This shop is so darn cute... it is filled with stuff... some practical and lots not. They carry children's books and toys, home decor, aprons, clocks, socks, snacks, cold drinks, and local produce, Rosa Brother milk ( chlorate, strawberry, banana, horchata, root beer float, vanilla), cheese, cold cuts, nuts, honey, candy, fudge, and jelly and jam. Two more cool things about this place are the big sequoia tree base and coin operated carnival type kids shooting gallery and singing mechanical trophy heads. The tree base is on the first floor. The base is pretty wide and from the rings, the age is around 2000 years old. Pretty neat!! The gallery is on the second floor. If you do not want to use the stairs, the elevators are in the middle of the complex next to the restrooms. The singing trophy head cracks me up every time. The shop is located in Bravo Farms in Kettleman City off Interstate 5. Bravo Farms is a top notch tourist trap that lures you in as an air conditioned respite offering clean public restrooms, children's outdoor play area decked out out as an old western town from the 1800s, dog park, Tesla car charging terminals, BBQ joint, children's carnival shooting gallery games, Doc Burnstein's ice cream, and this shop filled with kitschy souvenirs. All cutely decorated in an Old Western town theme with a very modern upkeep. Modern and clean with an upscale farm house feel. The prices are tourist trap pricing though. Warning: on weekends and busy travel days, traffic is horrendously slow to get back on the main road to get to the freeway.

Lexus (or Alexis) sorry with a mask I couldn't tell which was your name but you're such a sweetheart. You truly made my day. Wine tasting suggestion was on point! Traffic is so bad getting to and from that this was just what I needed. you cannot beat 5 bottles of wine tasting for the price. Really. And they have everything including my favorite Caymus brand wine. The selection was middle range but a great selection to pass time. Thanks for the suggestions you gave! The only thing I would change about today is knowing you're a Dallas Cowboys fan lol. But really, thanks for the hospitality. You're a gem

The Shoppe at Kettlemen is a cool place off the freeway on the way back to AZ from CA for me. We recognized the place right away since it was remodeled completely by Redwood Kings on tv. The wheelhouse and everything about this place was fantastic to look at. There was a shop to one end, selling jams, cheeses and all sorts of chotchkies and other things. Then there was an ice cream parlor, a second floor "farmtique" store and at the other end, the Texas BBQ restaurant. The restaurant area was very small, but with ample seating. The menu was also limited. You basically order from the counter and your name is called when your food is ready. My man had the ribeye sandwich, and said that it was to die for. I tasted it, and as a non-metal eater, I actually liked it. The flavor was nice, and it really melted in your mouth. The sandwich was served with only cole slaw, which we didn't eat (not for a reason, really). I had a pecan praline sugar cone from the parlor. Who needs food when you have ice cream? I digress. I will definitely stop here again in our travels. This is a great place with tons to look at. A nice place to stretch your legs, get a snack and shop! Take a few minutes to look around.

    Tasty cheeses found here!

We first asked her if they have any seafood choices, to which she said "no". Then we asked for a menu, and literally the first thing on the menu was a Salmon salad. We ordered that and a few more dishes and a hot tea. She rolled her eyes at us every time we asked about the dressing on the side or a substitute for a side. And then we asked for a cup of hot tea, and she hands us a clear plastic cup. I told her it would melt and she looked at me with such attitude, as if I said something offensive or inappropriate. She kept huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. We ended up canceling the whole order and leaving. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if there's lack of training, but it was very disappointing.

But if you're planning a visit, build in serious buffer time. We stopped in on Memorial Day and, with several parties ahead of us in line, didn't place our order until nearly 20 minutes after arriving. By the 45-minute mark, our food still hadn't come out for two paninis and a soup. What made it especially frustrating was watching parties who arrived after us get their cheese orders and drinks served before anyone had even started assembling our sandwiches. It was clear the shop was understaffed for the holiday weekend, with one person managing the counter and another in the back prepping. We ended up asking to take the sandwiches cold just to get out the door, only to have both stuffed into one small bag, sloppily wrapped. The soup, unfortunately, came out lukewarm regardless. None of this felt malicious. The shop has an unhurried, artisanal quality that's part of its appeal, but that can't fully account for the gap between the experience and a nearly hour-long wait for a simple lunch order while others moved ahead of us. Come for the cheese, come for the atmosphere. Just don't come hungry with anywhere to be.

I like milk and its by-products, especially ice cream so this place seemed like a natural place to visit. And, even though it was small, and even though it is not in anyone's map of California places to see before one dies, this place was a tourist attraction that I will remember till the day I can no longer enjoy milk and the mustache it leaves behind. When we arrived to the spot there was a sole attendant, his name was Anthony and he was endearing to the max. I explained to him an abridge story of our road trip and why we made it a spot to visit. He was like really, like he could not believe that this was an intentional stop on a multi hour road trip. I was like, in my mind, this is not a Thrifty ice cream run bro, this is like a milk experience, of course it is a spot on a road trip. What I did say was like--- you are wearing a uniform, (like one of those that (I Love) Lucy waited for in the 1950's), and there was a window into a factory with workers producing milk, and you have souvenirs, thus the joint is a stop to engage with, a stop to plan for, a stop that naturally fits in someone's road trip's tour. After I said a version of all of this, his smile and eyes became wide, like he really was understanding that his presence and this joint was not just a local milk joint but could be a pit stop that can go white with fame. My intention was to get a milkshake but Anthony explained that they did not sell any. I mean I accepted it quickly, but with some lament as a milkshake is my favorite ice-cream by-product, but I made due with what I could. First, I got a chocolate milk in a bottle. Anthony was kind enough to open it for me. I used to be a big fan of chocolate milk, cause it was a staple in the school's free lunch program and I always found it refreshing and sweet and cooling. Which makes me want to define the difference between refreshing and cooling in terms of taste. I guess refreshing makes one go ahhh like after taking a sip of cold cola, and something cooling makes someone feel the crisp of cold within the body, like eating a chilled lemon paleta/popsicle. And on this day, I drank a bottle of milk and found it to be a nostalgic snack down to the last sip. It is important to note that Denise noticed that they had flavors like Orange Blossom milk, and banana ice cream flavors. So this places dares enough to think outside the box or should I say milk carton? Anthony was also lovely enough to bring out samples of their packaged ice cream. I will be honest I cannot remember all the flavors I tried but I think there was cookie and cream. And the ice cream tasted rich, deep, and fresh, like it been churned recently for pure enjoyment. Like it was meant to be good first, then sold next. And thus at its core it was artisan, not mass produced. I guess that is why they explain their products to be "farm direct." Since I could not get a shake or a cone, I decided to get one of their ice cream sandwiches. I went with what I tasted and knew to be good---- the cookies and cream. This decision was also based on the cookies they used. I reviewed the picture but the cookie was not listed. I ate the sandwich outside in the car, and every bite was a morsel of smooth crunch and velvety ice cream. It was familiar and new, it was reason enough to want to visit the place again. In fact I tried too, on the way back from the road trip but it was closed on that day. Too bad, I have put it on my return spots, I found it to be that wonderful, but again milk, ice cream, and all that it stems from it, I am a fan of, so it makes sense for me. But until then, I got the sweatshirt I got from this place to remember it!
