After groggily descending the stairs, wandering into the dining room all full of sunlight and breeze, and meeting a table full of strangers, you might get a greeting like this: "So I guess you're all wondering why I gathered us here today. It's about Uncle Charlie's will." This was delivered by a fellow guest who happened to be seated at the head of the table.... Anyway, as soon as you get seated they'll start whipping up some tucker for ya. We had crepes one morning and French toast the next; both were great. With our last stay (my weekend birthday gift to my husband) started out with seeing water stains above the staircase and the ever present smell of cat urine which apparently came from the many (eight we were told) cats that roam around. The room was very comfortable and romantic as always but chilly as the doors leading out to the balcony are old and in need of updating with newer weatherproof ones. The toilet dripping constantly was annoying but nothing to complain about but the breakfast area was cold and crammed with the door being left open so that the cats could come and go and stepping in their poop on the floor wasn't the start of how breakfast that was always our shining start of the day should be. Our most recent visit was so memorable that I had to write a review and tell my fellow yelpers about this little gem. The Beaver Dam Creek House is not your typical snooty tooty bed and breakfast. Upon entering the door you are greeted by Summer, the friendly Golden Retreiver and official welcoming committee. She happily wags her tail and is thrilled to have new guests come and stay at the house. Jeanne, the owner is very friendly, mellow and full of great information about nearby restaurants, the best shopping, and where to go for great bargains. The home is tastefully beach themed and filled with all sorts of antique touches. Each room is unique and has a different feel. There are beautiful mirrors, refurbished and antique furniture, seashells, old wood paneling, gorgeous wall paper and crown molding. The home is also filled with all of the modern necessities like TV, cable, internet, dvd's, books, boardgames, magazines, and a jacuzzi. Everything is very clean and you get fresh sheets and towels on a regular basis. Our family has quite a few food allergies and Jeanne was extremely understanding and accommodating; Each morning we awoke to asparagus quiche, scrambled eggs, sausage, hot coffee with dairy and non-dairy creamer, orange juice, bagels with cream cheese and fresh fruit. She also kept fresh fruits, vegetables, pita chips and hummus for us, knowing that we were California health nuts. I've stayed at bed and breakfasts before but I've never experienced the kindness, hospitality and sense of "home" that Jeanne creates at Beaver Dam Creek House. Our family absolutely loved our stay and we plan to go back every other year to celebrate Thanksgiving at our favorite spot. It's perfect for laid back families like ours who enjoy the freedom of a less structured bed and breakfast with a home away from home feel.

The grounds and luscious garden are beautifully kept. Make sure to take a walk around the mature garden that showcases the assortment of greens and colorful flowers. When we checked in showed the receptionist the service animal card and everything was fine. Around 4am my fiance and I had went to smoke a cigarette in the truck. When I walked out of the room I saw the woman staring at us in the window I had a feeling that something was gonna happen and for sure she just takes it upon herself to go in our room. Which my dog was still there and scared her. After that she was trying to get us to leave with only 50 dollars saying we never notified anyone about the dog. Or pay an extra 50 dollars for dog. She also tried to trick me to leave room so she can deactivate key card but luckily because the air conditioner was not working i left window open and was able to get in. Rm 102.We called the police and they agreed she either needs to give us full refund or let us finish out stay. She was not happy about it because she thought she was right. But I had all legal documentation for my dog. All in all you have no right to go in someones room or deny anyone for service animal unless they are be destructive or disturbing someone. She is crazy and stay away to avoid any drama if you want to have a nice night with your man or woman. She really had nothing better to do than to mess with us. Even saying I was not military becasue my cat card was expired but I had my va vard right next to it which she wouldnt even look at just kept saying I was not military.
