My mother, my daughter, and I literally got trespassed because the woman from Alaska who was at the front desk didn't want to do her job. Let me explain. A timeline of events: -My 3 year old pees the bed overnight. Womp womp. -We have breakfast, put the little door hanger that says, "Please make up the room!" and leave to visit family. -We get back, find the door hanger gone, and the room in exactly the state it was in when we left, pee blankets in all -I call the front desk to let them know we needed new bedding. The older lady who checked me in (who was terse and impatient with the non-English speaking father whose son needed to translate for him) told me she'd let housekeeping know. -Some hours later, I go to the front desk to inquire about the bedding. I plan on just getting the stuff and doing it myself, clearly they're understaffed (GM - that's on you!). I wait in line, my daughter grabs a cookie. All is right with the world. -Upon telling Alaska the situation and that we'd been waiting hours for new bedding, which I was happy to put on myself, she told me well, it's already been done; she heard the Older Frustrated Woman talking with the head of housekeeping who said they had gone to ask the guest if they needed new sheets, and gave them some towels (maybe, but not to us!) I assured her, I had been in the room all afternoon. No housekeeping. -She then tells me to sit and wait (longer) while she helps the woman in line after me because (paraphrase), "If you don't, I won't remember LOL!" I ask if she can just write it down so I can go back to the room. She then huffs, tells me I'm just going to have to follow her while she gets me the sheets. -She storms off to get the bedding. I wait near my room. When she gets nearby, she hands me a garbage bag. Says I'm going to have to strip the bedding and put it in there and then she'll give me the new sheets - "It's policy!" GM, if that's your policy, it sucks. -I come back out and realize she didn't get me a mattress pad. Let me reiterate, my daughter peed in the bed. Need a new one of those. She lies, saying, "Oh, well... I wouldn't even begin to know where to get one..." I ask if she could call housekeeping. She pauses. "Ugh, Jesus Christ..." and storms off again. When she gets back to me, I tell her I'm sorry if she's having a bad day. -We realize she didn't give us blankets. My mother goes to ask for one. Alaska escalates almost immediately. A shouting match begins, and the lady calls the cops (who have NOTHING better to do) to come and trespass us. -We leave peacefully, apologizing to the cops for this woman wasting their time. Anyway. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I've been to this hotel over a dozen times to visit family and for work. I hate giving it a one star; the facilities are always clean, the breakfast is always good (that chile sauce they have is GREAT), and until this visit the staff have always been extremely friendly and welcoming. We were driving a long day headed from NV to FL on a work trip and I have my dog. The fee was only $15!! They have a pet walking area and the hotel was so nice and clean. Water for my bottle in the fitness room and a yummy breakfast. The woman working the breakfast made me laugh down and was so helpful. The bearded man at the front desk was so nice and hooked me up with a toothbrush and some silverware I needed and doggie waste bag when the outside thing was out of them. The beds are nice and firm with fresh smelling linens, and rooms were super clean. They had little recycling wastebaskets next to the regular wastebasket. I also have to mention how fast the wifi was uploading some work videos. Great place and saw lots of dogs! I would definitely stay here again. read more

Upon checking in my Husband said the woman who checked him in was not friendly at all just cut and dry but I'm still giving this place 5 stars as our room was amazing and clean and very spacious ! We got the two queens as we had a furry friend with us ! We were actually in a room by the freeway but it was quiet minus the cat crying which was no fault of the hotel ! They provided breakfast which we didn't get cause we needed to get on the road and get to our next destination! Would I recommended? The woman at front desk MADISON is extremely rude. First thing she has attention deficit she doesn't give you a right card for the room that is on the second floor. They have aNI ELEVATORS AND WE HAD TO CARRY OUR 6 BAGS MANUALLY and on top when you call her to tell her she gave wrong card. She has a gut to tell US YOU CAN CHECK OUT - INSTEAD IF BEING APOLOGETIC !!!! Extremely rude. This is unacceptable behavior and hope her supervisor takes care of this behavior. read more

We attended a wedding in St Louis, Mo last week and been driving along I-40 / I-44. So far we have been using IHG many times and planning to use it again going back home to California. Albuquerque IHG is my next stop. I am here at Tucumcari, NM to charge my car. There is a Holiday Inn Express and Suite, convenient to use their restrooms plus I'm a Platinum Elite. There were 2 gentlemen at the counter and told us that we can't use the restroom because we are not staying tonight at their place. This incident took place on 5/27/2026 at 17:55. If you are a Tesla or any EV car owner, don't try to use their restroom especially if you have to go badly like I was. I have to walk to McDonald and use their bathroom and started to pee on my underwear. It was a bad situation. I will publish this at Yelp and inform IHG Corporation. read more

