My mom was supposed to be transferred at 3pm today, following a surgery she had. I politely asked the ugly, blonde, horse faced secretary at 3:45 pm if they had an idea of what time they would be there to transfer her. She didn't even look in my direction and yelled ," I'm not making any phone calls to see when people are being picked up until an hour after they are late!" I just as loudly told her she was rude! All the other incompetent nurses were talking about me knowing my mom's room was DIRECTLY across from where the nurse station was, assuring I could hear it. I ended up leaving at 5 pm after being told they'd be there ,"around 4:30" now. As I left the other brown haired ugly nurse was staring at me as I got on the elevator to leave with a grin and I told her," I'm not mad at you but your friend sucks! She started talking shit as soon as the doors closed. I've had MANY bad experiences at this shithole! My father even died here on November 4th 2023. If you love someone, NEVER bring them here! I had my blood pressure raised to 186-89 with palpitations and dizziness when I was home alone. I felt like I was going to pass out and then I called an ambulance to be seen at an emergency department. The nurse there did not record or listen to the patient's condition but insisted on doing the random blood test and X-ray. The rude nurses did not care about the patient or read the monitor panel. She refused to answer any questions and gave the wrong prescription medicine instructions. She was very angry and upset when I asked for help to get a ride home. She was not very busy but her attitude was very rough and upset. read more

This hospital and staff are a joke. 83 year old resident of mine had a fall. They brought her by ambulance to be sat in a chair in the waiting room with the rest of the people that walk into the er. Never in my life of being a CNA have a seen a fall treated this way. I do not recommend coming here or bringing your elders. read more

Honestly, I wish I would've read the reviews before I went there today. I went in for asthma and they did not take my situation seriously, I was very patient with staff until discharge me without information except for a prescription for prednisone. My asthma is still not treated, so I am heading to a different hospital now for care. Staff was pretty kind, though I believe that they're just overworked and overstimulated there. read more

I am writing in regard to my husband's care by Dr. Mandeep Sawhney. My husband had a biopsy by this doctor on his pancreas. After finding a lesion on my husbands pancreas and deciding that it was concerous, this doctor ordered another biopsey because he wanted a name for this lesion. Dr. Sawhney did another biopsy, which gave my husband Sepsis which sent his liver into liver failure. This infection made it impossible for my husband to have any treatment or surgury. This second biosy, one that was uneeded, left my husband to slowly die over the next 11 months. I feel that he is responsible for preventable adverse effect of care. i have since heard through my research that my husband was not the only patient to experice awful care, and will not be the last. read more

