Let me start by saying it was Memorial Day and my wife, Daughter, and I were coming home from up north. We left at 4:30 in the morning from Santa Cruz CA and the traffic was starting to get very bad when the I-15 goes up the Grapevine. We decided to pull off to use the restroom and get food about 11:45. We pulled into the Chevron gas station fueled and did assorted things there. By this time the traffic was so bad it took us from 12 03 until 1245 just to get across the street to Best Western. And this decision was made because the traffic was not moving, people were not letting each other go through and tensions were starting to flare in many vehicles, so I decided for us to spend the night at the Best Western in Lebec. This was a fantastic decision. As we walked, we noticed that this was very clean and nicely kept Best Western. Lots of awards on the wall for being a diamond club member. Kimberly helped us at the front desk. She was very polite and helped us through the check-in process. She was very helpful in explaining to me that I probably could have gotten a better rate by directly going to the Best Western site, but I've forgotten my password, so I'll remember to do that next time. The room was clean, spacious and inviting- they had a great bathroom. As you look at the pictures on the Internet, they're very accurate and descriptive. There are plenty of amenities such as fantastic shampoos and conditioners, the pillows were nice and fluffy, and the beds were very inviting. They have an inside pool, which we didn't try, but it looked inviting. They have a snack machine on the inside which was reasonably priced. They offer a great breakfast included, but unfortunately, I had to go to work the next day, so we left very early. I can't tell you how relieved we were to be able to find a room, relax, and let the traffic outside fade away. It didn't stop until around 9:00 at night. I would suggest this hotel anytime but especially during the holidays just to be able to relax and have a nice hearty breakfast, plus there are many restaurants and fast-food (Chipotle, McDonalds, In-N-Out) places around there for the evening meal (we ate at Denny's, but there was an IHOP too). If you happen to stop by there ask for Kimberly. Best Western is lucky to have a dedicated and courteous employee such as she. read more

Kimberly at the front desk is a wonderful person. She is enjoyable to chat with. We really enjoyed talking with her. Now to the room, actually the bathroom. The shower needs a liner not just a curtain. The floor was flooded with water. And the shower gel, & shampoo were out. I would suggest that when they clean the room. That they always fill the shower gel, & shampoo. And also check to make sure they are filled before giving the room out. read more

Checked in @ 9:40pm. Asked to use a public restroom, asked a second time in disbelief there isn't a public restroom, asked to verify the rate I received over the phone prior to arrival, Kimberly was very rude. She was either tired, having a bad evening or doesn't like to be asked twice. Bed is super small for two people. Great breakfast, Griselea helped me make the waffle, since my first attempt on my own was a failure. Nice amenities fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Soap, shampoo & conditioner were of nicer quality than other comparable 3 star facilities. Funky smell in the room when we first arrived. Hair on the floor in the bathroom along with a plastic price tag holder cut into two pieces. Bathtub is clean. Tile is dirty at entry and needs to be mopped. Dust on phone and nightstand. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Blanket is very worn. Griselea has a very pleasant disposition! Joseph at the front desk is very helpful and courteous! read more

We decided two nights before Thanksgiving to drive to Carlsbad. I hate driving long distances. Being a passenger is fine but I'm a high tension driver and easily get lost/disoriented. Breaking up the drive before the grapevine, we stayed at BW Liberty Inn Lebec (Arvin) and I'm so glad we made this decision. The bed was really comfortable with a soft mattress and multiple pillows. Room included conveniences like a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. A small breakfast buffet with DIY waffles was included in the booking. We had great customer service from Moon at the check in desk and the cleaning ladies in the hallway. Cleanliness was good and minor cosmetics things could use a freshening up. I did have a dead earwig at the foot of my bed. Water pressure was average also. The accessible bathroom had water spraying outside the curtain because there's no rim (as expected.) Room was stocked with plenty of clean towels and drinking cups. Temperature controls worked well. I would stay here again the next time we have a road trip to the San Diego area. read more

Location is conveniently located off of I-5. Close to amenities such as, food, coffee, gas, shopping, etc. The hotel was nicely decorated and very clean. Upon arrival the woman at the front desk seemed a bit timid but was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was fresh, tasty and well maintained. The woman managing it was very sweet and attentive. While visiting the front desk, to get change for tips (before having breakfast), we waited behind a guest who was standing there while the desk clerk (Jessica) was silently staring at her computer. When we finally got to the counter, Jessica said nothing. We asked her if we could please exchange two 10's for smaller change. She did not reply. She opened the till, said, "I can only do twenty one's". I said very nicely to her, "Good morning!" To which she replied with silence. She handed us the smaller bills, we thanked her and I asked for her name so I could leave this review. I don't believe any "guest" should be treated with such rudeness. This has not happened to us at all Best Western, which is why we choose them when we travel. It was disappointing, to say the least. We would stay at this location again, but hopefully we do not have to encounter "Jessica" again. Hope this helps. read more