I tried for hours to contact the front desk to ask questions about a reservation. No answer every time. Then finally a rude answer "please hold" then a disconnect which left me on hold for more time then it rang and they disconnected me. Who's running that front desk? I was never able to get my question answered so I had to choose another hotel. I can't imagine how bad the service is once they have your money if they treat potential customers like this. read more

Old design doesn't allow you to use carts in many rooms for luggage, no amenities, next to highway and loud road noise l, rude staff and maids knocking on door at 9 am!! I am going to give this place a 4 rating. The staff, for the most part, are very polite and friendly. But, there were some issues with the facility itself. We booked a 3 night stay. They changed us to another room on our 2nd day because the hot water was not very accessible on the side of the building that we were on. The 2nd room we were in was much better for that. We had some problems with the key cards, for both rooms, as they were giving up the ghost after less than a day of use. Given the initial response I had received from the desk clerk when I approached her about the key problem, I was inclined to give a lower rating, but it was brought to my attention that the key card cannot come in contact with your cell phone, or it will deactivate, and that's very likely what happened. The amount for our stay was returned to my account on the day we left. While they were very friendly, I doubt seriously that it was act of generosity. I contacted the front desk when I got home and notified them of the situation, and they had rectified it the next day. Overall, our stay was comfortable, and, for the most part, the staff were friendly and attentive. I recommend this hotel if you're traveling to or through Tucumcari, NM, but bear in mind that it is very cold there in the winter time, so maybe consider visiting during a warm season. read more

Serviceable if staying with pets but would not book again. Pet rooms are tiled, understandable but not necessary if you look after your pets. The pet area is a barren, fenced-in triangle where many pet owners don't pick up their poop. Be careful where you step! Wifi was out the night we stayed, and the front desk said they'd "rebooted the router three times already," like that should be a good enough excuse. Hotels should realize people want to watch YouTube, Netflix, or catch up on news or email when they get settled, not watch live TV on the room's computer monitor-sized HDTV, so wifi better work. Items like lamps and luggage carts were in disrepair. On the plus side, showers have good water pressure and plenty of (very) hot water, and the beds were firm, clean, and comfy, with decent pillows. If you just want to crash before getting on the road the next morning, it would do. read more

I'm a flight attendant so I stay in a lot of hotels. This one is amazing. We stayed because the other hotels around were sold out. But I'm glad it worked out that way. We had a balcony and beds were comfy. The shower pressure was so great. But the best part is the FREE breakfast! Today they had burritos. Bacon, hash browns, eggs, and the green chili to top it was the bomb! Omg delish. There are all the other options too, yogurt, oatmeal, waffles, biscuits and gravy, even PB&J sandwiches Coffee with lots of creamer flavors. The breakfast alone was better than most restaurants. And did I mention free?! PLEASE TIP. The guy cooking and waiting the tables is so sweet and working hard. He makes the green chili. I was sad to see how many people were having breakfast and left nothing. we tipped $8 not much for a free breakfast, but nothing was in the jar otherwise. read more

Checked in to room 151. We were in it about 40 minutes. Used the soap, towels, laid on the bed. Then we noticed the mosquito infestation! Called the front desk to change room. Girl working come to bring us keys and confirms there's a lot of mosquitos in the room. Moves us next door to room 152. Next morning as we are packing to leave we notice they had checked someone into our used, dirty, mosquito room! Did the maids and exterminator come before they checked the new people in???? My experience was very good. I had none of the problems others had... No bugs, very comfortable bed, clean bathroom. I'm a little confused about the blue diamond that I told this property was when I called the corporate reservation number as there was not even a bottle of water in the room. I spent 10 minutes in a dark room looking for a light switch by the bed... Black on black doesn't make it easy, but I'll know next time. The woman at the desk when I checked in did not sound welcoming or friendly when I entered, but she was very, very kind... Just perhaps tired from feeling all the questions about other peoples problems and perhaps after a long day. This hotel looks nothing like the pictures on the website. The assigned room was down a dark, dingy breezeway on the back side of the building, right next to the freeway, very noisy. Felt very unsecured. I didn't even open the room door, walked right back to office and asked to cancel my reservation. We moved the foot stool and there were many food crumbs under it. Went to office to have someone sweep the floor and she said Ok. Our remote is broken, we have to hold the battery in to get the tv to work. Lady at the front desk came and swept the floor, never did fix get the remote fixed;( she was very apologetic! read more