It's a mixed bag here. I would generally say the service is either fine, or good -it's significantly better than the Boston BI. You will generally get served somewhat quickly, usually without a long wait. If you show up early, it can actually speed up the service. So, if you are busy and just want to leave ASAP it's on the quicker end of service. I wouldn't say it was fast tho'. It's just more timely, and the pace has less waiting, boredom , and time wasting. I wouldn't say anyone working there was rude or impolite. They check all the boxes as far as being polite to your face, speaking all of the expected choice phrases in order to not be considered rude. But, it feels very mechanical, coached, plastic, fake, hallow, superficial, and empty. They're not rude per se, and they do and say all of the "correct" or "PC" things, so you can't accuse them of doing a bad job. But, so much of it lacks warmth, bedside manner, and you don't actually feel cared about. It just isn't there. You can see the smiles, and hear the "customer service" tone of voice. But, it feels more like a drive through service at Jiffy Lube, and you are the car. You don't feel like a human person, but a thing that needs a checklist of things to be performed and spoken to you, then get out, but "Have a nice day". I wouldn't say any of the personnel working there were bad or negligent people. But, they definitely DO NOT have any wish to connect with ANYONE on an actual personal level. They only want it to seem this way on the surface. I noticed that if they were speaking in a manner that was meant to simulate trust building or relationship relatability, if you actually became candid and treated them as a person, and not submissive to dominant power dynamic of professional above the patient, they would often change the subject, give you a very extra big smile, and try to leave and send you on your way immediately, rather than actually forming a bond of personable trust. If you are having surgery, like I did here, remember to address your fears if u have a special circumstance like if most people have a pair of 2 organs but you only have 1, and they removing giant growths from it, but they've already told you that if it bleeds, they must remove it. Because they can totally forget. In my case I could've become castrated if they removed my ovary, because I only had 1 left. Then I would've been thrust into menopause and my life would've shortened abruptly and thrust into rapid aging. This was very concerning to me. I was having anxiety over this for months. I also had other complications due to this issue, and the causes were unknown until after the surgery. Everything was a success. I'm fine now. But, it bothers me a lot that they felt very cold about this. I felt like just another machine on the assembly line, and not a person. The personal discussions I had with the professionals felt more like a puppet show of telling me things I was supposed to hear, to dupe me to believe everything was fine at the push of a button, or just speak some specific words and everything was good,, then send me on my way like a drive through. But, since my circumstances were unique and complex, it shattered the customer service illusion that they cared, and it wasn't real trust or care. It was people going through the hum drum daily life of a career, and the semblance of a number of things on a resumé. It's bothered me a number of times. And I assumed I was just picky, or overly sensitive, or worried I did something wrong. But, after having spoken with a recent recent professional that spoke too me as a person on the phone, actually cared about me, didn't rush me to hang up or leave, and didn't speak to me with cookie-cutter phrases from a scripted coached list of things to say, or boxes to check off, I realized that the person I was talking to was a real person whom actually cared about the entire process, the care, the person. And they didn't just put all the burden on me, or pass the buck while "have a nice day"-ing me. So, I felt it validated my feelings of how I felt about this place. It has just been a long time since I'd experienced people being authentic, natural, and caring. I can FEEL what people feel. It's called empathy, and it's something the brain does. But when People are saying all the right things on a checklist customer service style and fakely smiling at me, it puts me off. Because I can't FEEL anything.... but I CAN feel the: Oh no! She's trying to get to know me, bond with me, and relate! Get out! Send her on her way! Smile and nod, and get out! It's not me being overly sensitive or picky, it's that my sensitivity of my empathy in my brain is functioning fine, and I'm actually picking up the mixed messages. Hence my mixed feelings. I've arrived in the emergency room in Milton, Ma at 3:10 PM it now 7:20 PM and my nephew still has NOT been seen. Patients that came in after us with foot injuries that came in walking (definitely not broken) was seen before us as well as many other patients. My nephew has low iron and having trouble trying to stay awake,bad headache and cold ( may need a blood transfusion again) Will NEVER COME BACK HERE!! They suck!!! read more

i was put into a room where there was somebody else's used BLOODY tissues, water cup and the floor was physically and visibly FILTHY. i then found out my ankle was sprained when the doctor said the nurse was coming with ibuprofen. NOBODY EVER BROUGHT MY MEDICINE, where then the Dr. comes in and says the nurses will bring me crutches and to NOT WALK ON IT. i waited for 3 hours to receive my discharge papers and crutches. the nurse never came, so i asked the front desk lady for crutches because i had to use the bathroom, where she looked at me and said "well you just walked from your room to me, so go use the bathroom" so i limped all the way to the bathroom where it was COVERED IN URINE, where i then SLIPPED IN SOMEBODY ELSES URINE. read more

I originally posted this under "Milton Hospital" but am now cross-posting this same review under the hospital's correct name. I just had massive swelling on my neck - an obvious active and progressing infection...and the infection made my body feel like I had a bad flu, and also had pain across whole gumline on lower teeth. Milton Hospital is my go-to for ER. Drove myself in, parking right by door. Brought right in, only person in waiting room, triaged right away, tested for covid, put in a bed, given meds right away to quell the pain and made very comfortable. I was afraid and worried, but my nurse was so kind sweet and attentive that I was able to relax, put my headphones on and watched tv on my phone while CT scan with contrast was arranged. I was told I was going to be admitted, but eventually found out that prior jaw surgery complete with bone graft made it necessary to transfer me via ambulance to Beth Israel Boston where Maxillofacial Surgeons from B.U. would treat me. Logistically I was slightly irked that I hadnt been told I was going into boston as I had only prepared to be away from home for 2 days, 3 max, but no stars off for that because it was the right thing to do, just could have been told sooner is all. Tx to ambulance team was exemplary. I had to leave my car 4+ days (through 2 snowstorms) and there was no problem with that. Besides the obvious progressing infection, my main stress was to get pain control, and secondary stress was going into an ER in "covid" pandemic... Milton Hospital ER gets an A++ on all of that. My treatment was of the highest standards, and the covid precautions made the visit a 0 stress from that perspective from the moment i entered the emergency room. What a gem to have this level of care in my community!! read more

