RUN! Tiny, Dirty, Bites. Prison meets Best Western. Run down! Small, Dirty, Bugs, Bites, leaking, holes, Broken Down. May 2024 we planned to stay the weekend with our baseball team, we booked Friday and Saturday, ended up arriving at around 3:30AM Saturday morning. We were dead tired, walked in the room and noticed how TINY the space was. Felt like a scared straight jail cell tour. With not many options we figured oh well it's late we are tired let's knock out. We woke up early the next morning to play our games, we were one of 2 families who had a Friday check in and our family plus the other family noticed we were both complaining of itchiness and bites (didn't think anything of it at the time). We played we ate and we all made it back to the hotel as a team at around 8:30pm finally. This was our first time really paying attention to the room condition in detail. We pulled back the covers to notice a spider crawling in the bed, the restroom was so tight in space that they had to carve out a chuck of the door just so the door would be able to close AROUND the toilet (not making this up). Fixtures such as the shower spout and door handle was coming off separated from the wall. Noticed there was what we assume to be pee all over the wall left by previous guests. Other teammates families had similar issues and they let the front desk person know what they experienced and the front desk person said "if yall don't like it yall can leave". No apology no nothing! She complained about everyone letting her know about these conditions in front of other guests that were coming in and some that were checking in. She said lobby is closed go to your room or leave, all families promptly checked out of the hotel and moved to another hotel right after this. On top of this as we were packing to leave my kids hair was wet so we turned on the blow dryer to dry it and the blow dryer was heavily smoking and about to catch on fire!!!! As we were heading out I stopped in the common area restroom only to find it leaking from the ceiling and the ground flooded!! Pics and video of all of this will be attached. Horrible stay horrible customer service. We stay as MAAAANY hotels as a travel baseball team all around Texas, frequently in Houston and also around other states. This is the absolute worst experience in all our years. How this hotel is tied to any major brand is beyond me. If i had paid $50-60 a night i would be think "ok you get what you pay for" but even those places wouldn't be THIS BAD! Our rate was $120+ a night which is on par with way nicer hotels we have stayed at specifically in the NASA Webster area but hey were all booked for tema blocks so we didn't have many choices when booking ahead. The pricing might be tempting, but not worth the savings. Stay at any of the other hotels in area. My son coined a phrase- "Worst Western." He's just 10, but was pointing out all the problems with the room. Brown stains on sheets. Woodwork on bathroom door rotted at bottom. Door to room had to be kicked to get it open. Checking the other reviews on Yelp, ice machines have been broken for AT LEAST 2 months. No shade around outdoor pool, it's in the blazing sun and looked like algae growing on the surfaces. Electrical outlets all too loose to hold a plug for USB chargers. On the plus side, breakfast was ok. Dirty diaper laid in parking lot all weekend just two parking spots away from front door to lobby. read more

Only giving 2 stars cause the front desk guy is helpful. That being said, DO NOT stay here. Toilet was immediately backed up and took forever to flush, ALL ice machines were broken, someone was complaining about their AC being out, and the restroom is so small. Looks nothing like the pictures. Needless to say we're cancelling our next night reservation trust me when I say it's well worth paying an extra 30-$40 to go across the street at another hotel. read more

Hotel is not kept clean, there were trash bags piled at the entrance door. Pool is dirty, even though it was over 90 degrees the three days we stayed there, we refused to get in that pool! All our towels were dingy and had yellow spots. We decided to overlook these things because we were not really in the hotel and pretty much just slept there because we were out sight seeing and visiting places like the water park, NASA museum and caverns. But our AirPods got stolen by housekeeping! This was the straw that broke the camel's back! We reported it to the manager, who then called the "housekeeping manager", who did nothing about it but tell us the person who cleaned our room was not there. We used find my AirPods and traced them back to a trash can about 2 blocks from the hotel. Unfortunately the trash can was full and too big to dig for them. My thought is that once we started looking, the housekeeper who stole them realized we could track them and went and dumped them in the trash!!!! read more

