Service was good, desk man was nice. Beds were comfy. Water got hot which is great. Good water pressure. 24 hour coffee in the lobby. Bathtub was amazingly clean. Only downfall would be that the incidental hold is a hundred dollars which seems higher than most. read more

1-Star Review Avoid this hotel if you value your safety, privacy, or belongings. After spending the night, I discovered that my room door never actually locked. Anyone could have walked in directly from the hallway at any time. I immediately notified the front desk, and an employee accompanied me to my room and confirmed that the lock was defective. The disturbing part is that I had cash and other valuable personal items in the room while we were away, completely unaware that the room was unsecured. Thankfully, nothing appears to have been taken, but that doesn't excuse the hotel's failure to provide one of the most basic expectations of any hotel--a room that locks. What happened next was even worse. I was told the manager would be contacted, but when I returned to the front desk, I was simply told there was "nothing they could do" because it was a technical issue. No apology. No offer to move us to a secure room. No compensation. No sense of urgency or concern that a guest had been staying in an unlocked room. A broken room lock isn't a minor inconvenience--it's a serious security failure that puts guests and their property at risk. The hotel's complete lack of accountability and indifference to the situation was shocking. I've already reported this to Best Western corporate and disputed the charge with my credit card company because I don't believe I should have to pay for a room that failed to provide even the most basic level of security. Rooms: 3 They have all the essentials. The water gets hot quickly. The appliances all work. The air conditioner and heater work well. However, the rooms are small. The dresser and door to the fridge hits the bed when fully opened. Staff: 4 Friendly staff! They have good people here. Cleanliness: 3 The rooms and bedding were clean. There were a few dark yellow stains on the tile behind the toilet Misc: There was construction without any notice. The jackhammer from 8:30 to 6:30 was an issue, as I was trying to work from the hotel. There was also construction out front that kicked up concrete dust onto cars and into the lobby. The lobby got hazy from it. My mom, with a prosthetic leg, almost tripped over the extension cord that was running through the entryway. It was for the construction workers' power tools. Absolutely disgusting!!! This hotel is worse than a motel, I would never recommend anyone to stay here. Customer service is horrible and the rooms are dirty. I have stayed with Best Western Plus many times but this location is a disgrace for their name. We found a special rate online at first we were told that the price will be as stated online and the host that gave us the bill said he's going to make the changes to the rate in a few and we can just sign it but in the morning we will get the receipt with the correct amount. That was fine but at checkout we were given the same higher amount though we already had a discussion and agreement on the price. The manager was rude! She lacked total common sense on how to deal with the customers. The lobby is pretty and newly renovated that got us excited thinking oh wow the rooms are going to be pretty as well. Looks can be deceiving for sure as we stayed in room 131 there's barely any space to walk around, smelled real funky, the sheets felt moist and dirty. I went to the front desk to ask for air freshener and new clean blankets. I was provided with 1 blanket which I used to lay it on the bed so I can sleep on it. There's no ventilation in the room beside the AC which barely seem to be working. The bathroom was ok not exceptionally clean but to my surprise there was a dead cockroach behind the bathroom door. This is beyond disgusting seems to be they need some pest control. When the issue was addressed to the owner/manager she did not even apologize but rather one of the other employees did. What kind of hotel is this that they cannot even keep it pest/bugs free. Breakfast is served from 6-10am during your stay and is ok nothing phenomenal. If you really want a good night sleep please do yourself a favor and find a decent place. read more

I don't understand how we paid $175 for our room...it just wasn't worth the price. We had two queens and they were so uncomfortable, absolutely no support and I woke up with my hip in so much pain. There were curtains you can close, so thankfully it wasn't bright in our room while we were trying to sleep, but we were right next to the lobby and were woken by loud patrons and the kitchen using a mixing bowl early in the morning. There is complimentary breakfast, but they said it gets delivered once a week and they throw out all of their labels and boxes and don't know what's in the food so we couldn't eat it since we have allergies. The rooms are tiny and there was a weird smell in our room (not smoke, but kind of sour). There is a decent sized parking lot, and the back door is supposed to open with your key card, but didn't work, so we had to walk around the front in the Connecticut cold. There is no pool, and we went to go use the exercise room, but none of the machines were plugged in so we couldn't use any of them. I wouldn't stay here again, and am considering requesting a refund. This has been incredibly stressful, and not at all rejuvenating or restful. read more

