I purchased the room online. When we showed up to check in they could not find our reservation. My partner said he would just pay for a room since he didn't thing I had already paid for it (which I did!) and when they went to charge us for a room she saw we in fact did have a room. After some time researching the problem she said that the employee working earlier had checked "us" in earlier in the day. Turns out they gave our room away to someone else under our reservation!!! After too much time she ended up giving us the other guest's room. As for the room we got it is an accessible room, so it is large and had 2 queen bes instead of a king as purchased. The room was very nice, but the mix up was a bummer considering it was very hot outside as I waited 20 minutes for my partner to return. read more

I stayed at this place in 2017, and obviously liked it enough to visit it again 6 years later. The biggest reason I like this is that it is much more than I would normally expect for the price. For the most part, the property is what you would expect out of a 1-2 star hotel. Window A/C and Heat unit that is loud and either roasts or freezes you if you run it for too long. No amenities, but everything is very clean. The place really has a DIY vibe to it. Most cheap hotels, they have one of about 3 designs on their sheets, which may or may not be old enough to vote. The beds and sheets here are more like you're staying in someone's spare room. The room also had a small fridge and microwave, big Visio tv, and a table built into a cubby in the wall. Not really sure that all the cords from the various outlets are up to code, but the place is fine for a 1 night stay. However, you're probably not going to want more than 1-2 people in the room. It's going to be too cramped of quarters otherwise. read more

Very well kept hotel. Great place to stop along the way a long trip. There is no continental breakfast, just as an FYI if that's a big deal for you. They do have a small coffee bar in the building to the side of the motel. We stayed in one of the rooms in the building beside everything else. It was very nice, but we booked for a double queen (it was advertised as such on Hotels.com) and the room was clearly a double full. For 4 adults, that was a tight squeeze, but we made it work. Also, we believe the rooms are all connected to one small water heater because I was the only one able to shower after 10 minutes. All the hot water went out like *snap* that. The beds are a little overly firm too. All of us woke up with kinked necks and sore backs. All in all, not a horrible experience, but just needs some minor details to make it better. (Edit): Another weird part about this hotel is that it seems none of the staff members are actually on sight. Either they are off doing random things, stay at home a few minutes away from the hotel, or something else. If you need to get a hold of them, you either ring the doorbell at the front office or call the owner's phone number which is posted on the door. They are pretty punctual about it, but still seems weird to me. read more

I have stayed here several times now and I plan to stay here whenever I am in Salina, KS! The bed is very comfortable and the room is very nice! I like that it is conveniently located near several good restaurants! I like that some rooms are located directly next to the parking lot so it is easy to unpack and pack your vehicle! We were a little apprehensive since we chose this motel based on price (but good reviews). What a nice surprise to fine a brand new building. No frills or breakfast but it had everything we needed. Very clean and minutes from downtown and main Highway. Roger was very friendly and accommodating. read more

We weren't planning on staying in KS, but the front desk woman at Best Inn saved us from following a tornado storm in a tiny sports car. The Open sign was off and they only had 1 room left, and the woman said she wasn't technically supposed to let us check in, but we were terrified and she showed us much appreciated grace. The room was great. It only lost a star because you could clearly hear the room next door through a shared door in the room, and the bathroom door stuck, so the noise was enough to wake a bear if you wanted any privacy in the bathroom. The mattress was definitely old and killed my back, but it was better than death on the road. read more

For a cheap motel, the price is awesome. I feel secure with the locks, the bed is cozy. I don't feel like I am being ripped off. Pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good. I google-mapped the place beforehand and was a little nervous, but everyone who wrote before about it being a bargain -- you all were right. We had a room at the end of the motel. It's easy to park right outside your door. There was plenty of space in the room for all our luggage, a small fridge and microwave, a little desk area with plenty of outlets for all your devices, free wifi, the bathroom was clean, and the AC worked great. It's easy to find off the highway, and just a short drive to the downtown area. For $40 a night, this is as good as it gets. read more

We pulled into the parking lot and the first thing we saw were broken down vehicles with the hoods open and in non-working condition. we then saw a couple of bbq grills and old plastic chairs by a couple of rooms doors giving the appearance of long-term tenants. The couple of people we did see on the property made me VERY uncomfortable. We of course did not get a refund so we had to forfeit our $$. We left and stayed at a very nice hotel that was only $20 more than this one. Our safety was worth the $44 dollar loss. I feel deceived by the reviews and I would not ever recommend this place to anyone, period. read more

This place is a fantastic value. It is very cheap yet very clean and basic. There are no outlets though. Also no hair dryer or coffee maker, not even a towel bar, but to stay in a clean, and pretty nice room for under $40 us a bargin. You cannot beat this deal. Under $40/night? Sure, there will be elements that aren't perfect, like one of those misting shower heads that no one has ever liked. But the room is clean, the location safe and quiet, the service and welcome friendly and professional, the bed comfortable, the wifi reliable and fast. There is a refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, a well-lit desk area with office chair, and a flat screen TV. It's 5 or 6 minutes from what remains of Salina's downtown, which has good restaurants, a coffee shop/bookstore, and an ice cream parlor. I COULD have paid twice or three times as much for a room, but why would I? Even that showerhead would, eventually, get you clean. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better deal. Large bed, clean room and linens, nice TV (only important to us because we could hook our Roku to it and watch the season finale of Game of Thrones). While the tube did drain slowly, the water pressure in the shower was amazing. No shortage of hot water. And all for $40 after taxes. After reading all the positives we called to make a reservation. There was no answer. when we called. We drove to the motel and there was a message on the window to call another number. A lady answers and says what do you want? I asked if there was a room available for tonight ? I asked this seeing only one car parked on the site. She says do you have a reservation? Now would I be asking that question, I ask myself? I said no then she answers" well then there is no room available and hangs up. I sat there at the motel for another 5 minutes, calling other motels, when this heavy set lady pulls up. She opens the door to the motel and goes in slamming the door behind her. "You get what you pay for" is pretty accurate here. It is exactly what you would expect from a $40 hotel room. It was not dirty, but it for sure could have been cleaner. The shag carpet has seen better days, and who knows what stories jt could tell. Our top two blankets were stained pretty badly from who knows what. While the sheets seemed clean, one got the overwhelming feeling that the mattress was disgusting. My skin crawled all night with the thought of the mattress. The room had two temperatures: Siberia or the Sun. On the plus side, the room comes with a mini fridge and a microwave. The bathroom wasn't bad, but needed renovated. Overall, this was slightly better than sleeping in my car at a truck stop, but if I am ever in need of a place to stay in Salina again, I would give the truck stop equal consideration. I would for sure spring for the more expensive hotels in the area. read more

But the rooms are a big surprise - very fancy room, bed, and bathrooms, and super clean. There's even a mini-office, fridge, and microwave. This place is clean and is a good place for passing through. Friendly staff, quiet enough location. I'd advise looking at an aerial of the parking lot though before bringing a trailer into the lot. I was able to get an extended cab truck with a 16' trailer parked easily enough, but if the lot was full I'm not sure that would have been possible. Will readily stay here again. read more