I called today to speak with the President Richard Fernandez at BID Milton but got Amanda's voice mail. Not sure what Amanda's role is at BID Hospital Milton. But got voice mail. the reason I called was to find out the process for submitting a grievance to the President. But very soon after leaving a message for Amanda I received a letter via US mail from Maureen Burns-Johnson, Director of Patience Experience, that was in response to a grievance I had NOT YET submitted. So Maureen Burns-Johnson wrote a letter, responding to a grievance I had not yet filed. Is she clairvoyant? Not only did she respond to a grievance I had not filed. She outlined in her letter that the care I received was excellent. I am confused what is it that she investigated. She had not read my very painstakingly detailed grievance, had not discussed with the the grievance I have not yet submitted and was not there in the ER holding my hand during my stay in Milton ER. Am I truly in twilight zone. I have four pages of details of how horrible my care was. But since she and never talked about the details in my grievance, how or what did she investigate? this is wild. Her title is Director of Patient Experience but actually she the one who makes sure everything is swept under the rug as if it never happens. so even though her name is mentioned MANY times in the posts on Facebook for BID Milton as the go to person for solving issues, she isn't. I plan on submitting my grievance to unbiased agencies, Attorney General, Elder Abuse and so on. I think she should be explaining her actions to professionals who will see right through her. Really, ask yourself how someone could investigate a grievance that was never filed? Amazing? read more

I know an emergency room can be busy, very, but I've been waiting for over three hours. Mind you the waiting room looks like it can hold about twenty people. I have witnessed people come in at least two hours after me and be serviced. This all happened on a Sunday. So, I could assume there isn't that much staff working Sunday. That's just an assumption. I must not forget initially I was checked by a nurse. I arrived at 4:55 pm it now 8:16 pm. I see why some people may not like coming to the emergency room. Awful experience, was supposed to be checked up on drs in er every 24 hours, only saw a dr once, had incorrect dosing record in the chart (said only one dose was given when in face it was several), patient was given medication that was discontinued due to negative side effects, refused to let family visit with patient, made mistakes on other rules admitted they made an error but uses family as a scapegoat. Do not come here if you want good care, some of the nurses are good but overall experince lackluster and disappointing. Wish we never came here. read more

My son was seen in the ER unit.He was in extreme pain and was told by the nurse "stop being a baby" Their response time is extremely slow to the patient. He had already been there an hour when i got there,after i was there for an hour i questioned the nurse as to why no I.V. had been started and why he had not been given something for the pain. Response " He has to see doctor first he will be here in a minute" response accepted. Another hour goes by i go to front desk as the nurses and doctors are joking around and ask where my son is on the list of being seen and told "oh i cant tell you that it depends" Another hour FINALLY the doctor comes in and tells my son "sit still your being a little over dramatic dont you think?" Now when im in pain i roll and move. Turned out to be a kidney stone (which i heard can be very painful). I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL read more

literally the worst hospital experience i've ever had to experience. if i could give 0 stars i would. i went to the ER and there were so many rude nurses except one, Tina. I felt ignored the whole time i was there. I was there at 11 pm and it's now 7:30 am and not i'm discharged yet. When I would go to South shore i never had to wait as long. there was one doctor working for 29 patients.... they need to be more organized. I am a quadriplegic and they left me on a stretcher in the ED without turning me for so long that I developed a bedsore on my coccyx. They also tore some skin off of my fresh wound while transferring me to the CT machine. I was given antibiotics and nobody bothered to take urine or blood cultures. As a result we were never able to identify the source of infection that was making me ill. I will never go back and I'd advise anyone not to go there! read more

This review pertains to the Emergency Room at Milton Hospital. I've been to Milton to the ER twice. Once about 5 years ago and again last month. Both times, it was clean, the support staff and medical staff were good, and I was seen quickly. The doctors explained things to me, and the for the most part, the nursing staff were excellent. Compared to an ER visit I had at a big teaching hospital in Boston (by ambulance) a few years ago, Milton was amazing. My only complaint came from my most recent visit at the Milton ER. I ended up there through change of shift (past 7:00 PM) because the doctor was waiting for some labs, and the nurse who took over was not great. I'm not sure if it's because she knew I was being discharged or what, but she definitely delivered care that was a few steps down from the care I had received earlier that evening. I'd have given them 4 stars if not for her. read more

