I thought this was a fairly nice Best Western. It's located out on the highway at the edge of town. It's clearly the best hotel that Coalinga has to offer. However, in all fairness, if this hotel were compared to similar hotels in larger cities, it would probably be nothing special. The hotel is neat and clean and nicely appointed. There is a bar in the lobby, which is something I have not seen before at a Best Western. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and is fairly typical of what you'll probably get at most other comparable Best Westerns. read more

Our stay at Best Western Plus Coalinga Inn was wonderful. Traveling with a 4 legged son can be challenging but we all had a comfortable nights rest after a long day of traveling. Especially wanna shout out to how clean the room and bed and bathroom were during our stay. The cleaning crew does an awesome job! The showers have shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispenser. (The conditioner was out, must be really good) There was complementary breakfast served from 5 AM to 9 AM. There were limited amount of options, but that is the least in my opinion. Overall, friendly service and just a great stay. I love Best Western. read more

The place is new and roomy. Front desk clerk is friendly and efficient. I used an accessible room. The shower is equipped with necessary bars and a chair to sit on which many other hotels do not have. The toilet is a bit too low for accessibility, it needs a riser. The AC is cold and bed is comfortable, but the RCA TV is outdated and reacts slowly to the remote. In general, I would come back and recommend it to others. read more

I like it here. Dont get me wrong. Its coalinga, nothing fun around it other than State prison, State hospital and bunch of trees. But this lodge literally 7 min from State hospital, serve very simple breakfast, have a tiny bar that opens 4-10pm, small fitness and small outdoor pool. I just wish, the outdoor pool is heated. Two days im here the weather have been 69-71F, and the water felt 10 degrees cooler. I want to doordash food, and only subway, burger king, starbucks available. Customer service is superb. We had a king bed room. There is also a sofa that pulls out into a bed. Bed was comfortable. Room also has a small refrigerator and microwave. They do sell a small selection of microwave meals in the lobby. Bathroom has a large step in shower. There are shampoo, conditioner and shower get dispensers on the wall. There was also a hairdryer that I found later. My only complaint was the free breakfast. The power went out in the kitchen so we were unable to get the eggs, bacon, sausage. Pancake maker was broken. We did still have access to yogurt, bagels, sliced bread, gravy, dry cereal. Toaster did work. Coffee and tea variety available also. I forgot to mention there is a single cup coffee maker in the room that fit k-cups. There were a few in the room but bring your own if you have a favorite kind. read more

We checked in and by 7pm asked for a different room as the toilet wasn't flushing well. Told no rooms available and were handed a plunger. Each time plunging. At 4am my husband went 3 floors down to get towels as it decided to overflow. Finally stopped and we had towels everywhere. Had to go 3 floors down to use a bathroom. When we notified the manager after we had left as she did not come on till 9 AM, we were told we could only get 10,000 points back. We had used 28,000 to book the room. Her excuse was we got a free room we shouldn't expect everything back. I contacted corporate. They sent a message that they would get back to us in 2 to 5 . Naturally that didn't happen. I contacted them again. They said we used the we were only entitled to 10,000 points. I guess the services were a a bathroom three down and the breakfast buffet. I don't consider that using the amenities and obviously if we had 28,000 points we have stayed at best Western many times. Buyer beware we will never stay at one again. Wow, I haven't stayed at a Best Western since I stayed at 'Thee Best' Best Western Hotel in Japan. Only this location was obviously and comparatively different in many ways! Plenty of space versus small and petite. Anyways, this motel location was very remote, but I wouldn't mind staying here again if I'm planning another Cali road-trip. Here's are highlights as to why: ~ First, they accept dogs, so we had a convenient room on the first floor which makes sense. The room itself was more spacious than average, appeared clean, and had a king bed. ~ There were grassy areas on the side entrances for pet relief as well. ~ For security, I did see cameras everywhere. So I felt pretty secure about the area in general. Even though looking around seemed like a barren wasteland. ~ The bathroom sink and shower had EXCELLENT water pressure. Even though we did see signs outside to conserve water. Eh, it's California, and the drought issue will never be solved. ~ I guess what also impressed was the tall stand-up shower lined with new tiles. ~ We were provided a microwave and mini fridge which came in very handy. Especially since my senior mutt needs her food warmed up. ~ Direct TV with movie channels. As well as casting from your device to monitor, another plus! ~ In the lobby area, I was surprised to see a small bar and lounge chairs. Duh, it's a bar Ron! Keep in mind, it isn't a "full bar" with a real bartender, but run by a hotel staff member that can mix simple drinks. ~ Roman was manning the bar, so he poured our drinks and set up our late night pizza order. I even spotted him cleaning the bar stools, and maintaining the area. That kid was awesome! ~ Now, here's thee BEST Western reason why you stay here; The breakfast buffet! Unlimited coffee, milk, or tea. Sausage, eggs, cereals, fruits, biscuits, pastries, and an automatic pancake maker! YES the automatic pancake maker! An engineering marvel lol!! Keep in mind this isn't the greatest breakfast in the world, but it'll suffice. ~~~ Shorter Highlights ~~~ Normally, I'd give a place like this 3 or 4 stars, but our stay being a quick overnight rest stop, was nothing but positive. Its not Vegas, but its also not your typical rundown motel. Pretty safe area too, even though a State Prison is nearby (which really means its even safer than you'd think). Large clean rooms with useful amenities. Helpful staff members. A small bar and of course the complimentary breakfast buffet! read more

