Groomer came out - had a brief convo about his meds and the look. She, Meli, didnt really try to connect with Bo at all - petting, eye contact, etc- which I found a bit disarming and walked back to the groom room. Very cold atmsphere overall. Bo was done in 2 hours- and I was told he had trouble standing and was asked if he had leg issues and explained again he was medicated to lessen the stress due to the epilepsy. Was told he was being charged as an x-large dog ( he is 65 pds). He had never been considered an xl before and I didnt understand the charge..Grooming was terrible .. Paid and left. Heres where the larger problem begins. Decided to speak to owner before I would write a negative review. She called back promptly - she was defensive, angry and although did ask what I wanted to make it better (I should of said full refund but didnt want her to yell at me more than she already had). She said grooming costs are basically subjective as to what the groomer wants to charge and how long the groom takes. She said my dog was OVERmedicated and thats why there may have been an issue, but then added that many dogs come in medicated and that I should be more understanding of the grooming issues because I dont know her business etc etc Basically, she spoke over me the entire time nastily and defensively and I was responding with "oh my gd" because I could not believe how I was being yelled at. I had to hang up the phone- could not get a word in edgewise and the defensiness and berrating continued when she called back. She said I kept "coming at her" and didnt have answer an answer for her question "what can I do to make it right". Honestly- I dont even know what would make it right. Maybe a kinder simpler conversation. So much disrespect and defensiveness tells me that it isnt the 1st time shes had complaints. She told me that her place "was not the place for me" No sht! New to the area- terrible 1st grooming experience.. Very disappointing...

The Dog Spaw takes walk-ins for nails, I liked what I read on their website so I gave it a try. No real wait, maybe five minutes. The groomer Neila came out to reception, took her time getting to know Lulu, and discussed options. I believe another groomer (Kim?) assisted in the nail trim, and they did great! No muzzle needed. Huge relief for mama!! The desk manager/receptionist was also very engaging but calm with Lulu and the other dogs I saw being dropped off or picked up. The "spaw" also sells a nice variety of healthy dog treats, fun toys, and whimsical collars and leashes. (The second photo is my other two pups enjoying one of the stuffed animals.) They take various forms of payment, but the best part is being able to Venmo the tip directly to your groomer. So convenient! If you are hesitant about your groomer because you have a nervous dog, check out The Dog Spaw. I had a great first experience there, and will certainly be returning with my other two crazy girls.

It was a complete disappointment that came with a heavy price tag. Mike, the owner, supposedly an…read moreexperienced dog trainer, during our first meeting, deliberately "forgot" to mention that the training of a 5-year old dog should be or might be different than training a puppy. The results spoke for themselves. However, he was quick to demand the full payment, which exceeded $2,000, without any recourse. In a nutshell, we were made to prepay a stranger we met only 20 minutes earlier, who was giving us a typical sale "shpiel" of his company being the best around. What a lie! Apparently, the love for our dog made us forego requisite due diligence and caution in choosing a dog trainer. There was no methodology as to how to train our dog most basic functions. For example, while the first trainer, Dana, kept feeding our dog treats every 2 minutes to make him compliant, the second trainer, Shan.... (forgot her full name) abandoned the "feeding" practice, but suggested to cross the street if the dog was pulling in a different direction during the walk. Contrary "techniques" between the 2 trainers were obvious. After 6 sessions and countless walks and "in-home practices" with and without trainers, our dog did not learn much (in fact, he regressed) and we gave up on Michael's Dog Training because we saw no progress. We realized we were wronged. Bottom line, we strongly do not recommend this business.
