financial department is a mess, completely unorganized and quick to send fines. My high school daughter took a class as a dual credit and dropped after the first day after she was told about all the books need. Her counselor at her school had to drop it for her and wasn't able to do it until the following week and apparently they give you less than 5 days to do it. Now we have a $100 fine for a high school student who doesn't even attend there and when we called we got nothing but negative attitude and an unwillingness to help. Doesn't seem to follow Christian values to have posted all over their webpage. Shame read more

This is based on a college tour. My son decided not to pursue going to college here. This as a small Lutheran college on a small campus. The tour consisted of a welcome folder, free donuts, pastries, juice, bottled water. Then a power point video about the school and a walking tour. The media TV production area was really cool. My son didn't care for the small dorms or really small fitness areas. But they are building on and will be done in 2022 or 2023. We enjoyed a free lunch. The admissions guy answered a lot of questions. The chapel was really nice. The cost was very affordable for a private college. I would have totally went here 30 years ago. They really emphasize small class sizes and you get to know your professors well. This might be a great college option for the right person. read more

To be clear, there were a handful of absolutely amazing professors at BLC who made a significant impact in my life. Unfortunately, this does not outweigh the many cons about this college. The insular campus promotes hateful ideas toward LGBT+ people and those who are not specifically ELS or WELS Lutherans, and it's misogynistic leanings create an environment in which students feel compelled to get married before they're even done with their sophomore year. Those who are not Republican and pro-life will be mocked behind their backs and treated like garbage by other students and some staff/professors. Sexual assaults are common yet unreported, due to victim blaming and telling women that they have to forgive their rapists, if they are believed at all. A few years ago, a dorm manager's wife was sexually harassed/threatened threatened by students, and the school did little, if anything, about it. Religion classes are extremely simple and completely ELS-Lutheran focused, and a certain pastor makes racist, sexist, and anti-non-Christian remarks in his classes. Another "highly-regarded" professor told a classmate of mine that she was "emasculating her husband" because he was a stay-at-home dad while she finished her degree. As someone with major food intolerances, the cafeteria was a joke, since signage was often missing or inaccurate about common allergens in foods. I attempted to work with the cafeteria and the dean of students to get more options I could eat, but I ended up subsisting on fruity pebble cereal and bagels during my senior year. Furthermore, the school made very, very little effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, and a professor told the campus community (and ELS-synod) that wearing masks was infringing on their freedoms (as well as that the vaccine is made out of aborted babies). While I had a few professors that I absolutely loved, and my time on the speech team was incredible, other than that I really, really wish I had gone to a different college. read more
