I came to Dr. Melissa Ricci after what I initially dismissed as a minor injury. By the time I finally sought treatment, the infection became serious. At one point, I was in danger of losing my toe entirely. From the moment I became her patient, I felt completely well cared for. She responded with an aggressive well-calibrated course of treatment, including antibiotics and toe surgery. She monitored my progress closely throughout. What set her apart was the combination of warmth and deep clinical expertise. Her knowledge of the condition gave me confidence that I was in the right hands. Milton Hospital is a community hospital, member of Beth Israel Deaconess (BILH), that offers some inpatient services, but mostly outpatient ED. Walk-ins for ER takes a bit to get admitted even when there's no one else waiting. Can be frustrating. Seeing as Carney Hospital down the street has closed down, this will probably be super packed for ER. read more

If you're having a heart attack or any life threatening emergency and go here you'll probably die. The triage nurse is the rudest person I've ever come across. She delayed the triage process unnecessarily and completely dismissed the urgency of the situation. The way she talks to people is so cold and heartless. She should not be in a people-facing position or in the medical profession. To add insult to injury, the assigned doctor came in, asked a few questions and ran out for another emergency. Wtf! Milton Hospital SUCKS!!! I've gone to the ER here a couple of times, and once, I waited five hours just to get my finger stitched up. Also, one of the male nurses came out and called out a patient's full name and the reason why he was there, which is clear violation of HIPAA. I also had a nurse in triage give me an attitude while taking my blood pressure. The icing on the cake was this: My brother, who is a diabetic and has autism and mental retardation, has been sick for a few weeks now and NO ONE knows what's going on. He's been tested for everything and is negative. My mom brought him to the Milton Hospital ER, and they rarely acknowledged them as he was sleeping and trying to stay hydrated. They never even took his blood sugar!!! He cannot self advocate and they just kicked him to the damn curb. Absolutely terrible service. read more

The emergency room is a disgrace . If you go there plan on at least a six to twelve hour wait for care and a doctors help. The place is so poorly run it took someone i know four hours to get two tylenol tablets. The nurses stand around yakking most of the day from what i observed. Not sure if other hospitals are any better but avoid this place if at all possible. read more

I have been very pleased with the care my husband has gotten at Milton Hospital. He was taken by ambulance to the ER several times and they immediately did X-ray and ran labs. It took a long time to finally get out of there but they dealt with his issues right away and that is what I wanted. He is now on 3 north. The nurses and aides are wonderful. If I am not there they feed him. PT has been in every day to work with him. I am very pleased read more

I just had massive swelling on my neck - an obvious active and progressing infection...and the infection made my body feel like I had a bad flu, and also had pain across whole gumline on lower teeth. Milton Hospital is my go-to for ER. Drove myself in, parking right by door. Brought right in, only person in waiting room, triaged right away, tested for covid, put in a bed, given meds right away to quell the pain and made very comfortable. I was afraid and worried, but my nurse was so kind sweet and attentive that I was able to relax, put my headphones on and watched tv on my phone while CT scan with contrast was arranged. I was told I was going to be admitted, but eventually found out that prior jaw surgery complete with bone graft made it necessary to transfer me via ambulance to Beth Israel Boston where Maxillofacial Surgeons from B.U. would treat me. Logistically I was slightly irked that I hadnt been told I was going into boston as I had only prepared to be away from home for 2 days, 3 max, but no stars off for that because it was the right thing to do, just could have been told sooner is all. Tx to ambulance team was exemplary. I had to leave my car 4+ days (through 2 snowstorms) and there was no problem with that. Besides the obvious progressing infection, my main stress was to get pain control, and secondary stress was going into an ER in "covid" pandemic... Milton Hospital ER gets an A++ on all of that. My treatment was of the highest standards, and the covid precautions made the visit a 0 stress from that perspective from the moment i entered the emergency room. What a gem to have this level of care in my community!! read more

WORST treatment ever. 2 years ago I visited here and I will NEVER forget it. I had a severe infection, they were extremely rude, and I was essentially shoved out of the door even though I was saying my throat was closing. They barely spoke to me, left a pill on my table, and left. My partner had to flag someone down to ask what it was, it was an ibuprofen. I told them it wasn't helping, and they told me to leave or they'd make me leave. I have never seen medical treatment like this. I went to another hospital- I was having a severe anaphylactic reaction, and my lip was about to burst (my hands and feet were swollen so that I couldn't walk at all). We've had issues with this hospital in the past (incorrect medical bills for family procedures, cancellation of appointments day-of), but this brings to light a new concern of proper treatment. If you need treatment, go to Newton Wellesley Hospital or any of the ones in Longwood, the drive is worth it. read more

Have to say took my mother there last night around 7:30. She was having SOB. Although it was packed and a 5 hour wait. The staff could not have been nicer, more attentive and very caring. From the Triage Nurse Lyn to ER Nurses Michael and Kevin to Dr. Brown. All very professional, knowledgeable, kind, caring and concerned. I know it's hard on them also since Milton has a very large senior population which takes up a lot of their time. Also with Norwood Hospital being flooded and not open and Quincy Hospital being closed permanently. They are located right in a central location that seems to be picking up the two above hospitals patients. And doing so efficiently and with smiles!! Kudos to the staff at Milton ER. You may have to wait a while but getting the Best is worth it read more

I will never rerun to Milton Hospital after having a extreme pain in my leg to where i was unable to even walk I had an ambulance bring me to Milton Hospital and they performed a ultrasound to check for blood clots and told me nothing was wrong with my leg and couldn't explain an reason for the pain or why I couldn't walk and made me leave forcing me to try to walk out the er without even a wheelchair I went to BMC the following day and had another ultrasound where blood clot in my right leg was found as long as an infection where i had to be admitted for several days. I could have lost my leg due to Milton Hospitals neglect!! read more

Took my fiancé here because she was having severe stomach pains. She has a hearing disability and on the sign it says your allowed to accompany a person in to the ER with a disability so I politely informed the first nurse at check in and then she demanded to know what it was because she "walked in here fine" pretty rude so I told her that we don't have to disclose her disability under HIPPA and they let us in. Second nurse that checked us into ER waiting room did the same interrogation when we informed her of a disability and my fiancé being embarrassed finally admitted that she has lost hearing and she likes to have me there especially in medical situations so she can have me listen in and was then told it just wasn't going to happen. Currently sitting in my car while my fiancé is sitting in an ER room alone is beyond frustrating. So FYI if you or your loved one has a disability and you need emergency care please drive the extra 20 min and go to south shore hospital. read more

Milton Hospital is lacking compassion when it comes to behavior health care and for that I give them one star. If it were the hospital staff alone, nurses, doctors they'd get 3 stars. Due to their poor decision and partnering up with South Shore Mental Health they will however get one star. The the SSMH staff in the ER does not listen to your needs and they yes you to death. You ask for a request to be sent to a certain Psychiatric Hospital which you have the right as a patient to do but they however say they are transferring you to the one hospital you requested not to be transferred to. No notice either EMS arrives and nurses comes in saying that's were you are going so you cannot notify your family or outside providers who would fight for this to be changed. RN was rude and said that it wasn't a choice. Even though the hospital transfer was going to be from a safe one to Arbour Hospital the worst Psychiatric Hospital in the State if not the Country. SSMH and the ER RN should have been more compassionate and taken the patients rights into consideration. Other Hospitals in the area did have beds available but SSMH took the lazy way out and went with the easiest place to get someone admitted to. Three stars to Milton Hospital ER staff but 0 stars to the outsourced mental health staff they have. read more
