Went back to Michael's Furniture after seven years since my last purchase, and this experience has been nothing like before. I placed an order for a couch and was told it would arrive within seven to ten days. After four phone calls, I kept getting the same line: "Customer Service isn't in." When she finally did call back, she said she was still waiting for an email from the warehouse. This seems to be a pattern with them. I then asked for my salesman, Sean, to call me. He did--but instead of helping, he told me he didn't understand why I was upset. He even added that I'm not his only customer and that "the customer is not always right." In addition, he told me he was sorry I was having a bad day. That alone says everything about how their communication has changed over the years. Sean told me he put me on the schedule for April 13th, but I'm not sure how that's possible if they're still "waiting for an email" confirming the couch is even in. So yes, I was told April 13th, but I have zero confidence it will actually be delivered. At this point, I'm expecting the usual excuse--damaged, delayed, or some other story--just like so many people have reported on Yelp. Made 2 purchases months apart. Sofa set was delivered with a small unsewn section on the arm. The controller on a power lift recliner broke within 6 months of delivery. Took technician about 5 weeks to fix. Same problem occurred again 3 months later. Both times within the first year. Michaels refuses to address the problem. read more

this review has been long overdue since my wife and I purchased a couch from Michael's. With that being said, the service provided by Michael and his family was more than fantastic. My wife and I originally went to Ashley's and before we decided to buy from them, we were recommended to Michael and happy we were. He found us a great deal, which was much better than the chain furniture stores, and his customer service was personable and warming compared to what they do at the chain stores. I highly recommend everyone to shop at Michael's not only for the services, product quality and price, but also t support a family owned business. We've purchased several pieces from Michael's over the years and the only big issue was delayed delivery. We were warned by the salesman that it was a possibility due to the pandemic, and wound up being upsold from something coming from overseas to something made in the U.S. which "meant a quicker arrival." The delivery people have always been nice and professional. The quality of the pieces we've purchased is usually pretty good, no big problems so far. We recently went to Michael's looking for a single dresser and spotted a possible piece inside the "clearance" side of the showroom. The salesman showed us that it was damaged (a broken drawer) and quoted us a price over $300! For a broken piece of furniture! We've recently read some pretty disturbing reviews about horrendous customer service and refusals to correct items damaged before delivery. While we've been lucky enough to not have experienced these types of problems, the number of complaints posted makes us very hesitant to deal with this store again. read more

