I called the number on the reservation from Booking.com and a person named Heather from Extended Stay answered the phone - she said she needed to call the night agent to let me in. Then she hung up on me and they never answered the phone after that. The message I got was "Please call back during regular business hours and we will be happy to assist you." The very nice lady came down to check me in, but I knew before she ever let me in, I did not want to stay there. It was dirty, smelled my pot and cigarettes and seedy people hanging around the main area and I did not feel safe at all nor did I want to deal with this garbage. All of them told me "Sir you don't want to stay here" Normally I stay at the Comfort Inn, but they were booked. There were no other rooms available anywhere. There were no rooms ANYWHERE near the Airport and I was exhausted. I ended up sleeping in my car at 65 YEARS OLD! I am beyond upset and since Extended Stay has decided NOT to issue me a refund for a room I never stayed in I will return the favor and show the world HOW SCREWED UP THEY ARE AND HOW BAD THIS HOTEL REALLY IS! The first thing we noticed was the horribly stained carpet and the poorly patched holes in the wall. Then the smell of cigarette smoke hit us. And it hit us hard. I think we both had a feeling of dread as we opened the door to the room. Much to our surprise, the room was clean and smelled OK. It had a faint musty smell but it was tolerable. The worst thing about the room was the way that sound carried throughout the building. It was hard to sleep through all the noise -- people slamming their doors, various conversations, TV noise... It was a loud weekend. The staff was pleasant, the room was so-so, but the rest of the building is a run-down mess. That was disappointment number 1. Disappointment number 2 was when we entered our assigned Room 220, the unscreened window was wide open letting flies into the room and totalling disabling the effectivenessof the air conditioner, making the room hot and muggy. A small confusion arose because although the desk attendant told us our assigned room was #220, the key-card folder given to us said #221. The key let us into 220, so the verbal communication was more accurate than the written communication. Then I found the following problems with the room: 1. There was no shelf in the closet, so I had to find another place to store my hat. This is the first Comfort Inn that I have encountered with this deficiency. All the others where I have stayed had at least one storage shelf in the closet. 2. There was no hook on the inside of the bathroom door so I had to find another place to hang my toiletry bag. All the other Comfort Inns at which I have stayed provided such a hook, so I though it was standard. 3. Because of their falsely advertising a shuttle service to the airport, we had to find alternate transportation to the airport the next morning. Overall, it was a huge mistake to reserve accommodatioons at this Copmfort Inn. No aspect of it was comfortable.
