Outdated and not menopause-literate. I came here hoping to get support for safe HRT -- specifically transdermal estradiol, which does not increase the risk of blood clots. Instead, I was told that HRT is dangerous without any discussion of current research or safer delivery methods. The provider clearly hadn't kept up with modern menopause care or NAMS guidelines. If you're a woman in perimenopause or menopause looking for evidence-based care, I suggest finding a provider who specializes in current hormone therapy protocols. It's frustrating to feel dismissed and uninformed when safe, effective options exist. Women deserve better. read more

My experience today at Bethpage OB/GYN was phenomenal from start to finish. The staff at the counter were super courteous and obviously knew exactly what they were doing. I had to wait for a short time but it was worth it to see my provider, Valerie Zeffiro, NP. Valerie is so down to earth and friendly that she makes an uncomfortable visit extremely comfortable. She is knowledgeable and explains everything to me in layman's terms such that I can understand and there is no confusion. I just went to this medical practice 2 weeks ago for the first time for my routine annual check up. I had no medical issues. I was very happy with the office being clean and the office staff being very nice, but I just got my bill from them and I'm very upset to say the least!!! They ran a test which was not part of my annual exam because supposedly it's something they require every new patient to do. I called my insurance company and they told me that this test is not part of preventative care and that's why I'm paying for it. My insurance company contacted the medical provider and they told them that they told me at the time of the visit that this test is not part of my annual exam and I agreed to do it. The truth is that I asked them because I never had this test done before as part of my annual exam and they told me that it is. I don't normally write reviews but this time I felt like I should write about this because I don't want anybody else to go through this. They are running unnecessary tests and don't care that the patient will get stuck paying for it because the insurance company won't see as part of prevention or necessary treatment!!! Doctors here are ok. The wait time is never too long and the staff is friendly. The hours are pretty flexible. The billing/ insurance dept is a mess. I was constantly charged a co-pay for my pregnancy visits, when my insurance carrier had confirm no co-pay for those visits. I had even told the front desk girls that my insurance does not require co-pay for pregnancy well-visits. I also received a bill from them for a 15 minute late show up without any warning. I'm always on time for my appointments, except for that one time. I'm pretty annoyed with their billing department. read more

I have been going here for about 20 years. the last 5 years The wait has become unreasonable. Forgetting about you, waiting way too long. But my last experience was the last straw. Went for my annual in November 2020. Got my mammogram in January 2021. They found something. Got a sonogram. That dr scheduled me immediately for a biopsy. 2 days later he called and said you have cancer. Not one word from my gynecologist. My biopsy dr said to schedule an MRI Which I did. 3 weeks later gynecologist calls and says oh I just got the results of your biopsy and you have cancer. You have to schedule an MRI, which I had already gotten no thanks to her. So angry because the radiologist office is right upstairs. So my gynecologist the liar that she is said she just got the results..... 3 weeks later. Bull! My cancer is very aggressive and that could have been a life and death mistake on her part not following up. Will never go back ever! read more

I have been going to this office since I was 13 and now I'm 31! They are just wonderful. The front desk and nurse staff are so nice and helpful. Dr. Thanus is one of the best doctors I've been to. I briefly went to other doctors while I was living in the city and I have to say nobody compares to Dr. Thanus. He takes his time, never rushes you, and will sit in his office and discuss everything with you. He's totally open to questions and is just incredibly kind and patient. Stay far away from these people!!!!!!!!! went to this office for a ingrown hair on my private area that turned into a abscess. I was given medication and was sent home as I stated I wanted it removed I was denied that. Later that evening after taking medication I was prescribed it popped on its own. I immediately called in to have in drained professionally being the location it was in. I was denied care by Dr.John Thanus, MD, was told to drain a abscess/boil that took up the whole left side of my private area at HOME this doctor is a lazy and inconsiderate doctor. I had to go to city MD where it was PROPERLY drained to prevent further infection. Please go to REAL MD's ladies who are thoroughly trained in there area because he clearly isn't!!! This is a very long overdue review. First, the wait time is extremely long. Like over an hour long wait. They rush you in and rush you out. The bed side manners are also lacking. One of the nurses made a very crude and uncomfortable comment to me when I was expressing a concern. However, the larger issue at hand is the medical expertise. Last year, I decided to get off the BC pill and switch to an IUD that I wanted. They spent a lot of time trying to convince me to not get that one but I knew what I wanted for my body. The procedure was horrible. I would say the insertion was about 15-20 minutes. The doctor made comments about there being resistance, it's difficult to get in, and it's hard to get in because it's the IUD that they didn't recommend and they don't prefer it. A couple of months after the insertion, I was having bad pain. When I went for my check ups, they said I had cysts and follicles and there was nothing that could be done for it. I expressed the pain and discomfort and they said there was no solution. At a later point, they said the cysts were gone and I had many many follicles that was causing pain. I decided to go for a second opinion to another doctor. They told me I did not have any cysts and my follicles are totally fine but that my IUD was completely out of place and coming out of my uterus! She said it needed to be removed. I decided to get another IUD insertion with the new doctor and the experience was a total 180 from Bethpage. The procedure took less than 2 minutes. I was totally in awe. I told them about my first IUD experience and they were shocked that it took so long. I am so happy I changed doctors. I do not recommend. read more