Spent 4.5 hours going over the Tejon pass in the snow, stop and go traffic in both directions due to rain and holiday travel. Decided to start the drive over the next morning and checked in here since it was close and brand new. This is a really nice property, pleasantly surprised. Nicer than Harris Ranch, and less expensive, but no good food close by. Harris Ranch is only 15 minutes away. Definitely would stay here again. read more

Perfect stopping point if you are visiting Coalinga or traveling on I-5, although it is not directly next to the freeway. I had a king room on the first floor with a shower, facing the back parking lot. Quiet; firm mattress; and a hot, strong shower, which are the most important points for me. The rooms are clean and quite up to date -- spacious, had both a sofa and coffee table and a long desk, microwave, good bedside lights for reading, and mini fridge. AC and WiFi worked fine. Decor had some nice upscale elements such as a slate (?) floor in the bathroom and a roomy tile shower. This was my first hotel stay since Covid and I chose BestWestern because I trusted they would have safe Covid procedures. Masks were required in the lobby, and the free breakfast was set out in paper bags instead of usual buffet style. Not a great breakfast for health-conscious people (Otis spunkmeyer muffin, small granola bar, small apple, and bottle of water) but I understand Covid makes things tough and there WAS coffee and hot water for tea. THREE STRIKES; I'm out! Last time we stayed here the front desk called us not once, but TWICE between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. to see if we would be checking-in, (we were already asleep in the room)! They offered us no compensation for our interrupted sleep. None. This time, they GAVE A WORKING KEY CARD TO A STRANGER, who then walked into our room while we were sleeping!!! NOT OKAY! I sat straight up in bed and yelled, "HEY, GET OUT!", at the top of my lungs, (at which time the man backed up closing the door). My adrenaline was on overdrive and I could not get back to sleep the rest of the night. We packed up and left early. This is an outrage that they would do this, putting not only our lives in danger but that of the man whom walked into our room thinking it was his! It's not lost on me that this hotel is just down the street from a prison. The incompetence of this crew is an understatement. The manager did deduct 50% of room charge this time, but not enough in my estimation as I left with only the two hours sleep I got before the stranger walked in on us! And isn't that why we all pay for hotel rooms, to get a good nights sleep? read more

BEWARE: BED BUGS!!! My husband and I were horrified to find a bed bug on our 5 month old infant this morning in this hotel! The hotel was less than helpful, trying to suggest we brought the bed bug in with us! Impossible as we had just come from visiting our family! This has ruined our vacation and is costing us a couple thousand dollars in changed plans, replacing luggage, dry cleaning, etc. The hotel has offered us nothing and even refused to give us a clean room to move to while we regrouped this morning, forcing us to keep our baby in the room to risk getting bitten again. When I needed a place for my mother-in-law to stay while visiting town, we settled on the "new place" and were tickled to discover that it really IS 'that' nice. M-I-L felt pampered and cared for while she was there. The decor was quiet and restful. This is a lady who usually has a long list of complaints about everything in life. But at this place, she was completely satisfied. More than satisfied. I was super glad that she was cozy and comfortable. Good job! We also ate breakfast and were very pleased with the spread of food. I have never seen a pancake machine before and was blown away by its efficiency. The place appears fairly new. Lobby is clean, sleek, and neat. No complaints about the room other than the small ironing board -- could use a full-size ironing table. Breakfast is decent, includes typical hot dishes (oatmeal, eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes). Didn't try the pool as Coalinga is a very windy town. This place was okay. It is a newer building, built about 5 years ago. Decor was too dark and that made it look shadowy but the room seemed like it had been cleaned. The so called eighties artwork on the ceiling was weird and we laughed about it like what the heck is that? I liked the kitchenette with a separate sink and microwave and keurig. Good thing was that they gave us a room that was in a quiet area of the hotel, and housekeeping did not disturb us before the checkout time. We had been driving late and we were able to sleep until 10:30. Location is near a state prison and it's in a farmworker community so lots of cheap motels nearby that look like they were from the 50s and never upgraded. About 10 miles west of 5 freeway, so it added 20 miles to our trip, but they had a room available for a last minute reservation on a weekend. A negative was when I called the direct phone number for the Coalinga Best Western on December 4th at 1 a.m., the woman who I spoke to was rude. read more

We had been driving a 26-foot Uhaul for 12 hours and stopped in Coalinga for the night. Gabriel was working the front desk and was personable and very friendly. He assisted us with parking and helped us find food at 9pm. We also lucked out because the hotel had a bar! The perfect way to end a long day of driving. The bartender, Brianna, was so sweet and also personable and very friendly. Coalinga is about 15 miles off of I-5, but this hotel is worth the stop! read more

I stay at this place usually every Friday night when I visit my husband. Unfortunately I'm multiple occasions I have left belongings behind and when I call to see if housekeeping has returned my personal belongings they informed me they were not turned it. This time was a $800.00 pair of sunglasses "Gucci" and I have now had to file a police report. They need to do a security check on their house keepers when they come in and out. I'm so fed up!!!! Clean and roomy ! Just needed a place to stay during our road trip back home to Seattle. The price was good. I always check with Expedia and once again they were able to get me a better price. Stayed here and it's beautiful!!! We slept like babies so nice and new! Staff very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast. Also very nice view Coalinga is known for their hills and it was a beautiful day and you could see everything it was amazing. We definitely will stay there again.