I wish I had one good thing to say about this hotel. I don't. It is EXTREMELY SMALL. As in, compact. There is a bed and a window. It feels cramped like a prison cell. The carpet is old and smells terrible. There is not even a microwave in the room ( To be fair, there's not enough space in this prison cell of a hotel anyway) As a Diamond member, I have 0 Perks, it's useless, it's a fancy title but that's where it ends, in the title. It is EXPENSIVE. I paid about $100 a night here on a random weekday...I could have gotten a Hilton or Marriott chain hotel for that price. There is no pool or anything, there's a garbage "lobby" but that's about it. This is a glorified roadside motel, it does not deserve your attention. Very noisy, within sight of I 95 so truck & traffic noise all night. It's actually in Bridgeport. Room was okay. Woken at 430 AM by a loud prostitute on her phone while she waited to enter the room across the hall. Called 911 when a fight erupted... loud banging & screaming. 6 cops came arrested 1 woman and took 1 to the hospital. Cops cleared at 545AM. Front entry security non existent and the back doors are not alarmed so they could be propped open. Scary. read more

This hotel is average at most. Few things that were annoying: 1) First few nights our floor smelled of mildew/dirty mop/urine 2) The pull out sofa in the sweet was too big for the suite, so we had to rearrange all of the furniture. VERY ANNOYING. 3) Toilet was leaking rust. 4) Key cards did not work for the back of the hotel, so we made the front the desk aware and they told us they would look into it. We were never updated and the key cards still did not work properly, so I highly doubt it was actually looked into. 5) Breakfast was good but was minimal and there was no variety. It was never fully stocked either. 6) Cleaning staff did not replenish toilet paper, so we had to go out and purchase our own at Walmart. Some good things: 1) Location was good. Prior negative posts addressed and further renovations coming. Welcoming lobby includes business center. Immediately behind is breakfast area providing healthy and abundant options. My room's sleeping area barely contained a queen with integrated side tables, sofa chair, desk/ergonomic chair and entertainment armoire with frig and hot drink station - but that was ok with me as single traveler. LED goose-necked sconces nice touch. Large closet and modern-design bathroom. One-star deduction for scratched paint, noisy air handler, illuminated clock/radio that couldn't be dimmed and scratchy towels. Good value and location with Whole Foods a half-mile away and nice Mexican restaurant across a parking lot. read more

It was the only hotel close to where we needed to be, so we took a chance. Lemon, lemon, cherry. We had reserved a suite. When we got the room we were smacked by the pungent odor of pets and mold. We went to the front desk and were moved. The second room was an improvement. Only smacked by mold this time. Returned to the front desk and the only person working there (who, to be fair was exceptionally nice, tried to help). Do you remember those Scooby Doo scenes where everyone ran in and out of the doors in a long hallway? That's what happened. It was determined that all the suites smell of mold. Apparently suites are popular with wet dogs who smoke and have bladder conditions. She was finally able to set us up in adjoining non-suite rooms that did not smell. They just needed to be cleaned. So we are currently chilling in a mold suite trying not to touch anything while huddled against the open window. read more

I would call this a middle of the road hotel. Nothing special about it and nothing really off about it either. Our room was clean and ready on check in. At certain points throughout the day and night it was loud above us but perhaps there was a pack of rhinoceroses staying above us. This was a great place to stay for our family of three (two adults and an eight-year-old). Some highlights: - Although it is an older building, all the amenities were updated, clean and functional. - The in-room refrigerator was very handy, as was the public-use microwave and dining area downstairs. - Plenty of free on-site parking - Free breakfast was great, and the staff were A+. My wife has a number of special dietary needs, and from the second day on, they remembered her special requests and had everything ready for her without our even having to ask. - Free Wi-Fi was a nice plus. - Nice neighborhood, convenient central location, easy freeway access. - Beautiful, fun park with a playground, lake and lots of engaging wildlife was just a half-mile up the road (Gould Manor Park). - Excellent value for the price paid. The only downside at all was no in-room safe, but that hardly seems worth deducting a star. On the whole, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation. read more