This is my first time ever reviewing a place but i feel it's needed. I've gone to a total of 4 gynos since i was 17 so almost 6 years. All my past doctors have made me feel uncomfortable, judged for my age since i was on the pill, and just rushed me. Then i switched to bethpage OBGYN. the first doctor i saw i wasn't much of a fan of because i wanted the IUD and she doesn't prefer it. that's why it's 4 stars rather than 5 because i felt it was my body and i should be guided on what i prefer. but Then i started to see Doctor Rutt. AMAZING. i would recommend her to anyone. I've told the receptionist that i've never trusted a gyno more than her. I've had a very difficult time this past year with the IUD. we tried 4 different times but my body doesn't want to accept it. that's no ones fault! I don't know who these doctors are that are listed, but I was there in February of 2016 and none of them were my doctor. I've had a different doctor every year for the past 3 years. This year when I went, they failed to tell me that they no longer took my insurance. The doctor then told me my previous doctor misdiagnosed me with PCOS, and that I HAD to come for an ultrasound. The best part is, when I talked to another OBGYN about this, she told me that I did not have ONE symptom that would lead her to "diagnose" or even THINK that I had this syndrome. Well, a few weeks later they told me that the ultrasound was "out of network" and that I had a $1,200 bill, along with a $50 copay, because apparently my insurance company "refused it." When I called my insurance, the woman laughed at the story that I told her and told me straight up that this office is clearly a joke. So to break things down, I saw three different doctors in three years, they didn't tell me they no longer took my insurance, I was "misdiagnosed" and told to come in for an ultrasound, and then charged over $1,200 when THEY SENT ME out of network. They really deserve 0 stars. MEDICAL FRAUD. Don't waste your time, you'll just have to fight with them and the insurance companies later. MEDICAL FRAUD. I specified with my insurance company and with 2 office staff that the doctor I saw, Dr. Tuchman, took my very specific insurance. All agreed she was a preferred, in-network provider. I called to make a follow up visit and was told that I owed almost $600! The front desk and "billing" dept literally told me 8 different reasons as to why I owed this money. I reluctantly paid because the visit was urgent but knew something didn't seem right. I looked into my EOBs from my insurance company that showed the office was billing my visits under an out of network provider and holding me accountable to the out of network deductible difference. I calmly spoke to the office to alert them of this mistake and they were the rudest, most disrespectful staff I have ever spoken to in my life. They pretended to not understand the "mistake", kept telling me it's my insurance's fault and that "there's nothing we can do". I called again to CALMLY explain the situation to the office manager, who avoided my calls and messages, and hung up on my mid sentence when I finally got her on the phone. Luckily my credit card company refunded me every cent of this MEDICAL FRAUD. read more

I went to a doctor in this practice for abnormal bleeding, bloating, back pain, and pelvic pain. I was told I had an infection and given an antibiotic, which didn't help. I was then told I had an abnormal Pap smear and needed a colposcopy which was scheduled for 3 months later. The Dr took 7 biopsies which ALL came back as high risk cells. The Dr continued telling me not a big deal and nothing to worry about and scheduled me for a biopsy under anesthesia, an additional 3 months later. Two days before my procedure the Dr calls me to tell me the pathologist at the hospital reviewed my slides saying they were extremely concerning, and I needed to see an oncologist immediately. Still, the Dr reassured me I was fine. I got an appointment with an oncologist a week later and was diagnosed with stage 2B cancer. Never ever go to this practice as the doctors are incompetent. I was misdiagnosed as having an infection when I had CANCER. read more

