My issue was resolved as I went to the store. Manager and associates were professional and provided great service.

I went to Geek Squad after taking the time to first phone their customer service line and confirm they offered the service I was looking for. I was informed they did, but when I got to their Red Deer location I was told that they would "absolutely not" help with my issue in the most arrogant and dismissive way possible. I understand that mix ups happen, but basic manners cost nothing, and nobody appreciates that kind of attitude. They don't seem to care about inconveniencing their customers, or even extending basic courtesy, so I won't be back. read more

ZERO STARS DO NOT SHOP HERE! Bought an rog ally didnt work off the bat and they wanted 50$ to work on it (700$ machine thats a month old) and it only ran windows 10 i can live with that sent it to acer got it fixed for free since i only used it twice. week after i get it back i tried to trade it in on a laptop and was offered 100 dollars value kept it of course and spent another 1300 on a laptop that would not update and the screen flickered on and off. took it back and apparently they didnt have a single laptop of the same spec that i needed for a 7k course i paid for and wanted me to spek nd more money for a less capable laptop or they could not help me. when i asked for my money back their manager scoffed and laughed saying good luck buying elsewhere and ill see you soon. im out OVER 8k because i could find a laptop in time and the used one i had to buy crashed. they want you money and nothing else ( 1 young man did and oustanding job helping customers) very poor managment if my truck hadnt broke down id drive to edmonton or calgary before coming close to this best buy. go anywhere else read more

Horrible customer service, called them about a defective item I received, I made the lady on the phone completely aware of my situation and how the item was damaged. She was very polite and nice to talk to and had told me that shouldn't be a problem and that they will exchange the item. I made sure she knew all the details as I was driving from Rocky Mountain house and didn't want to drive all the way to red deer if they weren't going to exchange it. What can I say? It's a Best Buy. Been in one, been in all of them. The layouts are even identical, so you can find your way through any of them blindfolded. I like this location, because for whatever reason this location has a slower rotation of stack than many of the Best Buys in Edmonton. I've bought Wii's, Call of Duty, iPhone stuff and all that by just walking in even on a weekend, when the same stuff is sold out solid in Edmonton. It's even less crowded most of the time. Since I come to town at least once a month. I often buy on the web and opt to pick up at the Red Deer store and they just hold the item for me and I get it on the way in. I was into Best Buy to buy ink for my printer which takes the 64cartridge. I wanted to buy the XL so that I don't need to keep refilling them but I was told I had to shop on line for that product . We bought into the Geek Squad membership last fall under the understanding that we would be able to receive discounts on our purchases. Well I do NOT like shopping on line first of all and why sell the printers if you are not going to stock the ink for people especially after you have promoted your Geek Squad promo. I find Best buy is ALL about selling with little white lies attached for a better look at the time of sale but doesn't really care later about standing behind their words. So disappointed. read more

Update: So my hard drive piled up, and because of my recent disliking of London Drugs (over how they handled my need to do work on my iMac)(I don't care what Apple says, I'm not the typical end user), and with Future Shop being absorbed by Best Buy..... Well, Best Buy it is. I think one out of five visits, I came out of the store with what I was looking for... I seem to have the innate ability of having staff avoid me when I enter the store, and end up spending too much time trying to find someone to help, only to find out they don't have what I'm looking for. I've experienced better elsewhere. But part of that is on me, not knowing the layout of the store. This last visit, buying a hard drive, it didn't take me long to find what I was looking for.. No one asked me if I needed a hand looking for something, but they didn't really need to help me this time. read more

I've been calling their phone # for 3 1/2 hours, and have had nothing but an automation come on. It gives me options, I select 1 , it rings forever, then I get re-routed to do it all over again. Came here to get my computer fixed. After a couple snooty staff and a technician that then talked to me like I was a bother I finally got my computer booked in for repair. After being told that the repair would be over $350 and them having it for over a week I finally just asked for it back. I took it to Staples in Parkland Mall on the suggestion of a friend after telling them about this awful experience. The technician at Staples the tech took great care of me, explaining everything and even getting my computer running as good if not better than new. In the end I paid only $99. Don't waste your time at this "Best" Buy. read more