Pretty awful, for what we paid. The room (#101) smelled terribly like mold. The bathroom door did not close because the sink was in the way (see picture). Finally, another customer asked us if we had pets (we didn't) because "the first floor is normally for customers with pets". This may explain the smell. read more

Concierge took care of everything and was even able to accommodate my last minute room request. Even though they were in the middle of renovations it didn't effect my stay one bit. How can such a expensive hotel be so bad? Air system was not functioning on a very hot and humid night, there was a sound of continually hammering echoed in the room. I figured the hammering was air being trapped in the pips. This sound along with people talking next door and the consent smell of sewage turned this very quick stay a nightmare. The room I was given was so tiny that it made rooms in manhattan look good. They call themselves pet friendly! But then how come you are charging extra for my dog to stay in a room that's already been paid for? The lobby was done nicely, the breakfast hours was better then other such a type hotels, but what they offered was nothing to write home about. I had a big event early the next morning, and would have loved a few hours of restful sleep, instead I had a miserable rest. The pillow was so small that my head would slide off of it. The bed was so hard, was like sleeping on hard cement. I called down to the receptionist, she told me there was nothing she can do for me except to sent me to another room for $45 dollars more. She really must have been joking. I had already paid over $150.00 for this miserable room! Gross overall. My room was dirty. The sheets on one bed were stained and the sheets on the other bed had someone else's hair all over them. Very unfortunate that I have to resort writing this. I was a loyal member of this hotel for 3 years staying once a month but have since found elsewhere to stay. Not long ago, I was planning a trip to see my son and his family when I had to cancel a few days before departing. I called the hotel to notify them and was told I was all set. I was then billed for the entire room and when calling to speak to someone, was given the run around. A month went by of me calling the hotel, emailing accounting and calling corporate all to be told "tough" It's not the money that upsets me but the lack of service shown for my loyalty. I pay for the service, not a bed and BW is only interested in providing a bed instead of customer service. My loyalty is worth more than that to me. Good luck BW but I advise you to listen to your guests because I hope the $150 you took from me is worth more than the $1800 you could have had this year alone. read more

So lucky to have found this Best Western ... We had to find room at last minute..daughter having a baby. The night desk manager, Abigail, could not have been nicer. So accommodating and helpful. The queen room is on the smaller side. However, perfectly renovated, clean with every amenity that a much more expensive hotel would have. Breakfast was included in the reasonable rate! We have stayed here three times in three years, and each experience has been positive. Plenty of parking, clean rooms, fridge, Wifi. Always very comfortable. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. It is a budget hotel, and for the price and the location, I find it a great value. The free breakfast is decent, and my daughter loves the waffle maker. They have coffee, juice, yogurt, bagels, english, toast, cold cereal, cheese omelets, sausage patties, fruit salad and apples. This is a great place to stay for NYC day trips. The hotel is five mins drive to the Fairfield Metro train station (which always has plenty of day parking). read more

My friends and I stayed here for a couple days 10/7-10/9, the night concierge Jean and the morning concierge (I can't remember her name but she had short curly hair) were awesome! Very good attitude and very willing to help! They made the experience better. Our room was a nice size, everything was very clean and housekeeping was very nice as well. The only issue we had was with the older woman that "maintains"'the breakfast food area. She never greeted us on either morning and she had a bad attitude, like she didn't want to be there. She complained every time something was spilled on the counter or on the floor that she had to clean up. I understand some people don't like their jobs, but everyone doesn't have to know that by your attitude. Other than having her attitude in the mornings, I really enjoyed my stay!! read more

