Although I'd seen Beth for myofascial release-work last year and always had a good experience, I'm kinda blown away that I can see her now, during Shelter-in-Place VIRTUALLY. In March on a socially-distanced nature walk I slipped in mud and fell. When Beth eventually emailed her list that she was offering myofascial release-work over Zoom, I signed up, curious. It worked. Beth Baron is a wonderful health practitioner. I first saw her about 10 years ago when I was suffering from a tennis elbow type of condition. I am a carpenter and couldn't even swing my hammer. She worked with me diligently mostly using Myofascial massage. She is kind,studious,and a good listener and detective in pinpointing pain and it's origin. She showed me stretches and exercises I could do on my own as well as helping me find other positions and ways of handling my tools because I couldn't afford to miss work. Beth was a life saver! I had a wrist injury that just wouldn't go away and no matter what I tried, I could not find relief. In my quest to recover from RSI (repetitive stress injury) I have seen a half-dozen massage therapists in the last year or so. Beth is by far the best. She truly attains excellence. As Beth works, the sensation borders on the magical: as she manipulates the fascia, she is able to work on the muscle in such a deep yet gentle way, with dramatic change. I leave each session feeling weightless, open, and free. More significantly, this feeling only increases in the following several days. If you have any sort of soft-tissue injury, RSI, or any pain at all, the best thing you can do is schedule a session with Beth. Beth knows about RSI -- she recovered from a serious RSI herself (and obviously a complete recovery, to work with her hands all day). I am now completely recovered: I can work at the computer all day without a hint of pain and I have returned to mountain biking. I love, LOVE Beth! I have chronic upper body RSI (hands, lower and upper arms), Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, hold all of my tension in my neck and shoulders and spend way more time on the computer than I should. Beth uses a variety of special techniques - ART, myofacial release, and other fancy names I don't know. What I do know is that her techniques are intense, AND make my hand and arm pain go away and dissolve the tension in my neck and shoulders. These are therapeutic treatments, not just feel-good treatments. I see her every 3 weeks for 90 minutes, and it is an excellent way to manage my pain. I was recently re-evaluated for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome status (I had a nerve conduction test done), and both hands improved dramatically. My left hand went fro severe to moderate and right hand went from moderate to mild nerve entrapment. I attribute this to Beth's regular work on my upper body. I came to Berkeley for a short visit and on the advice of a friend, I scheduled two sessions with Beth. It's rare to find someone whose skills so perfectly matched what I needed. I've done some somatic experience work with another practitioner and have had a few massages, but Beth connects the two in a way that is unique and deeply therapeutic.