I had a great tech named Bill who was really friendly, informative, and helpful. The tv had many channels as well, more than I had at home! The full size bed was pretty comfy. Absolutely Awful for scheduled appointments. If you have anything else to do in the day, make sure you cancel it. My fiance and I have only been living in the area for about a year, and we've both been looking for primary care providers that are closer by. My fiance found one in Quincy who had sent him to a few different specialists that were all located at Milton Hospital. Every single time we have gone for one of his schedules appointments (I mean EVERY time), they are incredibly "behind schedule" and we wait 30-50 minutes past the time of his appointments before he is actually seen. I kept chalking it up to accident or a busy day, but this happens literally every time we go. Most recently, waiting close to an hour past the scheduled appointment time to see a urologist, and today spending 35 minutes past the scheduled appointment time waiting for an ears, nose and throat specialist. If you know you're going to be busy or you are incredibly unorganized, please give the doctors longer times between patients so that people aren't constantly waiting ridiculously long in your waiting room. My fiance is very lucky that he's able to take the day off of work when he goes to the doctor, but may others aren't so lucky. Every extra minute (never mind 50 minutes) in the waiting room is a waste of time that could be better spent elsewhere. The only reason why I gave them 2 stars is because the doctors have been relatively decent once we're finally able to see them. My advice is just show up 30 minutes late to all your appointments and you should be right on their schedule. read more

This is a horrible hospital. If you happen to be an elderly person, they often leave you for hours without treatment or monitoring. The perception we now have is that if you are elderly you are a non person and should not be bothered with. My mom has been at Milton for a few days and no one comes if she presses the call button if she needs to go to the bathroom. It's a horrible place! Do not come here and especially do not take an elderly loved one to Milton hospital. Doctors do not seem to communicate well with each other on details of care across shifts ( 3 different doctors, 3 different communications). Nor do they communicate clearly to patient or family. I had to chase down the doctor to find out what the status was. Only doctor Sahar was kind, helpful, communicative, and gave my mom wonderful care and attention. During the night and 3 times while I was there today the nice lady in the next bed from my mom kept trying to get up to look for her cats! The nurses paid no attention. I had to go get the nurses and tell them so she would not fall! My poor mom could not sleep and was upset by the nurses lack of attention and the woman's ranting. This is not any kind of place for consistent quality care. It's too bad because there are many elderly in the area and especially at wonderful fuller village that needs a great hospital nearby. read more

He isn't doing a great job of hiding. This is a very stressful time for my family and this is not helping our situation. If there was a negative star rating, this hospital would receive a negative 5. I brought my 94 year old mother there as directed by her Primary Care doctor in order to be admitted. After checking in with the surly front desk nurse, we proceeded to sit and wait. My mother's vitals were taken and then she went back to waiting. She had a few tests done and then was sent back to the waiting room, which had a subzero temperature, not a great condition for elderly patients. After three hours, they wanted to take her vitals again. My brother asked the nurse if this was routine in order to be admitted. The nurse, Emily, had a meltdown on him and told him her primary wanted was of no importance to her. I tried to say that we were just anxious from sitting with a 94 year old, in pain, for so long and she had another meltdown on me. We waited another hour, after several patients left before being seen, then left as well. The only ray of light was the phlebotomist and the x-ray technician. If you are unable to take the stress of your profession, you should probably seek one where you don't deal with patients and their families. read more

My dog spooked when a skateboarder came up the dark street behind us, and his leash took both feet out from under me landing me on the ground with one foot at an unnatural angle. Long story short, I ended up unable to walk at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton's emergency room. My partner couldn't find a wheelchair, so he brought out a walker and I hopped in while he parked. When an attendant saw me hopping, he immediately asked if I needed a wheelchair and went in search of one on another floor. Despite COVID, my partner was allowed to accompany me and the wait was way shorter than the typical ER. Kylie (nurse), Amy (PA), and Dr. Cary were all attentive, explained what they were doing and why, and were happy to answer my questions. I lost my room for a while because -- as they clearly explained -- someone with chest pains needed it. I didn't mind waiting one bit because I knew why I was waiting. When it was time to leave, I asked Kylie if I could see my x-rays and take a photo, and she found a laptop and helped me. It was nice to be able to SEE my broken bones and understand my condition. I was sad to see some low star ratings here, and I hope people understand how hard hospital employees work to help us. My nephew is an ER doctor, and the number of difficult "regulars" they need to deal with can be taxing and discouraging. Please remember to thank them for being there for us! I am grateful for their excellent care. read more
