Great stopping point between Washington and Montana. Just fyi pets are welcome on all floors in this hotel which I didn't know so I paid more for a bottom floor which wasn't necessary; however, it was convenient to have a sliding door right into a grass field to allow my pup to run around and use the potty. Views of the water are nice and the town is walkable with cute shops and places to eat and drink all over the place. We utilized the indoor pool and complimentary breakfast. However, don't cancel any breakfast reservations over this because it was VERY limited. We were happy with accommodations and staff was friendly. This hotel was the one of the best experiences I have ever had. The front desk staff were so accommodating and wonderful. Our train (they are right by the train station) was three hours late. Ben the late night front desk associate was so kind and made us feel comfortable and welcome. There was a glitch in their system (which seemed to happen often, perhaps they need an upgrade), and he accommodated us and we went smoothly to our beautiful room over looking the gorgeous lake and mountains. The beds were so comfortable and the room was very clean. We swam in the beautiful pool and sat in the hot tub to sooth our aching muscles. We got up too late to have breakfast, but the girls on the morning shift actually went out of their way to make sure we had a healthy breakfast, heating up sandwiches and offering us muffins and juice and coffee. We then wanted to stay another night and they were fully booked. But then found us a nice room on the ground floor with a Jacuzzi in the room. We fully enjoyed our stay!!! Then we stayed at my parents house the next night and the next we were getting on a train back home. The train was departing at 1am and the staff at the hotel let us stay there until our train came in. Exceptional service and wonderful friendly people. I will go back again. read more

Walking into the hotel hallway, I was hit with the smell of chlorine, and it was so hot! The rooms are outdated, curtains and carpets were dirty, and the sheets/bedding didn't look great either. My colleague's room smelled of urine, and the bathroom was dirty. We both checked out within 15 minutes of checking in. I do not recommend and will not be back. read more

"Ice is for our $300/night hotel guests, NOT guests from our RV lot." Let that sink in. We paid $100/night for the honor of parking our RV on a narrow, shade-free strip of gravel in an otherwise good location in Sandpoint. Yes, you are "allowed" to use the hotel pool, but the attitude my wife got last night when simply asking for a plastic bag and directions on property to the ice machine (during a record heat wave) made my blood boil, pardon the pun. We were warned about the train noise at night, but it was very faint. The location near town is unbeatable. All in all, maybe better to park somewhere else if you're also looking for a beach that's dog friendly as the beach here doesn't allow pooches I certainly hope that desk staff employee was a one-off. I would understand something as audacious as her comment if we were wandering into the Four Seasons, but Jesus, we're talking about a **Best Western** here. Could not recommend this place! I ate at the Beautiful Trinity restaurant next to it, with wonderful staff and gorgeous views on the water. Stayed in an upgrade room- with fireplace. It was an old antique style room, 2 rooms adjacent with the oldest single pane sliding doors Ive seen since 1970s. I returned a used pillow case left in the chair in the room. Went to take a shower, no bar soap, shampoo, nothing! Tiniest bathroom- could barely turn around in it. I have never seen such an old out dated and unfurnished Bestwestern room like this. Cost was 260.00 per night. Bunch of old furniture that no one would use. Room fridge and microwave. Very dirty and barely any plugs for usb or electric outlets. Fireplace was a propane flip a switch - you could smell it too. Views were beautiful on the beach but needed serious updates for those kind of rooms for that price. This hotel is nothing special other than the fact it it right on the lake. The price is outrageous for what it is. I agree with other reviews. They are doing the bare minimum. Breakfast is scarce with not many options. The rooms are seriously outdated. The hallways are HOT. No elevators, and there are dogs EVERYWHERE . Our bathtub had lots of scum/mold. And the front desk people are just plain rude. I would have expected at least a decent breakfast for the price we paid. Glad we canceled our other two nights and just stayed the one. Do NOT stay here unless you want your room broken into by their night manager with bolt cutters in hand and at midnight while your half dressed! No joke people!They gave the wrong room to us which was THEIR fault and they say its protocol to barge into your room at midnight and yell at you saying you need to leave. So imagaine then trying to sleep, when you finally tell the lady that you are not leaving because they assigned you that room, and you can't because now the locks are broken. Then they tell you in the morning that the night manager has anger issues! Really!!? Unbelievable what happened to us..there is more to the story and now we have our lawyer involved because they are rufusing the address this nightmare! Upon check in of our first room we discovered TONS of hair in the bed. Went and spoke to the manager and he made it right by moving us to another room. He saved the review from one star. Cons: uncomfortable bed, itchy sheets, loud neighbors due to not enough sound canceling insulation, drafty room, slippery tile around hot tub, and poor shower head pressure. I hope housekeeping is addressed promptly and seriously. Cleanliness is a must! We just won't be staying here again. read more