This place has gone downhill since we started using this hotel as a halfway point to break up or NorCal to SoCal drive within the last 5 years...use to be a nice spot. Room had hair, stains in carpet, holes in the wall, mold in the bathroom, shampoo, body wash did not work or were empty. Toilet was not clean, had body hair and lint all over the top and bowl. Fridge was dripping and dirty. I cranked it up and by morning it was hardly cold. We skipped using the shower because it was dump. We left as soon as we could the next morning. The location was basically in the middle of no where. The rooms and breakfast were good as usual with BW but the breakfast ended at 9 AM! There weren't any restaurants nearby other than fast food and no cocktails to help unwind after a long trip. The bright side was Liz, a friendly person at the check in desk who was very accommodating. For the price of the room, I don't think it was worth it. read more

It was a cute little stop to stop before the grapevine. The cleaning crew were very friendly and helpful when it came to giving information- they were amazing! Also is a perfect stop for truckers, there's a 24hr opened Dennys that is just amazing- plus other food places near! Plus they had a pretty good breakfast in the morning:) The only down side with the water temp being mild, and the indoor hot tubs blowers/jets not working (but it was still nice to chill in). Also we weren't quite sure why the front desk person was so hidden in the far right of the counter, felt like we weren't supposed to ask them for help, when they'd be the only person in the "Lobby" to ask. Not to mention when we'd ask the cleaning crew questions that they weren't sure of the answer and the person sitting there wouldn't like pop up and help. I showed up at 10p without a reservation and exhausted from my drive,the front desk attendant was so kind and helpful. My room was on the 1st floor and I heard no noise at all when trying to sleep which was amazing. The room was clean, the blackout curtains closed all the way, and the bed was clean. There is a lot of parking, plus morning breakfast! I definitely recommend this hotel if you need a break before or after the grapevine. read more

At 9 pm the front desk made no attempt to ask noisy guests in the hallway to be considerate of people in rooms around them, so the loud people continued being loud in the halls until 11pm. A couple checked in next door to my room at 11:30pm and were so loud and inconsiderate I could not sleep. I got dressed and went to the front desk as the phone was not working to ask to move me or tell them to keep it down. They had no other rooms and the noise never stopped. I had to drive 10 hours the next day. I got terrible, interrupted sleep. This hotel is horrible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

The hotel is very run down. Carpets are all tattered in the lobby stairs, water pressure in bathrooms are bad. Lots of cracks in the ceiling of the room. Corners of the room Baseboards are dirty so obviously no deep cleaning going on. Just felt dirty. I was uncomfortable staying there because if that. The tiles in the bathroom were loose and would almost come up when we walked on them. I booked and paid online and when I got there I was informed they nolonger had the room so had me take a different room. The breakfast was free but very mediocre and the staff was in the way putting tons of boxes away and we were trying to eat. At the breakfast table my shirt got stuck to old syrup that had jot been properly cleaned up. I will not stay here again. Staff was not welcoming. 3.5 Stars, "A Decent Place to Stay." This is one of the regular hotels we have stayed at when traveling from the Bay Area. We have found it to be a reliable, clean, economical option in this area. The hotel honestly is not anything really special, but is a decent clean place to stay. One of our favorite amenities is the free breakfast in the morning. It's pretty much the usual complimentary breakfast with a nice assortment of eggs, sausage, yogurt, pastries, and of course lots of hot coffee. Oh yes, the infamous waffle making machine! The facilities are well-maintained and clean. The room similarly is well-maintained and everything works just fine. The hotel has an indoor pool and jacuzzi. I have used both and it was a nice way to end the day. So, for a reasonably priced hotel, for a comfortable night or two, it is a good choice. I should also note that there more eating options in recent years. There is a Denny's right next door which was excellent. There is a sandwich shop across the street, and of course the large Petro Truck Center with restaurant right next door. These are all within easy walking distance. read more

I stayed here twice on the way down south and back. The receptionist was nice and helpful. The second time we were told the pots of coffee were empty and they were not going to make more this was 4pm the lobby was not bad it had a worn looked but not tattered and torn more like the rugs had not been clean in awhile and worn thin. the bathroom in my room was so small depth wise couldnt shut the door if sitting on the toilet and toilet paper was just about out of hand reach. Lucky for us no routy guests our stays were quiet and uneventful. read more