Was told my friend could confirm via email which we were told when staying another time too a year ago, only to have another staff member (not wearing a name tag) tell me they'd never say that. I told her I should have video taped it. (This was after see had told me that another policy I repeated was not a policy. In other words she was calling me a liar. I'm stumped. Found the reservation my friend made wasn't booked. Asked them to book for two nights. They did. They booked for Monday and Wednesday night. Why? I'm clueless. So the no name tag girl, a heavy set women with long braids and fake eyelashes told me I had to check out of my room and couldn't go back in until my friend showed up a second time to sign me in with his credit card. Now if it was Wednesday night it wouldn't have been a problem I was told. So it's Tuesday and I'm sitting in front of a drafty door in the lobby for about 3 hours waiting to get into a room again. I have never in my life experienced this and don't know anyone who has. The woman behind the desk told me I had an attitude and she told me the things I said - that the staff would NEVER say those things. Like the email credit card confirmation. I have the Best Western's CEO David Kong's email and telephone number. But honestly the manager didn't care and other staff stayed hush. Will it change after my complaint? What is going on in here? It doesn't matter how other things are at the hotel, if they mess up 3 times on your reservation and now you're stuck in the lobby for 3+ hours in front of a cold draft in 21 degree weather and the staff yells at you because she wants you to shut up so she doesn't have to listen to your points, why would any of the Best Western experience change? It seems from the top down, it's an "I don't care" attitude. I'm going to contact CEO David Kong, but I have to say if my friend mentions coming here again, I'm going to need a massage afterwards because I'll be concerned that history at Best Western will repeat itself. And I dealt with a phone that doesn't work, a noisy radiator all night and a clogged toilet. But the reservation issues got me to give this review. Stayed there in April 2014. After check out I realized that I had left a North Face jacket and a pair of pants in the closet. I went back a couple of hours later to find out that the hotel housekeeping said they had no record of them. But since I checked house housekeeping had been the only people in the room. My was extremely disappointed in this hotel. The high speed internet was not only slow but didn't ever connect or work for me. The sink wouldn't drain and the bathroom door would not close properly. To make things worse I checked in for two nights with my dad. After the second night he decided to stay one more and fly out on Friday afternoon. We checked out and I revived the receipt for my bill. After checking my bank statement the charged me for the three nights and then I had another charge for another night. DO NOT STAY OR RESERVE HERE! THE WORST experience I have ever had with a hotel. I'd like to review the actual hotel, but after making a reservation and showing up at midnight to get off the road and sleep, the desk attendant proceeds to tell me that there is no reservation. I was glad to share the confirmation on my phone with them, but they insisted that there was no reservation and they were booked. I drove the 2.5 hours until about 3 am to get home very disappointed. I followed up a few days later and mysteriously they found the reservation, but continued to tell me that it was canceled. I asked who canceled it and they said it was my wife. That would be a great story, except for the fact that my wife had no idea where I had made a reservation. I try to place only more positive reviews as I have my own business, but this was totally unacceptable. Their corporate office was supposed to contact me, but never happened. Like most, we reserved a room here a while ago, due to the fact it's one of the only hotels in the area and they have a decent breakfast special. I would go as far to say it's overpriced considering the service and amenities actually offered. We should have read more reviews (smh). Our check-in was pleasant, but the issue was the following morning. At about five in the morning the fire alarms went off and the fire department showed up banging on doors, stating all hotel guests had to evacuate the hotel due to a kitchen fire. We obliged, but the issue was the hotel evacuation was very disorganized, we didn't smell any smoke, and the hotel staff was no where to be found. The other issue was the fire alarms continued blaring even after the fire department left! A complete debacle. By the time it was all over we had to pack up in order to check out. All of the hotel guests should have been compensated for the inconvenience with an extra nights stay or complimentary meals, but this didn't happen. No apology for the inconvenience - nothing! We never stayed here again and implore others do the same. read more

I called to make a reservation for Oct 4, 2014 . they gave me a AARP discount of 10% from $139.00 to $129 not quite 10% but that was ok. I never got a confirmation email about the room. I called to cancel on Oct 4 the women was nice and said your all set . I saw a charge for $149+ on my charge card. I called to find out what the cancellation policy was and I was told I didn't have a reservation for Oct 4. The women was really nice and keep searching and searching and finally asked me if my screen name was eo----@aol. I said no its ea---@aol so finally we know why I never got a email conformation. Then she tells me I was a no show. I explained I called Oct 4 around 12:15 , she couldn't find the cancellation. Summary no reservation ,no confornation, and then a no show. The women was nice and said Minnie the manager was away until Sunday Oct 16 and I could contact her between 12:00 noon and 8:00 PM. I get am email from Minnie on Sat Oct 16 while she in supposed to be away on business and she tells me she remembered my call and the reservation and tells me she remembers telling me the cancellation policy. I emailed her back and asked for an itemized bill . I did state they don't even have a cancellation policy on their web site. I never did get an itemized bill. I've stayed at the Marriott in Trumbull before and it was clean and the staff was great so the next few trips to Ct I'll be staying in Trumbull since they have a same day cancellation policy. read more