We booked my mom into the hotel, while we stayed next door in the RV park. While it looks a little tired, the entire facility was clean and extremely well-maintained! Then there was the staff - absolutely the most patient, helpful and conscientious people!! A gorgeous view and a warm pool made the site exactly perfect for us - and its location, walking distance to one of the nicest, friendliest towns around, made it ideal for a two day break from a long road trip! read more

The Edgewater is our favorite place to stay in Sandpoint. There's a nice view of the lake, walking distance to Sandpoint's downtown shops and restaurants. In addition to free coffee and bottled water in the rooms, there's also coffee service in the lobby. The on-site restaurant, Trinity at City Beach serves very good food and has a nice flat-screen in the lounge in case you want to catch the game. They have recently renovated, and the room furnishings are modern and attractive. In addition to coffee, they also have an iron and ironing board. They have free wi-fi for guests, as well as a public computer in the lobby to use for internet access. They have an indoor pool, modest exercise room and jacuzzi tub as well. One amenity that is lacking compared to most Best Westerns in this class is that they don't include breakfast with the room. These amenities are what attracts us to the Edgewater again and again. Having said that, the hotel has more than a couple of areas where they can make improvements. In some of the room configurations, the Bathroom is very cramped feeling. Also, the last time we stayed, the mattresses seemed to be giving up the ghost - the springs were so compressed on the bed that I felt like I was going to be rolling towards center of room sometimes. Also, be sure to use your "Do Not Disturb" sign, as Housekeeping started VERY early on Sat (before 8 am) Occasionally there can be loud occupants, especially on the weekends. As I was getting coffee, I overheard the front desk clerk telling a co-worker that they had noise complaints at 11 pm-2am, had to eject some non-registered guests and threaten to call police if the registered occupants didn't quiet down. Luckily we weren't close to that room! Overall, I'd say if convenient location and a nice view are your priorities, you'll like the Edgewater. Prices compare favorably to the La Quinta, but if you just want to have a room at the best price, you'd be better off going a few miles north of town and checking out some of the accommodations in Ponderay. read more

The stay would have been okay if not for a security incident which I reported to the staff, verbally and in writing, and to which I received no response. I informed the staff at the reception of a security incident where one of the hotel residents was knowingly and conspicuously smoking on the front porch of the hotel, with the hotel door open. The smoke was getting straight back into the hallway and was causing a strong smell of tobacco on the second floor. When I requested the smoking gentleman to close the door and step away from the building he started cursing, repeatedly using the f*** word in front of my children. I videotaped the incident and showed it to the hotel staff immediately. The hotel staff responded by saying "yeah, he really shouldn't be doing that", and that was it -- no attempt to warn the man or follow up with him or me in any. It appears, the hotel staff just don't care. read more

Now for the negative: I woke up with a fan going, and the room over-heating, it was almost 75 degrees! I have to turn on the light, so I can see what I was doing, to turn it off. When I took a shower, the water to my touch, was perfect, but as I got inside, it was VERY COLD. The faucet control was very sensitive, it took me about 5 mins. trying to adjust it, very little to 'hot', it was too hot, very little to 'cool', it was very cold, I can't seen to adjust it to perfection. The control is more to the left, NOT CENTERED, as it should if you want 'warm'. So, don't go by the faucet control indicator, go by feel. Yes, it was THAT SENSITIVE. Should be 4 STAR MINUS for that! read more

