This place is a super cute vintage style place to stay that is dog friendly. I booked online for a stay. They have a radio with older songs on it. On the bed they left some treats and if you want to purchase a dog bowl or towel form them. But we didnt purchase those. They have a firepit outside and a small dogrun for your furry friends. But heads up, you will get eaten alive by the mosquitos when the sun goes down. They do have bug spray outside, but those mosquitos are relentless. The beds were comfy and was a nice quiet stay. It's just sad that about 90% of this town is rundown or shutdown over the years. I would have loved to see it back in the day.

A throwback to the 1960s travel era except it's better than it ever was - no smell of PineSol disinfectant or stale cigarette smoke or saggy mattresses. Comfy beds, clean rooms, appointed with mid century furniture and accessories. Even the toilet is still wrapped in a Sanitized for your protection ribbon! Other unique touches include a couple mini Moon Pies in the room and a radio that somehow broadcasts old commercials and tunes. Really getting the feeling of time travel here. The owners and the staff are super nice people - like to chat about travel destinations. I highly recommend staying here, don't be afraid of staying at a motel. It's a great experience. They serve coffee/tea in the morning and a few granola bars or donettes for a quick snack. Gift shop lobby has some cool stuff like getting a copy of your own room key chain.

Welcome snacks for the humans as well :)

The perfect place to stay with your pups! Comfy bed, great little fenced dog run, fun vintage touches in the room! Welcome snacks for the humans as well :) the heat was on when we arrived, a cool old radio station playing ads and music from the 1930-1950s. It's nice to stay in a dog friendly place as opposed to a hotel that tolerates dogs but makes clear they are not welcome.

This place was so fun. Alas, I didn't get to meet Elvis, the dog ambassador, but otherwise my stay was perfect. Impeccably clean, and the decor was so amazing- they put a lot of work into giving you the 60s experience. The dog park is grassed, and my dog was greeted with a nifty bag of snacks. -and some gifts. Not just dog-friendly but people-friendly too with a firepit and lounge area outside. I don't know if my travels will take me back through there, but I cannot recommend this little gem enough!

It really is like stepping back in time! Clean, kitschy and cute, the Roadrunner is a classic Route 66 motel. The owners were friendly and helpful and very proud of their establishment (they should be!). There are moonpies in the rooms, and Ding Dongs and Twinkies are served beside the coffee/tea each morning. They even have two dogs, but they only bring them out with the approval of the guests. An old-fashioned radio was playing Nat King Cole when we walked into our rooms, and they have modern TVs with local cable. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were small but clean, and we got two rooms with an adjoining door. Unfortunately, sleeping was difficult because the outside lights were shining through the shades, making it seem like dawn all night long. Still, this is a great roadside motel. If you need one in Tucumcari, this is the one to choose!

This is a charming pet friendly piece of Americana. Elvis is their 'schnauchowbostador' director of canine hospitality and left biscuits for each of my Cavaliers. We were running late for checking in, but with a single call (and talking to a human) our rooms were fully prepared and very comfortable.

    Dog welcome gift.

Great place and authentic experience. Decor was original and classy, this is not filled with Temu fake era remakes. Room was clean and had a cute welcome gift for our pups. Important things to point out, strong water pressure and REAL toilet paper. Owner and staff were friendly with fresh coffee in the a.m.

Loved our nostalgic stay at the Roadrunner Lodge on the historic Route 66. We overnighted here in our way from Texas to Colorado based on a recommendation from a friend. What a delightful surprise that gave our whole family a glimpse into life during this time period. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The lobby staff was kind and helpful. There is contactless check in but we wandered to the lobby while looking at the classic Americana car out front. The lobby also has a small collection of historical artifacts from this time, including an old timey fridge with soda inside. This is a dog friendly hotel and they have rooms to accommodate those with pets. Their head of hospitality is Elvis the dog, and we got to see him as we were checking in. This city also has a lot of beautiful murals sprinkled throughout the city. We drove around and loved seeing them so check them out if you have time. So glad we supported this local business! If you are near the area and need a place to stay, check them out. Oh and they are the #1 roadside motel by USA Today.

