's not allowed to resell using his employee discount, but the store does nothing. read more

Been a long long time since I stepped in any Best Buy. I wanted to do some Black Friday recon. I was pleased by the selection of laptops. I circled around to see what was on the shelves. Very much still the same electronics store without the CDs and not as many DVDs. I was asked if I needed any help four times. Not a bad thing because I was wandering around the entire store. I purchased my computer from there 4 years ago. Friday night it just shut off all I was using it. I was not sure if it was the power supply or if it was the computer. Is an all-in-one so it was pretty easy to load my car and take the Best buy. Originally I was just looking for a cord. Was greeted promptly and asked if I needed help was giving a 65 W charger that would fit my port. Mine is not a charger it is a power supply. But I thought maybe it was going to work. It did not I returned it then telling them I'm 45 minutes away I need it to buy a computer or I need to buy a cord either or I need to get this fixed today. He wanted to try and then sell me a hundred watt charger. I even asked the person at geek squad if I could have them look at my computer and tell me if it was the power cord or the computer either way I was going to buy one today. I was informed that they do not have power supplies to test to see if it is my computer or power cord.... So my question is if a customer's power cord is bad how are they going to figure that out If they don't have test ones? Needless to say I left with no court and no computer. In my attempt to find a cord, I went to Cash loan and security and I'll tell you Harrison and their electronics department helped me more than what the place where I purchased my computer did. Evidently the floor sales personnel need additional training. Associate looked at my mother's charger cord and selected the appropriate charger to go with it, and ASSURED us it was the right size. When we get home (we live 30 minutes away), we discover he lied. Now we can't use it and can't get a refund until the next time we come into town. I suppose we should have opened the box and checked immediately after purchase, but why should we have to? Is it too much to ask that employees actually know what they're talking about? We'll take our chances on Amazon before shopping here again. And that's a shame, because we'd rather support local business, but if you're going to make it impossible to do so, we won't. read more

I went to Best Buy to purchase replacement car audio system for my 2015 Subaru Outback. After numerous trips to the store and phone calls to Kenwood, I picked a unit that both Best Buy and Kenwood said would work with my car. On the day before the installation, Sunday, November 3rd, I was called by the installer and told that the sales associate who had placed the order had not ordered all of the parts needed for the installation. I went to the store and was assured that if I purchased the additional parts that the install would be good to go the next day as scheduled. The next morning I took the car to Best Buy and was told it would take 2.5 hours to do the work. I came back to the store 2.5 hours later and had to wait an additional 1 hour before the installer called me to come into the shop. He then proceeded to tell me that he had installed the unit and could not get the sound to come through the speakers. He then explained that he had reinstalled the original unit and there was nothing else he could do. I had just wasted at least 6 hours of my time purchasing and waiting for the install that never worked. I then called Kenwood and they said that the installer must have missed something because they have not heard of any problems with installations in a 2015 Subaru Outback. I then called Crutchfield, another retailer for Kenwood, and they reported the same information: no problems with a 2015 Subaru Outback. If that wasn't bad enough, today, November 5th, 2019 I find out that Best Buy had contacted Sirius XM and had my radio subscription cancelled. So I am now trying to solve that problem. When I called Sirius Xm they said that they were notified that the original radio in my Outback was being replaced and therefore no longer in service.Very frustrated!! In fairness, the people at Best Buy, the salesman and the installer were very cordial. That being said they did not know what they were doing. When I mention this to the store manager, she said that there was nothing she could do to compensate me for my lost time or issue with XM. Beware if you deal with the audio department at the Best Buy in Lafayette, IN. They talk a good story but unfortunately in my case were totally incompetent. read more

I have spent so many thousands of dollars at this store. I've purchased every warranty, upgraded every phone and tried to be a low maintenance customer. I recently had two visits where this big fat girl working was SUPER rude. I was dealing with a nice guy and he had some additional questions about the AppleCare+ warranty, so he called her over. PSA: DO NOT BUY THE WARRANTIES! they make a commission off you, but the warranty never covers the issue you have on your device. the big fat girl continued to tell me that her hands are tied and there's nothing they can do. Why have a customer service center then? why sell me a warranty if it doesn't do anything? you did NOTHING for me! Apple did nothing for me! The tech world is a total scam. You all have SHADY practices. then, when I told her it sounds like I just need to pay the phone off and be done with both Best Buy AND Apple, she chuckled like I couldn't afford to pay it off. absolute worst customer service i've ever seen. lowest quality products i've ever seen. My daughter had a tablet and we had the geek squad protection plan on it. Well. It broke and we went to get it fixed, they told us we could pick out a new tablet since hers was pretty much beyond repair. So this is where the bad part of the review comes in. The first guy we seen pretty much told us he was not helping us because we had Dallas Cowboys shirts on and he didn't like them (pretty ridiculous if you ask me). So we found someone else. She was talking to us about the tablets and I decided to look more into the amazon fire kids tablets. I specifically asked her if I could get YouTube kids on it. She says yes. So I told her we were going to continue to look a bit and I'd let her know if we decided on it. Asked another employee if we could get YouTube kids on it. He said "yeah it's already on there, you just can't see what's on there because of the demo mode. But if it isn't on there then you can easily just download it." So I said "so I can still get it on there when it's an amazon tablet?" He says yes. So now I am stuck with a tablet that my daughter doesn't even like because she can't watch Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, or any other video for that matter. (Only gave 2 stars because the guy at Geek Squad was very helpful and understanding.) Will update review if problem gets resolved. read more

