Should be renamed WORST Chicago Barbers Incredibly rude employees (two older ladies). Entered a few minutes after 5pm (web site and signs stated closed at 6pm). Was completely ignored for several minutes after entering and standing at the entrance to shop. Both ladies completely ignored me. I had to ask them if they were still open and then one lady decided to finally turn her attention to me and rudely asked "Do you want a haircut?" (Great question to ask someone who enters barber shop, no?) When I said yes she replied annoyed "well sit down and I'll give you a haircut." My wife sit down and I place my bag on a chair. Then she rudely states "Where's your mask?" - 21 JULY 2021 - to which I respond "I don't have one." (I've been fully vaccinated for over 5 months - no signs on door requiring one. And she angrily and even more rudely states "How do you come in here without a mask?" At this point I picked up my items and abruptly left. To say the shop is very basic and bare-bones would be an overstatement - a few 50's era barber chairs and that's about it. Very obvious there is ZERO pride taken in presenting a professional atmosphere. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT! read more

I've been going to 'Best Chicago Barber' (Helen) for about 6 months now, and love the experience. I've never had to wait (just make sure you call in advance), I get my shoes shined and with over 20 years of experience, the cuts look great. Great location right on Oak St., but not the Oak Street Prices. I was going to another Salon and was paying $70 for a cut, and still, Best Chicago Barber does a better job for half the cost. Best barbershop in Chicago. Period. I've been going to Helen for over 8 years, and will keep going as long as I'm in Chicago. I started going soon after Helen opened up her own shop on Oak. She had a barbershop in the Drake hotel before that (just down the street). It's a great, sort of old school barber shop in the best neighborhood in Chicago. You can get a straight razor shave, your shoes shined, while getting as good a haircut as you can find in Chicago. I've also brought my girlfriend on a few saturday's and she gets a manicure while I'm in Helen's chair. I highly recommend giving Best Chicago Barbers a shot at your next haircut and I promise you will have found your new regular barber. Helen does a great job with my haircut and she's quick, you're in and out in 15 minutes. Once in a while I get my shoes shined during my haircut. Warning: Groupon users should never go here. They treat ordinary customers and groupon customers differently and I didn't even get shampoo service. I really didn't enjoy my experience at Best Chicago Barbers. For starters, the shop is poorly lit and dingy. I also found Helen to be a bit abrasive. She spent the entire time knocking my previous barber and didn't listen to what I wanted at all. It seemed like she only knew how to cut a man's hair one way and was too busy to actually pay attention to what I wanted. She was too quick and impersonal. I won't be going back. read more