This is posted it in the Brick kind a like a little Facebook newsletter, but I was so disgusted by these peoples behavior and the great that's going around these days that I had to put it in here. I hope the author doesn't mind. I purchased approximately $5,000 worth of furniture from Michael's Furniture on Brick Blvd as a repeat customer and also referred my mother who bought $1,000 recliner in October. While I was waiting for the furniture to come in I decided that I wanted a matching chair to a piece I bought there 4 years ago. I was told that the chair was still available and ordered it. I received delivery of the chair and most of my items but still have a table that didn't come in yet. Immediately upon delivery I noticed that the chair I received was the same chair however, the fabric lot was different and wouldn't work to have the chairs side by side. They refused to take the chair back and said they would research it. The fabric lot has changed and I cannot get an exact match to the chair. If I was told this was a possibility, I would not have ordered the chair. The chair was $499 and I still owe approximately $500 for the table that I haven't received yet and asked for the credit to be applied to the money owed on the table. I was told no by the office staff and salesman and I must use the credit towards a new purchase. I escalated it to the owner and he was extremely rude and refused anything but a store credit. I just bought $5,000 of furniture and do not need anything else. I feel that it is the business's responsibility to inform me that the chair fabric could possibly be different and not my responsibility as a customer to know that. I made my purchase here to support local small business and I am extremely disappointed with their customer service once my purchases were made. I do not want to purchase anything else from them so I either have a chair I can't use or a credit I won't use because of a chair that was not received as promised. If it was my fault, it was the only piece I bought and/or I did not have an equal balance due I would understand the "policy" more. I called the furniture chain stores and they couldn't believe that they wouldn't apply the credit towards my current amount due. I was also told by the owner Michael that writing an honest review to share my experience was equal to spitting in his face and he doesn't need customers like me. I even had to call the police because I couldn't handle them myself and they even had problems with them and advised me to take them to the court. If I didn't see it,I wouldn't believe it. Ordered furniture on 8/15/20. Contract states delivery on or about 10/15/20. They talked negative about another furniture store and said their was a problem with a brand that I tried to get comparative price. "We stopped doing business with that company because they were unreliable." I have been patient do to the pandemic and am still waiting for my furniture. Keep getting a different possible delivery date. Over 5 months and still waiting. Poor communication by Michael's. I only received possible dates when I called. Buyer beware. I just want to warn others before they make a similar mistake by trusting this business. Please check their rating and complaints on BBB. They deceived us and let us think they were refunding us money when instead they changed the dates on the contract and said oh just sign here for your refund. Now out chairs that we were promised for November say they won't be ready until end of March. The original paperwork with the November date they took and won't return to us and they won't give us our deposit back. They are professional scammers. I would give ZERO stars if that was possible. BUYER BEWARE- DO NOT BUY from this store! I thought this furniture store was a trustful family business, but it is not. I ordered a sofa on May 31, 2023. I was looking a for a sofa that was "in stock" so it would be delivered quickly. Mike Jr. ensured me that if I put in the order "immediately" that he could get it to me in 4 weeks. I shared with him that the timing was the most important thing to me. I would have never ordered it otherwise. At the end of June, I called for a status update from Mike Jr, (the person who sold me the sofa). This is when I started to get the run around. The lady that I spoke to said she couldn't give me any information on my delivery date. She also told me that Mike Jr was with a customer so I asked her to have him call me back. The following day, I got a phone call from the sister but not Mike Jr. The sister was rude. She told me that the sofa wouldn't be in until the first week of August. I asked for Mike Jr again, and the response was the same. He was with a customer. I let her know that Mike Jr said 4 weeks and her response was, that she didn't sell me the sofa. My response was, "that is exactly why I want to talk to Mike Jr." Again, I put in another request to have him call me back. He has NEVER, once gotten on the phone with me to help resolve this issue. I have made several follow up calls on July 8th, July 9, July 13th and these have all go unanswered by Mike Jr. On July 13th, I spoke with the same lady that usually answers the phone. She couldn't give me Mike Jr because he was with a customer again. I told her I would stay on hold until Mike was free. She put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back again, spoke to the sister and then Mike Sr got on the phone. The owner, Mike Sr is a tyrant. He attacked me on a personal level. He told me that I signed a contract and I should be smart enough to read it. I then requested a refund and Mike Sr, said no. My request is very simple. I want to talk to Mike Jr, the person who sold me the sofa and who promised me a 4 week delivery. It's now 7/14, and I still do not have the sofa, nor a firm delivery date or a call from Mike Jr. This is the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in my entire life. read more

My initial experience was a good one. I ordered a table and four chairs. Both were selected from a catalogue the week before Memorial Day 2023. The wait was long however I really thought i had gotten the deal of the century. Well not so much. Finally the delivery was scheduled for today 7/10/24. The first items to be unloaded were the chairs. Firstly in my memory the chairs were black.. They were not. They also appeared cheap (which later i discovered they are as I found online a set of 2 for $175.00. But that's not the worst of it. The attitude i got when I called was totally disrespectful To the extent that when I said I didn't want any of it I was threatened with legal action. Their rigid return policy leaves no wiggle room to negotiate. I asked for some flexibility and asked if i could possibly exchange the chairs for something that was more to my liking then the sales person (Sean i believe his name is) hung up on me. I put a deposit down which he said was completely refundable so I went home to do research on the expensive furniture I was going to buy. When I checked into it, that was a complete lie, not even close to solid wood and very overpriced. Would've done better with stuff I put together myself! Went back for my refund and this "hometown shop" all of a sudden couldn't refund my money.