If I could give no stars, I would. This place is a dump, just absolutely disgusting. From the stench of septic that hits when you walk thru the doors, to the filthy, disgusting carpet, to the un-airconditioned and stifling hot hallways, to the empty drink machines (no amenities whatsoever) and the out dated, FILTHY, bug ridden rooms...this place was a complete nightmare. For $200 dollars a night you'd be better off buying a tent and camping. My companion woke up with bug bites all 0ver her and we also had to spray the room down with bug spray because the ceilings and walls were covered in them. The restaurant could've been it's saving grace yet they were out of so many items and most of their food is frozen, pre made products. None of it was good. the television quit working and after calling the empty front desk several times, I braved the stinky hallway and walked down there to the front desk only to find some half alert girl at the desk who walked down to our room, said it smelled lemony (from the bug spray, which I told her we had to use for the amount of bugs in the room) jiggled a wire and the thirty year old tv started working again. The bathroom is so small its hard to go in to it and use the toilet and close the door at the same time. Not for those that don't like small spaces of about 2'x5'. The carpeting in the room is absolutely foul, filthy and dirty to the point of ruined. There were footprints on the walls and the underneath of the bed looks like it hasn't been cleaned ever. The curtain, beds and lamps were covered in dust. When I checked out I told them the place was a dump and the front desk girl said she would have a manager call me, because one wasn't available at the time. Well, Surprise, surprise, no call. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here...stay anywhere but here...it was cleaner under the bridge you walk under to get to town. I may never stay in a Best Western again due to this experience. The entire place needs to be overhauled, including their staff. I should have turned around and left the second the stench hit when you walked inside. This is a great hotel right off the water that we always make our way back to whenever we are in the area. I haven't had much luck with the restaurant (meh- Idaho in general I haven't had much luck with the food gods though!) But everything else about this little town is fabulous. It's dog friendly so my Siberian husky comes along with us. There is a Starbucks within walking distance.... And the rooms are clean and comfortable. The view is spectacular right off the water and it's always great to walk around and relax with a cup of coffee at the lake. Highly recommend! read more

We went in for a group trip and it was fantastic. Dallas was wonderful before we got there helping us get all of the details put together. The whole staff was kind and made the meeting go without flaw. We had a large group of people and they had everything ready for each of us at check-in. They managed our hotel block well and ensured that all of the guest were treated in the best manner possible. The food downstairs was fantastic, we ordered a meal for the group and the cost was reasonable and everyone ate their fill. I would recommend this for any group meeting, the staff helped us make this be the best one yet. While this was for a work trip I will return for personal use as well. All of the rooms offer a beautiful view of the lake, perfect for a weekend away. read more

We arrived for our anniversary weekend. Rented a King room. Checked in and the rom was disgusting. Smelled like a locker room and the furniture hadn't been dusted in over a week. I could write my name on the dresser. We asked for a different room. The reluctantly moved us. That room wasn't much better. Smelled better but still dusty and cigarette butts on the deck. We let the manager know. The next morning the alarm in the room went off at 6. We did not set it. Went back to sleep. Got woken up around 8 from the maids cussing about us very loudly in the next room. It woke my husband up and he went to the manager and let him know. They compensated the room. Money was never the issue. We stay at BW all over the country and have never had a more worse experience then this. I wouldn't even give them 1 star. Will never stay there again. read more

We have stayed at this property on numerous occasions. Bang for buck, it's a great place every time. Fair rates, excellent staff, right on lake and walking distance just over the bridge to town. The rooms are old but comfortable. Coffee, water and peanuts are included. Small but nice gym and indoor pool and spa. In summer the air conditioners are noisy, in winter the heat works well. This would always be my number one choice when staying in Sandpoint. read more

We stayed at the "RV Park"-which closely resembles a parking lot. It IS NOT big rig friendly. Other campers had spread out into the two remaining sites so it appeared full. Staff at the hotel is friendly, and you do have use of the pool and workout room. You have to supply your own towels and toiletries. Although they allow pets at your site, pets are not allowed in the adjacent park and beach. There is no place in the RV Park for a pet walking area. We were warned about the train traffic-and it is almost continuous. Would absolutely NOT recommend this place. And it's pricey at $55.00 per night plus tax. read more
