I have been a fan of Salty's BBQ since I had their food at the Cruizin' Shine car show. I really love that their owner, Jeff, is very supportive of military veterans, local law enforcement, and the community as a whole. This location of Salty's is off White Lane. There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking. As you pull up you'll see their smokers in front. They also have a drive thru. Walking in you'll pass through the big patio, but they also have a small indoor area that was nice and cool with AC. I ordered online and came by for a pick up. I had their Brisket and Pulled Pork Combo ($19.50 for ¼ combo) which came with a side so I opted for the Spicy Mac n Cheese, and a Pyrenees Roll, and BBQ on the side. Yum! When I opened the togo container the box was generously stuffed with food. It was definitely more food than I could handle but I eagerly ate as much as I could. Both the brisket and the pulled pork were fantastic. I like that they kept the bbq sauce on the side for my order so I could pour it or dip it when I was read to eat it. The mac and cheese was also tasty. Just a kick of spice but not too spicy. Love Salty's! I'll definitely be back and try more of their menu. I also hear they are opening a third location soon. Drive thru times are not good. Way too long Food is delicious Prices are a little high for the portion size but have had higher elsewhere. MAJOR problem is at end of day they always run out of food like Mac and cheese or tri tip or briscuit and when you drive over at 6 pm for dinner when they close at 7pm. That's very disappointing and this has happened multiple times. A food restaurant should not be running out of food because they are losing money from the customer as a couple times. I have turned around and just walked off and went somewhere else for dinner. The food itself is delicious. Bread is good. I'm a long time fan of Salty's. Their BBQ has always been next level. The house bbq sauce has the perfect tang and is crafted to pair perfectly with their BBQ. I can't get enough of their tri-tip, but everything is great and worth getting. If it's your first time, do yourself a favor and get a nice assortment from one of their combo platters. I stopped by on "Friday Night Cruizin'" with some buddies. "Friday Night Cruizin'" is a car show they host every first and third Friday at their White Lane location. The first Friday tends to be their larger showing, so I definitely recommend stopping by then. I grabbed a Salty's classic, the "pig sandwich", on this visit with extra coleslaw on the side. I can never have enough of their slaw. The folks behind the counter and on the grill are always so friendly. The vibe is always great. I am a big fan of the old school railroad passenger car you order in and can dine in is always a highlight. With the weather being so nice right now, we enjoyed their spacious patio before taking a lap to check out all the cool cars. You order at the counter inside and they have a big outdoor patio area where there's also the soda fountain and bathrooms and the big smokers/cookers for the meats. There is a small interior are for seating. It was a cold day so we luckily got a table inside. They had a steady flow of customers but we ordered and had our food quick. It was nice to know it's a genuine quick service restaurant and you can come for lunch on a lunch break and not have to wait very long. I ordered the combo plate of 1/2 pound brisket and pulled pork and green beans as my side. It's expensive for sure at about $28 for that plate but I planned to make it into two meals and save half. It's also super high quality meat, you get what you pay for so I have no problem splurging when the quality is there. We had a long lunch meeting and felt full the rest of the afternoon! I have a nephew from L.A., and he is a big fan of Guy Fieri's Diners Drive-Ins. and Dives. He wanted to try Salty's Bbq after watching the episode they were featured on. So we took him here along with his parents when they visited us. There are two locations. We took them to the location on White Lane because they have indoor seating, and it was hot the day they dropped by so we all wanted air conditioning. Salty's Sampler Platter is what the 5 of us shared. It came with Pulled Pork, Tri-Tip, Chicken, Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs, Brisket, and Hot LInks. We deovoured it all. Not a single leftover piece of meat was left after we were through with it. I asked my nephew if it met his expectations or if he was disappointed. He said that Guy did not let him down. He gave Salty's a 5 stars Thumbs UP. I liked all the meats too. I was not as enthusiastic as he was. Still, I felt that it was a good meal. Wouldn't mind coming back again. It is a terrific place to especially take out of town guests to. Give them a taste of a local Bakersfield restaurant that has been featured nationally. I ordered a brisket sandwich with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and mac & cheese. The brisket was cooked perfectly - tender and flavorful. The BBQ sauce was delicious, and the bread, a "Pyrenees roll", was fantastic. It was toasted and buttered (maybe garlic butter). The coleslaw and mac & cheese were also very good. Sometimes bbq spots can be a little intimidating for us gals with all of the bbq pit masters and male energy running through the place but everyone that works here is nice and patient with you if your not a regular bbq connoisseur. They've always been kind when I've ordered at the register and I like that they bring out your food to you vs having people crowd around the front to claim their food. They have a good system going. Nice people. I love the indoor and outdoor concept for dining. On a warm day sitting outside on their shaded patio is really nice and comfortable. They have a good amount of benches and tables, so even when this spot gets busy we find a place to sit. Inside is actually adorable as it's an old train car that they've made into a small sit down restaurant style. Super cool for kids or if you're just trying to stay indoors. My all time favorite dish here is the saltys special sandwich. It's a 10/10 and everytime I recommend it people fall in love with it! The saltys special is tri tip, pulled pork, peppers, bbq sauce, and coleslaw on a delicious hoagie roll. It's the perfect hot/cold sandwich combo. Beyond flavorful and delicious. I get this sandwich hold the peppers and then grab an extra side of bbq sauce. I'm telling you, you have to try this. For side dishes I actually think their coleslaw is the hands down best side here and the beans are a close second. Even though the coleslaw is so good it already comes on the salty special sandwich so for that reason I usually go with the beans or the spicy Mac and cheese as a side.