We almost didn't spend the night at Roadrunner Lodge. Deciding to stop for the night while experiencing Route 66 and surrounded by old-fashioned park-at-the-door motels, I stopped at a different motel. At 7 pm, the office was closed, no one answered the bell, and the phone number for the motel showed that it was based in California. We took that as a sign. We drove slowly down the street looking for another nice-looking motel. And, we turned into the Roadrunner Lodge . . . . thank goodness! We were checked in by a pleasant lady in the front office who directed us to a favorite room of theirs on the second level that had a perfect view of Tucumcari Mountain. She said we would recognize it from the movie 'Cars', which we haven't seen, but, when I sent a photo to my grandchildren, they were very excited that I was staying in 'Radiator Springs'. Having only had one good experience recently staying in retro motels, we nervously opened the door (they use real door keys on a plastic fob!) and stepped back into time. A retro radio on the bedside table was playing music from the1960s. Everything was fresh and clean, but I felt like I was back on a road trip with my parents and siblings back in the day. It is so cool! Del's, a restaurant down the street, had been recommended to us. We enjoyed a great comfort food dinner there and returned to our room for a quiet, comfortable sleep. The a/c worked well and quietly) Morning brought us hot showers with great water pressure, and complimentary coffee in the front office. We sat outside to enjoy our coffee and the complimentary moon pies that were in our room, and we enjoyed a nice conversation with another lodger who was exercising his dog in the dog walk (a nice perk for those traveling with puppies). A couple of touches we didn't take advantage of: ice cream novelties for sale in the office, and a large fire pit for all lodgers to hang out at in the evening. As it had been 100 degrees that day, sitting around a fire pit didn't appeal to us as much as a nice, air-conditioned room! Thank you, Roadrunner Lodge, for helping make our Route 66 trip a success.

The town is a hidden gem, so many beautiful muriels, but the Roadrunner Lodge is the cherry on top! It's a swanky 60s lodge with clean rooms and big soft beds. Bonus, they love our dogs, too!

Quaint, comfortable and clean, fun stop on Rt 66 for road trippers. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.Lobby is decorated with cool furnishings and memorabilia. Complementary water and mini Moon Pies in the room. Rooms are small as is expected for a 60s motel. Good coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided in the lobby in the morning. Complementary hostess cakes - Twinkies and Ding Dongs bring back sweet childhood memories. The AC is loud and blasts freezing cold dry air directly in your face all night, no fan in the bathroom so steam from shower heats up the room. Pet friendly with limited number of pet rooms and fenced dog walk area. It would be great if there was a pool.

These photos are proudly hung in the motels front office. ^_^

I'm SO happy with my night here - safe area, friendly staff, nice room. Deducted one star for jank ass shower. The head detaches from the wall and the angle soaked my whole floor. Yes walls are thin - I was on the phone at around 8 PM and my neighbor banged on my wall. Not so bothered by the thin walls as I was about my neighbor knocking on it. That's hotel life homie! Put in some earplugs and deal with it. We're all tired. But besides that it was great! SO awesome too if you're traveling with a pet, they don't even charge a pet fee. There's a little patch next to the hotel too for the dogs. Mine does not play well with others so we would walk around the empty lot next door, also mega convenient even if we were maybe not allowed in there. Also they don't discriminate against bully breeds. The staff was very nice to my little pit. Lots of food nearby / others hotels. Really well traveled. Next time I travel through NM, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! (Check out Del's Restaurant. Thank me later!)

A timeline of events: -My 3 year old pees the bed overnight. Womp womp. -We have breakfast, put the little door hanger that says, "Please make up the room!" and leave to visit family. -We get back, find the door hanger gone, and the room in exactly the state it was in when we left, pee blankets in all -I call the front desk to let them know we needed new bedding. The older lady who checked me in (who was terse and impatient with the non-English speaking father whose son needed to translate for him) told me she'd let housekeeping know. -Some hours later, I go to the front desk to inquire about the bedding. I plan on just getting the stuff and doing it myself, clearly they're understaffed (GM - that's on you!). I wait in line, my daughter grabs a cookie. All is right with the world. -Upon telling Alaska the situation and that we'd been waiting hours for new bedding, which I was happy to put on myself, she told me well, it's already been done; she heard the Older Frustrated Woman talking with the head of housekeeping who said they had gone to ask the guest if they needed new sheets, and gave them some towels (maybe, but not to us!) I assured her, I had been in the room all afternoon. No housekeeping. -She then tells me to sit and wait (longer) while she helps the woman in line after me because (paraphrase), "If you don't, I won't remember LOL!" I ask if she can just write it down so I can go back to the room. She then huffs, tells me I'm just going to have to follow her while she gets me the sheets. -She storms off to get the bedding. I wait near my room. When she gets nearby, she hands me a garbage bag. Says I'm going to have to strip the bedding and put it in there and then she'll give me the new sheets - "It's policy!" GM, if that's your policy, it sucks. -I come back out and realize she didn't get me a mattress pad. Let me reiterate, my daughter peed in the bed. Need a new one of those. She lies, saying, "Oh, well... I wouldn't even begin to know where to get one..." I ask if she could call housekeeping. She pauses. "Ugh, Jesus Christ..." and storms off again. When she gets back to me, I tell her I'm sorry if she's having a bad day. -We realize she didn't give us blankets. My mother goes to ask for one. Alaska escalates almost immediately. A shouting match begins, and the lady calls the cops (who have NOTHING better to do) to come and trespass us. -We leave peacefully, apologizing to the cops for this woman wasting their time. Anyway. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I've been to this hotel over a dozen times to visit family and for work. I hate giving it a one star; the facilities are always clean, the breakfast is always good (that chile sauce they have is GREAT), and until this visit the staff have always been extremely friendly and welcoming. Just don't ask for a blanket.