The hotel from the exterior is in great shape. However, the interior of the room need some updating. There needs to be current amenities suck as USB ports, work space for travels. The tile flooring was loose and the grout was missing in a majority of the tile joints. The pool is the same, towel that are damaged, the underwater light was floating during our swim. We contacted the front desk who had to call an maintenance person from other property. Thank goodness my son and I were not electrocuted while swimming. Overall the people are nice but the interior of the property needs updating and more maintenance. read more

The QUESTION is if the Best Western Liberty Inn is worth $20 more a night than the Ramada Inn a few miles away. The ANSWER is yes if you have a family and desire convenience. This Best Western is clean and has pretty good security. No shady people milling around which is always a good thing. I'd say it was pretty quiet inside the room, but there will always be the sound of people slamming doors in the hallway in these types of places. - TV Remotes have been sanitized between guests. - They do offer an okay hot continental breakfast, but there are many other places to grab breakfast in this stopover town. - Hungry? Customer service was top notch. Speedy check in. Friendly employees our room was clean and tv. Control was individually wrapped in a bag and disinfectant . I loved that inside the shower they provide you with a dispenser that provides you with shampoo, shower gel and even conditioner one less thing to worry about when it comes to packing. There is no elevator but the stairs they have are no biggie my mom was able to go up and down the stairs comfortably and she is 75 years old. Mini fridge, microwave and coffee machine were perfect. They have a comfortable chair and an ottoman for your feet comfy indeed. The bed was comfortable and lots of pillows. Endless movies on TV for free. Quietness was perfect. A very clean yet simple hotel and its eco friendly too! Front desk staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The room was spotless and beds were comfortable which is probably the most important things I look for. It had a nice view of I5 but didn't notice too much noise later at night. When using the rear door of hotel it did smell a bit like cigarette smoke as I walked up the stairwell (no elevator at this location) which was a minor nuisance. I tried using the iron in room (looked like it needed replacing) and had to really work to iron my clothes. Later in afternoon went to go check out the pool and hot tub. Its an indoor pool and the only entrance is in lobby which seemed kind of strange. As you walk back to your room all wet in nothing but your shorts you walk up the stairs located about 10 feet away from the front desk. The breakfast area was very small with only a handful of tables not quite enough for the amount of guest that stay there. Food selection was pretty good to start off your day. But if its not good enough for you there is plenty of places to grab a bite within a minute or two drive away if not walking distance. Good clean reasonably priced place to stay for the person travelling through I5, working in the area or just shopping at the outlets across the overpass. read more

What didn't go wrong. Let's start from beginning 1. Was advertised with steam room. I wasn't super excited when this was my best hotel option in the area, based on all the reviews saying it smells like smoke. It was just for a night for work, so I figured it's not a big deal. When I arrived I saw that they're doing some renovations, and it smelled really strongly like paint or other chemicals, but didn't smell like cigarette smoke. There were no employees to be seen, and I was getting annoyed real quick. The carpenter working in the lobby noticed me walking all around looking and found the front desk girl for me who was in a room in the hall, she said because of the strong fumes--which I get, but put a sign or bell out or something please. She WAS nice though and checked me in quickly. Anyways, aside from that, I loved my giant room! It was one of the front corner rooms on the second floor with a little living room seating area, swiveling tv for both couch and bed viewing, smelled fine, was very clean, and comfy bed. Pretty typical Best Western quality. The entry to the rooms are interior which minimizes morning noise. The rooms ( I have 4 kids) were clean and comfortable. They have a guest laundry, which is great because my wife had to stay up until 2am doing laundry the first night of the trip (yay roadtripping with toddlers). In the morning we got down to breakfast late but the staff made sure my kids had something to eat, making several trips to the back to grab them some food. I can't express how grateful I am for this. The only complaint we had was that the tiles were loose in the bathroom and the groat was coming up, possibly harboring germs that can't be cleaned easily. That is a pretty minor concern for a roadside motel. We would definitely stay here again. I think BW is worth the extra money due to the quality of the rooms they provide. read more