My friend spilt a full cup of water all over my keyboard, I quickly tried to wipe it off, turn my computer upside down in hopes the water would drip out, I tried blowing on the keyboard to attempt to get the water out in a panic. Then i packed up all my school books and computer, peeled out to the Red Deer Best Buy in hopes that I still had Geek Squad protection on my computer. My friend spilt water on my computer no more than 30 minutes ago after arriving at Best Buy. There was a lady that I talked to in Geek squad that did not have any clue what to do, so she grabbed her co worker with a Best Buy shirt on to ask him what we could do. First thing he says... "How old is your computer" in a snotty tone. My computer is no more than 3 years old. Then the lady proceeds to tell him what happened, and I was astonished at the poor remark he chose to say to me... "Electricity and water don't mix, your computer is fucked". and WALKED AWAY FROM ME. Ummmmmm, you don't think I know that?????????? That's why I sped to Best Buy in hopes that the geek squad or some best buy employee could try to point me in the right direction. I was absolutely furious at his response to my situation. I am in school and cannot afford a new computer, so I was livid with his poor response, poor choice of words and tone. I did not catch his name but he had shoulder length hair with a poor British Accent. I will not be purchasing from BestBuy anymore. This is written by my son. Not good what they have done to him. I was a Best Buy customer. bought our computer there, our cameras, years of prepaid GeekSquad.....most of our electronics, this is where I'd go. I was a Chase Best Buy card holder. But NOW, you guys have done this changeover with Desjardins from Chase as your finance company. Got my new card in the mail, was told it automatically switches as of the 14th of April. I called Desjardins to find out what my balance was....to my surprise, the automated system told me that my available balance was $0 and my credit limit was $0. Funny, seen as before the changeover, I had a $1500 limit and a balance of roughly $900. So I spoke with somebody at Desjardins, who said that they don't have my files or my account and to call Chase, to which I did. Chase told me that I can make my payment to their card but I cannot use it, as the account was closed when the changeover became effective and to call Desjardins. So again, I called Desjardins, who could not tell me ANYTHING! NOBODY can tell what happened to my Best Buy card, or my account. Funny thing is, I'm trying to buy a house, and Desjardins reported to my Equifax as a new creditor!!!! When I asked them why they were reporting if I don't have an account with them, they said it was a mistake and I will have to do all the work to have it removed!!!! Adding a creditor to Equifax while trying to buy a house is NOT helpful to me at all!!!!! So now, I have this creditor on my Equifax that DOES NOT EXIST TO ME!!!! And because of YOUR mistakes, I have to mess around, take my time ( which is not a lot as I work away) to try and have this removed. Needless to say, I am NOT happy. But I'm sure Visions is as they just gained a new customer. I will NEVER step foot into a Best Buy, or Future Shop again in my lifetime, nor will anybody in my family as they are also pissed about this. Thanks for nothing but headache for what once was a very committed customer. I will be running out my 3 years of prepaid GeekSquad, than will never renew. Lots of workers but no one knows anything. My phone camera broke so I went in to talk to the staff about fixing it. I walked in and 3 people where at the front door. They all welcomed me. I told them I wanted to fix my phone and they told me to go to the phone section. I did and there was a guy at the desk helping someone. I was waiting for about 20 min and no one came to help. Another guy came too and he was waiting behind me. I waited about 20 min and staff was walking everywhere and no one came to help us. Eventually abkut 40 minuites in a older lady walks in to the fromt of the desk and immediately a guy comes out of nowhere and helps her! Me and this other guy waiting was just amazed! I went to the computer section and the guy asked if I need help. I said I want to get my phone fixed and he said I have to wait where I already was. I said I was there for 45 minutes already and he shrugged and said there was nothing I can do. I bought 2 new galaxy Samsung S 5 phones on January 1,2015. I purchased there $300 warranty as I don't have a credit card and couldn't do monthly payments. So I sent $600 plus only to find out there the small print attached... My son dropped his phone this morning and chipped the corner, so I sent him to Best Buy thinking we have warranty. Well this $300 warranty is only on BUTTON ISSUES or SOFTWARE ISSUES.. So I had to spend another $100, wait for this geek squad to mail us a box to mail his phone back in only for him to be out of a phone for upto 10 days? Also they suggested to BUY him a pre paid phone, so I had to pay another $160 some dollars so he can have a phone because a teenager without a phone is think a fish out of water. Lol. I need to know more about their warranty... If you have repaired a unit purchased new from you several times in the first year and it continues to quit operating for the same thing every time and best buy has been unable to fix the problem what do you do when the warranty runs out and the same problem that was the original problem is still not fixed.. I have been told that when that time comes Red Deer Best Buy's policy is " too bad you should have purchased the extended warranty" If the problem cant be fixed before the original warranty runs out should they not replace the unit because it has been operating in a faulty manner since the original purchase.. I am looking to upgrade my existing system but after hearing the "Best Buy" customer service policy I may need to look elsewhere... read more

Turns out the 'computer' system had routed our visit to the Calgary store and they just didn't bother to come.
