There were candles and candle holders, some Christmas decor, lamps, painted figurines, glass jars, some ceramics, clocks, novelty napkins, furniture, pillows and signs with the names of NJ shore towns on them, and nautical-themed decorations. (This is, after all, the Jersey shore!) I saw shiny aluminum dishes (or maybe they were ashtrays) shaped like life-sized flip-flop sandals, and carved wooden "bathing beauties" painted with vintage bathing suits. There were cast iron hooks shaped like lighthouses and shells. There was a lot of "faux food"--I guess you're supposed to put a fake cake or pie on your un-used dining room table, though I'd always rather consider a REAL cake or pie. There was quite a range of fabric samples to be chosen for upholstery on the furniture offerings. Interesting stuff, both for those shopping to furnish a home, as well as for smaller shore-themed gifts and decorations.

He brings us to these beds that are again not what we want and he gave more disgruntled noises rolling his eyes (keep in mind he appeared to be in his late 50's-60's) then when he saw me look at the kids section (where they had twins sized frames) he stated with a chuckle "No you don't want those, they're for childish people" and brought us to a pull out couch. He "demonstrates" stating "and you don't even have to be strong to lift this up!" And pulls it out stating "sit" pointing to it. We declined. He says again "sit" we say again "no you were okay" he says a third time "well this is how you decide if you want it and this is where people sit down so...sit". By this point I'm fed up and so is my husband. He tells Mike "you know what we're going to shop around and leave". Mike insists we get pricing on it (and as a former sales person at a car dealership I knew this is how they get your info) we said again "no thanks" he insisted and got visibly angered and gritted his teeth saying "well ya know that's my business card and how you know who I am so you need to do it". Worst part is, I actually saw a frame I liked, but hey, guess since it's for "childish" people only (which is precisely what he is) he won't mind not getting paid on it.

I placed an order for a couch and was told it would arrive within seven to ten days. After four phone calls, I kept getting the same line: "Customer Service isn't in." When she finally did call back, she said she was still waiting for an email from the warehouse. This seems to be a pattern with them. I then asked for my salesman, Sean, to call me. He did--but instead of helping, he told me he didn't understand why I was upset. He even added that I'm not his only customer and that "the customer is not always right." In addition, he told me he was sorry I was having a bad day. That alone says everything about how their communication has changed over the years. Sean told me he put me on the schedule for April 13th, but I'm not sure how that's possible if they're still "waiting for an email" confirming the couch is even in. So yes, I was told April 13th, but I have zero confidence it will actually be delivered. At this point, I'm expecting the usual excuse--damaged, delayed, or some other story--just like so many people have reported on Yelp. This will be may last deal with this store and I will certainly not in good faith recommend them to anyone I know. Stay tuned!

Absolutely appalling experience with Ashley Furniture - avoid at all costs…read more I purchased a couch from Ashley Furniture in Toms River, NJ on November 15, 2024, along with their 5-year ProtectAll extended protection plan. Less than a year later, in fact -ONLY 6 MONTHS LATER the couch developed serious issues with the reclining mechanism and pinching--clear signs of a manufacturing defect and safety concern. I reached out on June 1, 2025, to begin a warranty claim and was immediately bounced back and forth between Ashley Furniture and ProtectAll. I followed up again on June 2 and June 3, during business hours, and still couldn't get a straight answer from either party aside from "we made note and someone will call you back." But no word over WHO was responsible. On June 11, Ashley informed me it would take over six weeks just to get the part needed for repair and another month after that to schedule a technician. A 10+ week delay is absolutely unacceptable for a couch under warranty. On June 12, I contacted the Toms River location directly, and while I was told a regional manager would contact me over the weekend, what I got instead was a call on June 13 from a rude customer service supervisor telling me Ashley Furniture no longer wants to work with me regarding this issue--despite the warranty still being active and the defect clearly falling under its terms. This company has shown zero accountability, offers horrendous customer service, and refuses to honor their warranty. I've since filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am pursuing further action. I paid good money for what I was told would be a "worry-free" piece of furniture, and instead I'm left with a non-functional and unsafe couch and no support. Buyer beware.

Buyer beware! Merchandise of poor quality, terrible service, and will not honor warrantees…read more My husband and I bought a black reclining sofa with a matching reclining chair. The person at the store helping us really talked it up and the 5 year warrantee. That put us at ease... that if something happens to the furniture, we call and they repair it. Well, like other reviewers are stating, they don't follow through. But first, let me discuss the horrendous delivery. The guys dropped the sofa off the truck and slid it across our snow-covered lawn. They quickly assembled it in our living room and tried to have us sign off that everything was fine and that we accept it. I asked them to wait while I looked it over. One side was broken and I pointed it out. They tried to fix it but couldn't. I wouldn't sign for it. They took it back. Next delivery was weeks later but everything was in working order. I do however want to point out that they slid the large heavy boxes across the carpeting and created a large wrinkle though. Not too long after the purchase date, both of the items needed to be repaired. We called and were immediately told that we were outside of our warrantee. When we said that we were looking at the paperwork and read off the purchase date, they were like, oh, yeah, I see that now. We explained what needed to be repaired and they said it wasn't covered. We said we were looking at the warrantee and it stated that it was covered. She said that they couldn't repair anything because they don't make our furniture anymore. So even though what we needed repaired was covered and we were within the warrantee's allotted coverage time, they couldn't do anything.