I am so glad we stopped here. We are on our way to universal studios from the Sacramento ca area. We knew we were leaving later in the day and didn't want to pay the high prices in that area ($200+) plus this is right off the freeway close to tons of shopping and food choices. And I wasn't up for driving around L.A. in an unfamiliar are in the dark. Worked our perfect. We'll be stopping here again on our next trip to Disneyland/universal. We needed a hotel and this was $50 less than than the Hampton nearby. The room looked good and had the usual amenities. We had adequate towels, shampoos, soap, etc. The walls and floors are thin. The neighbor's loud toddler disturbed us from early morning. The upstairs neighbor was walking around shortly after 4:30. . The complimentary breakfast was close to Best Western standards. Eggs were fine, bacon almost cooked, breads and fruit ok. There was a display of three coffee pumps, two caffeinated, one not. Both caffein ran out. When I complained at checkout inwas told I should have realized there was a third caffeinated pump.elsewhere. Checking in the clerk wasn't as friendly and helpful as some. Reading reviews I saw that others have had issues with contentious staff. This is a business where the customer isn't always right. Next time we will see how the Hampton is by comparison. Sleep, a better breakfast and friendlier staff might be worth an extra $50. Still we had a comfortable bed and the amenities and breakfast we paid for. read more

I've never, ever been to a hotel who Leaves out snacks all night for their guest. ;-))) Thank you for putting just the right amount of chemicals in the pool and NOT too much where I feel like I cant breath and or get a headache. No one working here is wears a mask although there is a sign saying to wear a mask at the front door and we are having a second wave with numbers of 150000 new cases per day in America. I was running in a field (Tejon Ranch) for a whole day in the sun. Ya gotta love working on commercials. I was tired, I was grubby, I did not want to drive an hour and a half back through the Grapevine to LA, only to turn around the next day and return by 5AM for another round of running. Luckily this hotel was nearby. My friend and I split the room so it ended up being thirty seven dollars each -- OK, I can't even remember the last time I got a room this cheap, MAYBE Prom Night, but even then I am pretty sure we paid more. Everything was standard, clean, and the bathroom was surprisingly (and a little oddly) big. They even had a dry sauna (which unfortunately was really just a room with heat, I don't know if too many people besides myself have used it) an indoor pool and a spa which was nice if I had brought my suit. There's even food (well, a Panda Express, Iron Skillet, Starbucks and a Wendys -- no local restaurant which was disappointing) within walking distance if needed. If you are driving on the 5 through the Grapevine or running in a field all day it's a perfectly acceptable place to stay in the middle of nowhere. read more

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel. When you are driving down HWY 5, this is a little oasis before going up over the hill. Leaving Thursday night, we get across Pacheco before dark, then drive until we reach this hotel. The next morning, we are up and showered and dive into LA for lunch at the Getty. This hotel is wonderfully adequate. They have a nice breakfast which includes make-your-own waffles (mmmmmm!) and fruit, danishes, cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice, yogurt... well, you get the picture. The rooms are large and the water pressure in the shower is wonnnnnderful! Beds have been comfy and there are the little touches like flat screens, blackout curtains, and iron/ironing boards in the room. Check in was easy and since we were rolling in past midnight, the twinkle and sparkle in the eyes of the young man who checked us in was very nice. Two small downers, no coke products in the vending machine (I was traveling with a confirmed diet coke drinker) and the complimentary computer in the lobby was so slow, it's probably still downloading my hotmail! ----but still it WAS complimentary, at the next hotel I had to pay 35cents a minute! Can you tell I love this hotel? Maybe it's just that it's there when I really need a bed and a shower and a waffle! read more

For a 'motel' in the middle of nowhere, it's one of the better ones around. When compared to hotels/motels in general, it is lacking. However, most of us who would even consider stopping to stay here is probably because we're cruising down I-5 and we're exhausted and just need to SLEEP! This is the 2nd time we've stayed here, purely out of exhaustion and it's been okay in terms of the bed size and it was clean enough. This is not a hotel you decide ahead of time to stay at. Either you are exhausted from driving, or your car breaks down (which happened to me). But given that there are not a plethora of hotels to choose from off I-5 near the Grapevine, the Best Western fits the bill. The facilities are okay. They were clean, the room was comfortable, and the staff friendly. Starbucks, McDonald's, and Panda Express are across the street. Plus, there is a tiny replica of the Statue of Liberty out front! We checked in late I understand that but we where given the most horrible room it was next to the storage room stairs and an exit all night and early morning I could hear doors slamming people running and talking extremely thin walls. When I went to the front desk to complain a lady who was pregnant I couldn't get her name simply said "oh yah" that's about it. I asked her y'all should do something about that room she said oh I'll tell my manager with no care about customer service. In my opinion that area shouldn't even be a room since the noise is constant. The breakfast was decent minus the ants in the condiment area.