Since my previous TV lasted 15 years, I went online to do some research before heading to Best Buy to look for a 4K TV, sound bar, and Blu-Ray / DVD player. I was greeted by Matt, an experienced sales consultant. He was very knowledgeable and willing to answer my questions. In addition, he made helpful suggestions and went above and beyond in checking delivery schedules, available discounts, etc. Although assembly is planned for this weekend, I wanted to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Matt and to let prospective buyers know that, at least in this instance, customer service is alive and well. If I were only rating the customer service I received, I would be giving 5 stars. Some of their pricing / warranty / delivery systems (you had to be there) resulted in an overall rating of 4 stars. read more

The store and corporate office are both very unhelpful. We purchased a Car stereo for our daughters car in January 2020. The original install was scheduled in February, It the got pushed to March due to a sick technician, In March they did not reschedule the appointment for enough time so we got pushed to April. Then it got canceled due to COVID with no reschedule. In mid June we were told to visit the store the following day by one of the corporate customer service agents for immediate install, no appointment needed because of all of the issues we have had.. My wife left work early the next day to have the stereo installed only to find out that the store still could not install it. read more

We all know what to expect when going to Best Buy but still do it anyways.. I didn't expect what just happened, though. I paid for a car stereo and installation package and was told it would be done in an hour. Two hours later, I get a call that it is done and I still owed $99 because I didn't pay for installation (what was the other $200 for then)! My car was then held for ransom as Danny the Home Section Manager and the installation guy that used to sing for Sugar Ray called me a liar and were just outright rude. The original sales guy felt very bad as I paid the negotiated $50 ransom so I could get out of there because I had places to be. I will never go back and urge you to do the same!! read more

I've had many interactions with people at this store and unfortunately as of last night I will never shop there again. I went into the store to get software that would allow me to use windows on my iMac. I was told that this one program called parallels would be perfect for what I wanted to do. After asking the associate if there was anything else I needed to make the program work, I was assured that nothing else was needed. After getting home and installing program I come to find out that a windows install disk or image file was needed. I proceeded to call the store and express my misunderstanding with customer service and was rudely told there was nothing they could do to fix the misunderstanding and that they would be more than happy to sell me windows. After explaining the situation they were not willing to offer even an apology for the lack of customer service I received. Do not ever purchase the TV from Best Buy. Please also let them deliver it home. I got a sharp TV from Best Buy on Oct.20th. Because I decide to take it home with me so I can watch it when I get back home. I did took special care of the TV and I assume the TV was fine. However, when I plug in the TV, the Internal TV was damaged.There is some crack inside of the screen. As long as I turn the tv on, I can see the cracks in TV. (I did not check the TV at the store before paying) The physical part of the tv was fine.There is no physical damage. I took it back to Best Buy the next day. I walked in with the TV without saying a word. The manager came to me said I can not return it. She said she will not have a conversation with me about returning the TV. They asked me to call Sharp directly and they will not do anything about the TV. I personally do not think Best Buy should have all the responsibilities about the tv damage. However, the way the manager handles this situation is rude and impatient. It is unbelievable how person like her will be in this position. I will never ever be a customer of Best Buy. We've purchased our last appliance from Best Buy. We ordered a dryer online, ordered all the extra parts that Best Buy says you have to buy in order to have a gas dryer installed (parts we already owned for our current gas dryer) and called the number to set up installation. I was told since we ordered the extra (almost $100) worth of parts that we were set and the delivery people would install. I pointed out that we bought a gas dryer and there should be a separate appointment. I was told "no" you're all set. I now have an uninstalled dryer and the soonest they can get here is Friday. I've talked to the Geek Squad installation services and a supervisor and they can't help me. If someone at Best Buy doesn't know their job, it becomes the customer's problem and the customer goes to the end of the line. The delivery men and the Geek Squad employees told me this a known problem with the 1-888-237-8289 number. If it's a known problem, the someone should fix it or the company should be flexible enough to fix the problem for the customer immediately, not 3 days later. read more