WORST office. HORRIBLE and RUDE receptionists and staff! Never any parking, always an issue. Impossible to get an appointment with the same doctor. Everytime i go there a different doctor sees me which is strange and i do not like that at all. Finally changed to a different office that can accommodate my schedule and where everyone is respectful, happy, and kind. Not miserable and mean like all the women at the front desk/phones. The office is beautiful and the rooms are nice and clean unlike bethpage. Garden obgyn in massapequa doesnt share their building with any other businesses so parking is so simple and not an issue.. i could never imagine parking at bethpage obgyn and being pregnant and walking such a long distance because their parking sucks. Also, the bathrooms are nice, they dont have their hand dryer in the WORST spot like bethpage where you pee in a cup and go to place it on the sink and have it get blown away by their stupid hand dryer. Ridiculous. Idk how this practice is still in buisness. They truely suck. read more

Since I've now had the same thing happen twice with this office, I had to share. Last year, when I went for my annual examination, I was surprised to find out that the office staff had NOT scheduled me with my regular doctor but instead with their new nurse practitioner. I was never contacted and was not told about this. They did not have an explanation other than "someone should have called, we apologize". While the woman was professional, she was anything but warm and I specifically requested that I only see Dr. Tuchman in the future. This past Tuesday, when I arrived for this year's examination, I was taken by surprise once again when I was told that Dr. Tuchman had left them "months ago". No one told me this when I called last month to make the appointment and specifically requested Dr. Tuchman. Not only did they not mention this, they once again scheduled me with the same nurse practitioner that I specifically requested not to be with. Again, I got no other explanation other than "we apologize, someone should have called". It's worth mentioning that at every appointment, the office makes you fill out a two sided paper confirming all contact information including mailing address, work address, home number, work number, cell number and email address. They then make you sign off that they can contact you using any one of these methods.....yet no one contacted me on either of these occasions. When I asked to speak to the office manager, I was told she was out until 1/4/17. When I asked to speak to the head doctor, I was told he was out of the country. When I asked to speak to the girl who scheduled my appointment, I was told she wasn't in that day. I know, you can't make this stuff up. In my opinion, this office couldn't show they care less about their patients if they tried. If you are looking for a professional, responsible, and organized ob/gyn office who truly cares about their patients, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I can't explain what a bad experience I had at this office. As a medical student, I expect the best customer service and care from all medical facilities. During my doctor visit with Dr.Storch I was rushed out of the office. Everytime I asked a question about specific procedures or services, I was never given an actual answer!! When the doctor was writing a prescription for me, she took out a book on how to write prescriptions!!!! Now the most embarrassing part of my visit dealt with the front desk. First I was told that I didn't have insurance ! Which of course I did, I pay for my insurance each month, I know I have it. After being told that I may have cancerous cells and I need it to be checked out immediately I paid the office in full. I didn't have time to fight with them about insurance. Thank god I found out it wasn't cancer. However this allowed me to have time to check on my insurance. I found out that Angela in the billing department never even contacted my insurance about the procedure!! Scammers. They wanted me to just pay in full, when someone claims cancer they know you'll pay anything !!!! It's been two months, and everytime I call to try and can my refund, which my insurance company told me I was entitled to, I am belittled on the phone. Angela in the billing department screamed out to the whole office my name and the fact that I don't have insurance. I had never been so embarrassed in my whole life. After the procedure I had pain. I rescheduled a recheck, during my arrival the girls behind the front desk all spoke about me to one another. The night before my visit I even received a phone call asking me how I will be paying for the visit!!!! Incredibly rude. I told them I will be paying my copayment however I decide I want to pay, and at this point I consider their phone calls about payments as harassment. Anyway the doctor refused to even look at me again. She told me the pain was in my head. That her procedure was done perfectly and basically accused me of having mental problems. In November, I called to make an appointment, for what I felt was a medical emergency, I was told that they no longer accept my insurance! When I questioned why I was not notified, I was told that they just have too many patients to notify, and just informing those affected as they call.... Really?? As a courtesy, shouldn't you notify your patients? So they can plan accordingly? I then asked if they could recommend another doctor and she suggested I call my insurance carrier...So, now I am forced to find a new doctor (which I have) who does not know my medical history, and in need of my medical records. This could've been avoided had I been notified! So I can get the proper care that I need when I need it! Shame on you Bethpage OBGYN handled very poorly. VERY disappointed in your office. read more

This business is great and the doctors and nurses are nice - while you're there. I've been using Bethpage OBG/YN for a few years now and I'm fed up with this business. They don't have the decency or professionalism to let their patients know that their doctors are no longer practicing there and then refuse to assist you in any way. My now second doctor there has left! When I called to ask for help about a prescription, she first suggested I leave a voicemail on a different line. I tried to explain that I'm having surgery in two days and will be unable to get there for at least a month, was wondering if they could just help me for just one month prescription, and the receptionist I spoke to was extremely rude - she wouldn't even let me finish my sentences! And to think it could've all been avoided if they had told me the doctor wasn't there anymore when she had left!!!!