Why bother reviewing a Best Western outside of Houston? Because our room had the world's smallest bathroom outside of a Pygmy colony in the Congolese jungle. The door actually scraped the toilet bowl, and the shower curtain had to be bowed in order to allow a girthy guy to scrub his incidentals. Otherwise, this is a pretty standard chain motel with a pool and a waffle maker. The only reason anyone would stay here is to get quickly to the Johnson Space Center (they offer 2-for-1 discount tickets) and maybe, just maybe, get a head start on the armadillo eggs at T-Bone Tom's Steakhouse about twenty minutes away in Kemah. Otherwise you're probably on the lam with $40,000 in a suitcase, and Norman Bates surprises you in the shower in a lovely print dress and well,... At least the price is right - about $63 per night. Had a reservation for roll in shower room. Got to the hotel after traveling 10 hours and they apologized that my room had not been made up that day and it was not available. They offered and upgraded room to a handicap suite. Issued keys and we unloaded and went to the room only to have the keys not work. Had to settle for non handicap suite. The room was big and bed comfortable is about all I can say about that. We left for the day and came back late and our room had not been refreshed. Next morning had to ask for fresh towels. The breakfast was cheap and unappetizing. WiFi difficult to engage. Will not stay again and will notify AAA so they can remove their recommendation. read more

We stayed here one night for a weekend in Houston and Kemha. The rooms are so so so tiny. The bathroom door barely closed because the toilet is right at the door. The rooms are very old and worn and need updating. The carpet is very dirty and looks like it hasnt been cleaned in YEARS to the point its stained and matted. They do not have the basic amenities as advertised. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the staff has been very nice. My uncle booked family rooms there for out of towners coming in for a funeral. He booked us for two nights but we only stayed one. The cleanliness of this hotel was very disappointing. As soon as we entered the building we saw a dead water bug and there was an old, foul smell. The bathroom was dirty and small. The AC unit is uncomfortable loud, and we were itching laying on the beds. I couldn't sleep, I sat up the entire night. We got in around 1am from DFW, so we we're tired hence the reason we stayed but as soon as daybreak, I booked us another hotel. Don't ever, ever stay here. read more

This is a clean comfortable hotel and very good for the budget class of hotels. Free WiFi that managed to remain hot during my whole 18 hours here. Fridge and microwave in room, plus a work desk. Bathroom is a little tight but this isn't the Ritz Carlton so I don't have any complaints. Breakfast is fine. Certainly as good as the fast food joints -- and it's included with the room, which just adds to the value of this place. This hotel is under new management and was recently renovated. I enjoyed my stay here while my husband and I were looking for a place to live after relocating from NYC. Free breakfast is always a huge plus for us as it saves time and money in the morning. The people that work here were always very pleasant and gave us discounts to explore the attractions such as nasa space center. The mall is a 5 minute drive from here as well! We understand that COVID is going on. We were there for a funeral. So this was not a luxury event. The amenities advertised on Booking.com was not available. It is an old facility that needs some updating. We can tell you that the room was clean and the beds were reasonably comfortable. But there was no breakfast kit and the WiFi was menial. Even the drink vending machines had only one bottle of water for the Four days we were there. However the staff did make efforts to appease their lack. I am not planning on going back to Houston for a while. But I do know that this is not where I will be the next time. I am in the neighborhood. read more