After a long day of driving across country with my two dogs, I was pleased to find a dog friendly room. It was clean, and close to the fenced dog area! The staff was very nice, and the breakfast was excellent! I would certainly recommend this place to stay, as it has a fridge, CLEAN COMFY BED, and a few places to eat and restock close by. read more

Cleaning staff was great on the beds but must have gotten distracted because they left soap in the bathtub and didn't wipe off the tub, the bath mat was wet, but they made the towel look pretty on the wet mat & pointed the toilet paper on the roll lol. GROSS! I'm not sure who has been rating this place but it's way off. We stayed here last night 07/19/21. Our first room was DISGUSTING! There was urine all over the toilet, urine in the bathtub, a dirty wash cloth hanging over the shower head, dirt all over the floor, dirt on the bed some kind of stuff all over the mirror. ..... Called to be moved. Second room DIRTY! The floor had crap on it everywhere. Pubic hair all over the toilet BARF. The curtains had holes and bugs in them. When we requested a room on the end (it's easier for our service dogs to go out) we were told the hotel was fully booked. I was in and out all night because I couldn't sleep in this dirty place. There couldn't have been more than 20 cars in the parking lot at any time. Oh and housekeeping was still cleaning at 9pm. Im not sure why because it seems they are only replacing linens and I'm not sure if they are replacing ALL of it. I worked for a hotel in housekeeping for quite a while. This is completely unacceptable. Oh and the flies! We walked into both rooms with multiple flies. This place is freaking gross. I'm hoping we don't bring anything home with us. FYI if you're traveling with pets they give you specific rooms. These are pictures from two of the rooms. They are all tile and in the back of the hotel. It's not a fantastic area, it's hidden and isolated from the front of the hotel. read more

Hotel staff was very difficult to deal with resolving a billing problem. Poor followup.. they double charged me. I eventually got a refund from Hotels.Com after local staff refused to, or was too incompetent to handle a prepaid booking. They charged up without my notice or call tht there was a problem. We had to get an emergency room due to an illness on a road trip. The staff here was very helpful and got us a room within 10 mins from calling in. They were able to get us a pet friendly room extra towels and the breakfast was tasty and hot! Dog area was well kept and grassy! Cannot thank them enough for their kindness and help. What a nice place. Here's where you say don't judge a book by its cover. We stayed here on our way to Florida. There's not many hotels in this area that take pets so It was great because they had dog friendly rooms which makes it nice because we always travel with our English bulldog. They're remodeling hotel so when you first get there you think it's not going to be great because of all the construction an things around the hotel. But like I said don't judge a book by its cover. The customer service was great the lady at the front desk was very nice and very informative. The room we got was great! It had no carpet because it is pet friendly. I liked it because with no carpet in the room the floors are easier to clean and you're not getting that strong smell you get when they clean the carpets in the room after someone has stayed there with their pets. So it was nice to have a room with a tile floor. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable and enough pillows that you're comfortable. In room coffee which is nice because were up and out of the hotel first thing in the morning when were on our trip. It was very quiet which was great so we got a good nights sleep. Although the lady at the front desk did tell us that the start construction around eight so we may here noise. But were always out at the hotel early as we like to get on the road as soon as possible. I also like the fact that they have a place that you walk your dog around to go to the bathroom. All in all the stay was great it will be on a list of places to stay as we travel back-and-forth to Florida. They also have a restaurant on the property that was packed although we didn't get to try it. There are fast food places close by as well. So if your in this area this is great stay. read more

This place is nasty! The rooms smell like urine. They don't answer the phone ever! I left and went to a different hotel. Run people in the opposite direction. When I stopped to make sure I had a reservation that should have been my first clue. When I tried to talk to the lady at the desk I interrupted her needle point and with an eye roll she stated she couldn't help me.. the only reason I gave a star is the young man who could check me in was very nice. read more

Check in person wasn't very friendly - not rude, but just all business. Didn't offer us the free cookies that were sitting there, but that's not really the end of the world. The room was a bit shabby, but they allow dogs and we had two of them. So that might be why the rooms are the way they are.
