This…read moreInn is definitely in the perfect location as far as proximity to the Museum goes - it's just down the street. Perfect! The Inn prefers that you check in during a certain time period so they can ensure they're there to greet you. I had a meeting that resulted in a late arrival on my part, so I called ahead to let them know when I would be arriving and they accommodated easily and kindly. When you arrive, you park at the back of the residence, but you enter at the front of the residence. Those with mobility issues should take note and plan ahead for that. Along that same line, this property does not appear to be wheelchair accessible. All of the rooms I saw were upstairs and the entrance required several stairs to access the porch. However, I may have just not seen other options - calling ahead to ask may be best to make sure. I was greeted by Adrian, who checked me in and showed me around. She was very attentive about what I could/would eat for breakfast the next morning, which implies a lot of experience on her part and being conscientious about not wasting food. I definitely appreciated that. I stayed in the Hurd Room, which was perfect for my needs. I was there in October and the room had a small space heater provided for use, which I was very very grateful for. I know that I'm more sensitive than most to cooler temperatures, so while most people would probably have been fine, I appreciated being able to make the room fit my preferences on my own. There is a large array of movies that you can borrow to watch, most of which are older and asking classic lines which is nice to take a step back and enjoy. There were also cookies and tea available through the evening. I've seen other reviews and noted myself that some bathroom areas can be quite small. However, I saw that as a result of converting Victorian spaces into modern lodging areas. Areas were simply smaller in that era than we're used to now and keeping the integrity of the space has the natural result of cozier accommodations. I personally didn't mind any of it, but I can see how others might. The bed was comfortable, but be aware that this is a typical Kansas town that was built around a railroad station. So trains still run through there very frequently and at all hours of the night. If that will disturb your sleep, plan accordingly. I honestly don't think you can stay anywhere near the museum without that aspect. Breakfast the next morning started with a yogurt, fruit, and granola parfait. Adrian makes the granola herself on site. The entree for that morning was French toast with a fruit reduction and bacon. It was very nice. Overall, it was a very nice stay in a historic home with prices very comparable to any local hotel.

After some time researching the problem she said that the employee working earlier had checked "us" in earlier in the day. Turns out they gave our room away to someone else under our reservation!!! After too much time she ended up giving us the other guest's room. As for the room we got it is an accessible room, so it is large and had 2 queen bes instead of a king as purchased. The room was very nice, but the mix up was a bummer considering it was very hot outside as I waited 20 minutes for my partner to return.

No. It's an older spot that you can tell the owners have tried to update as best they can. It's not fancy and you can't control the temp in the room because there is a central thermostat somewhere. That being said, my room was comfortable. Not too hot or too cold. And j like that there is a ceiling fan for air movement. The bathroom isn't the cleanest I've ever seen in my life, but it's good enough. The drain is slow, but the water pressure is good and the water is hot. The bed is basic. A little stiff more me, but fine enough. A 30-something inch flat screen, microwave, and fridge. Small coffee maker. 68 dollars a night! The owner was nice as could be. My interaction with him was super pleasant. I'm pretty sure this is the only place to stay in Abilene. I'm passing through to check out the Eisenhower museum. I'm glad I stopped at this little retro spot. Edit: there are a couple more places to stay. And one holiday inn. But I'm still glad I supported this business.

Well, let me tell you about my stay at the Coronado Motel…read more.. I walk into the lobby, with my SERVICE DOG who was wearing her vest, and the woman says, "Oh, you have a pet." I state that she is a service dog but was told I am being charged $25 for a pet fee. I again state that she is a service dog, but she keeps calling her a pet. I told her fine and we would leave and she then tells me that I will still be charged because I didn't give 24 hours notice, which would be hard since I made the reservation 3 hours before I checked in. I said she is in non-compliance of the ADA. She said, "Do you have papers?". This is not allowed, but I showed her the physician recommendation papers on my phone which she did not look at. She then tells me we can't stay in the room we reserved because some people might be allergic to dogs that will stay after me. I didn't attempt to bring up she couldn't restrict us as service dogs have access to all rooms. She scratched out the $25 and looked at my service dog and said, "I feel sorry for you because he doesn't love you." My service dog is my protector and my service dog, who has a name, Ellie, knows I love her as much as much as she loves me. As a handicapped person, it is hurtful when someone like this says and does these things. We did stay the night, but here is my advice: If you are going to stay at the Coronado Motel, and if you are handicapped, be prepared to be ridiculed about your service dog and also be prepared for complete ignorance of the AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT. And just so they know for the next person: Key ADA Hotel Requirements for Service Dogs  * Access: Service animals are allowed in guest rooms, restaurants, and other public areas. * Fees: No pet fees or deposits can be charged for a service dog. * Room Restrictions: Hotels cannot restrict guests with service dogs to specific "pet-friendly" rooms; they must have access to all rooms. * Allowed Inquiries: Staff may only ask two questions: (1) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?. * Documentation: Hotels cannot require proof of training or certification. * Behavior: The service dog must be under control at all times (leashed or harnessed, unless that interferes with tasks). A dog that is unruly, barking, or dangerous can be asked to leave. * Definition: Only dogs (and, in limited cases, miniature horses) trained to perform specific tasks are covered. Emotional support animals are not service animals under the ADA.