I typically have great experiences at these hotels because I've stayed in it before but being pregnant and being in a room with a non-working AC is terrible. The worst part was when we went to spoke with the person at the front desk they said "yes we have been having problems with that room". So why book someone in a room where you know you have been having issues?!? We checked in at 3pm and left to run around town hoping the room would cool down and the staff told us they would call us to see if they had any other rooms open to switch us rooms. It wasn't until 3am that they put us into another room. ***We would've gone somewhere else but they wouldn't give us a refund or partial refund because they couldn't get a hold of the owners to get an ok and the teenage manager said she had no authority. The next morning when we went to check out, they promised to give us a discount for our room(which was fine since we did end up in a betterish room), but coincidentally forgot and never did. I was yelled at in front of my children and told to leave. Hotel room was dirty. They limit amount of towels you are allowed to have. Food was undercooked at breakfast. My children were refused towels after swimming in pool. The staff was so rude. This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Absolutely a great place to stay very clean and up to date rooms, direct tv, flatscreen, free wifi, fitness center 24hr, laundry room 24hr ($2 to wash $1.50 to dry) free breakfast till 9am, pool, drinks and snacks available for purchase in lobby, hairdryer, shower and tub, microwave, dresser and closet, and so much more! Best of all is the cleaning ladies do an excellent job and the manager over the cleaning ladies comes by after they are done to double check and make sure the job has been done right and to your satisfaction! The front desk is very friendly and helpful at all hours. My family does a lot of traveling and stays for extended periods in hotels as well as short periods and we also stay at all kinds of hotels from bottom dollar to high side in price and this Best Western NASA is one of the best we've stayed at out of all hotel chains brand. Great place for the price and good breakfast bar in the morning. Close to many restaurants and has a really good Mexican Restaurant on the property. Good food and a great happy hour!! The hotel has a good gym, pool and snack machines! The coffee is always good and the expresso machine is the best! The beds were just the way I like them and the toiletries were sufficient. DO NOT STAY HERE! Worst place ever! If you don't like it when you open the door to the bathroom & it almost hits the toilet then this isn't the place for you. Upon checking in the manager said the hotel didn't have any cribs, which we requested three months ago with our reservation. At the end of the week a crib appeared in a hallway. Also, if you don't like manager just walking in unannounced to your room or ants in your room stay anywhere else nearby. We saw & heard firsthand that the manager walked in to people's rooms unannounced & was like "oh sorry housekeeping" she did that in every room. I guess she doesn't trust her staff to do their jobs. Housekeeping had their kids following them as they cleaned the rooms etc. There was an unused room that was a catch all upstairs. It seems the children of the staff hung out there for the day when not shadowing their parents. The manager also kept adjusting our thermostat in our room everyday. We had to keep readjusting it to get it comfortable in the room everyday. There was someone's garbage on our floor in our room showing that no one vacuumed. The beds are awful to say the least! Sleeping on concrete would be the same as their beds. Three weeks later my back is still killing me! The other manager who didn't wear a name tag, probably due to complaints, was often combative. We booked our room three months in advance & the manager tried to put us in a different room. We showed our confirmation & printed copy of exactly what we were suppose to have. He kept complaining about his booking problem which was not MY problem. The manager was trying to make extra money by saving our room for someone else. The printer was also not available to use because as the manager stated "he received the wrong one" seriously? They just didn't hook it up. He said they'd have one next week which doesn't help me now.The refrigerator was turned off in our room after the first day & our food spoiled. There were reviews stating that there are NASA themed rooms which isn't true. It's an old hotel with a poor makeover. All of the other hotels nearby we should've stay in like we always do. For example LaQuinta, Hampton Inn, & Holiday Inn Express to name a few where we've always had a pleasant stay. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for!" This hotel was mediocre, the lobby looked (and was) recently renovated but the hallway and rooms told of the hotels age. For the money though, if you are just looking for a spot to lay your head at night it wasn't all bad...the location is great, a lot of nice restaurants in walking distance and movie theaters/NASA down the road. Also the complimentary breakfast had both hot and cold selections to pick from, there was a very musty smell in the first room I was given but as soon as I shared that with the front desk they accommodated me with a new room. It wasn't a bad place, but it wasn't what I imagined either. Room is small but accommodating but if you get double beds, they will fit a couple but not too much room to roll around on. Idk if I'd go back. The best thing about this hotel was the shower...HOT water and strong water pressure. read more

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life. From the beginning calling to confirm my reservations I was on hold over 30 minutes. They have so much furniture in the room you cant move around. Smells old and stale in the hallway. The playoff game is on and the TV only gets CNN. They cant make the remote work. Didn't plan to spend my night watching the legacy of President Obama. But he is an awesome President so that make it ok. The bathtub looks like a large bassinet. Should be able to get a free night. King Room smelt funny. Room was clean. Small bathroom. This place is not a dive. Everything works. Including the ice maker on this floor. The desk clerk was Really Really good. The bed had many pillows and a long blue cylinder shaped pillow that was nice to read with. There are many many lamps. A LOT of lighting. Theres a Lupe Tortilla 50 feet behind this Best Western with a fire pit outside. ( Fajitas) I would give this four stars but the walls are a too thin for me, which detracts from a sense of privacy. The wake up call works. The breakfast has everything. Espresso coffee apple juice orange juice waffles syrup nuts walnuts oreo topping bread bagels sugary bread roll things yogurt machine with four different toppings to choose from four cereals, frosted flakes fruit loops I remember, eggs sausage biscuits and gravy. microwave toaster forks napkins. Stayed here for a few nights while in town for a wedding. I only gave 3 stars because in my opinion, only super fancy hotels should get 5! This is an affordable, no frills hotel. Rooms are simple, the TV remotes are tricky. We weren't thrilled about the continental breakfast, one day it was pretty good and the next day it was completely different. Front desk staff was nice, but the highlight of our stay was James, who drove the shuttle, and took us to and from the wedding. He was friendly, fun to chat with, got us there on time and was waiting for us to head back to the hotel when we were ready to leave. He rocks! read more

Very basic, no frills hotel. If you and your family come in late at night and expect nothing but a horizontal surface to sleep on, you will be highly satisfied with this hotel. I agree with the sentiments in previous reviews. This is an old hotel with a very cheap, halfa$$ "renovation". Advertised features are unavailable or disappointing. Approximately half of the vending machines, while they looked new, weren't stocked. Our decorative pillows felt musty and damp, as did the carpet in the room. The room was very small, possibly the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Very little walking room (playing room for the kids). I was expecting a large tub to bathe my son in, no such luck. Bathroom (toilet and tub) were poorly lit. Vanity area was only slightly better, but with practically no counter space. Now for the specifics: First problem - Fitness center was inaccessible. Normally you swipe your key card and are granted access. Not here. Light on the door turned red instead of green and the door handle wouldn't budge. Mildly inconvenient. Second problem arose when I went to ask the front desk "WTF" in regards to the fitness center. Front desk was unmanned. A gentleman sitting in the lobby said he had been sitting here for more than 10 minutes waiting to be checked in. Man was on hold with the Best Western the whole time I stood waiting for someone. Never saw the front desk clerk. The third problem was something I guess we should have expected. At night it wasn't such an issue but in the morning (beginning around 7am) you could hear everyone on your hall opening and closing the doors to their rooms. I've never experienced this at any other hotel. The fourth and final problem at our stay was the roach we found at breakfast. I won't tell you a horror story about finding a roach in our food. We didn't have that issue. However, we did see a small dead roach in the fruit bowl. I believe it was next to an orange. I understand there's no way it could have contaminated the orange (with the peel still on), but it was still disgusting to see it in such close proximity to the exposed food. PROS: A/C kept the room very cold The TV was an acceptable size and my son was able to watch Spongebob Squarepants Breakfast had many options, everyone found something they were excited about eating Water pressure/temperature was great read more

Absolutely horrible customer service from the incompetent manager Monica. My military daughter stayed 2 nights due to full barracks I called to have the charges put on my card. Well the not so smart manager charged my card and my daughters for 3 nights however she stayed only 2. I've called multiple times problem still not resolved so called corporate she did not offer anything for all the mistakes she created just I'm sorry.
