We rented the Double Decker for Father's Day. We had a total of 11 people. The boat was perfect! We had plenty of space. The slide was a huge hit with everyone! I would highly recommend it! The staff was awesome when we checked in and out. We will definitely do it again! read more

My in-laws rented a pontoon with a slide from here a few days ago. When we all arrived they provided a much different looking boat than what was reserved online. Lets just say it was a more run down pontoon than the one that they had reserved. When they spoke to the manager he explained to everyone that the nicer pontoon (the one reserved according to website) was for club members only and was unwilling to correct the issue. The employees here need better training in first aid as well. When we were leaving an employee was injured by another boat and needed medical attention. It was obvious that the employees were not fluent in first aid. 2 stars because even though the mix up we still had a good time and some of the employees were polite. It seems they have unethical practices. Beware when renting a boat here! read more

So impressed with this company and service(s). We had the BEST day on Lake Murray. We rented from the Leesville location and were greeted by a few very friendly, helpful young men. There were at least 3 people available to help us move our belongings from the car to the boat. So, right of the bat we were very impressed with the level of customer service. The boat seemed to be maintained and was clean. We chose the double decker 27' boat. One of the attendants took us out for a short distance to go over procedures, boating protocol and answer any questions. This was helpful as it was my husbands first time. It was a little challenging to reach someone when we ran into some trouble, but we did get a call back. Not a big deal. Again, staff was so friendly... we will DEFINITELY be doing this again. So, the paddle boat that my fiancée and I rented had a hole in it and it filled up with water an hour into our excursion (we paid for two hours). We had to flag someone on the shore down to help us turn the boat on its side and dump the water out. When he did this, he said there was an obvious hole in it. We called the boat rental place to explain the situation and get their assistance in getting the faulty boat back to the dock. The guy on the phone acted like he didn't believe us and asked us if we could try to paddle back. Um no, when we paddle, the boat fills with water and starts sinking. How could we possibly peddle it back? They eventually came to get us on their company boat but the battle with them still wasn't over. My fiancée and I asked if we could at least get a partial refund since we only got an hour (if that) of time to actually enjoy the boat before the incident. The manager very rudely told is that 'there's nothing wrong with the boat so I can't do that'. Now, he said this without even LOOKING at the boat so unless he is psychic, I don't know how he magically knew the condition of the boat. I informed him that the boat didn't just randomly fill with water for no reason and that the person who helped us found a hole. The manager grumbled about being asked to look at it but eventually did it yet still insisted that he can't do anything about this until maintenance looks at it. That's a load of crap because the damage is really obvious and again, our boat didn't just randomly sink for no reason! I could tell at this point that they're trying to weasel out of responsibility so my fiancée is planning on calling his credit card company to dispute the charge. Update: the owner eventually refunded our money and he was much more pleasant than the manager we dealt with. My one star review still stands though because of the disrespectful way that the manager spoke to us on the day of the incident. read more

A true family owned/run/operated small town business This company and these people are truly one of a kind. When you think about a small town family run business, you think of kindness, integrity, gratitude, and hard work. Well, that's what I think of anyway. Better Boating is the exact definition of that. Not to go into too many details, so in short, I will say that I was in a HUGE predicament with a meeting that was either going to make or break my career. John (the owner) went completely and totally out of his way to make one of the biggest days of my career a huge success. Not only did he take the time out of his own schedule, bend his own rules (risking the livelihood of his own career), when I came to him and explained how dire the situation was, he found ANY way to make it possible. I went to Better Boats with a huge mess on my plate, messed it up some more, and they helped me clean it up and pull things together. These are GOOD people with GOOD CHARACTER and so much INTEGRITY. They reminded me of the kind of business I want to run one day and the values I want to instill in something that will carry my name. Every single employee at Better Boating was incredible. The amount of kindness and care I received was truly the mark of a business that takes pride in their work, but also never loses sight of their character and true values, taking care of each customer as if they were their own family. Thank you, everybody at Better Boats for being the wonderful people that you are! Oh, and by the way, the boat was pristine, in great condition and great quality, not a single thing wrong with it! The price point was great. The employees walk you through every step of the entire experience. They have customer service down to the t. As soon as my clients and I got out of the car, they greeted us by name, took our things, gave us a very thorough explanation of the boat and rundown of the procedures, and kept in touch with us throughout the day, updating us on weather and upcoming radar. When I couldn't find my way back, they guided us back by phone and they came out to the fuel dock to greet us, relieved that we had found our way. And what I was most impressed with was how forgiving they were even though we were late and somehow managed to lose a fender. I couldn't have found a better company to do business with even if I had all the time in the world and wasn't in such a frenzy. Thanks again! read more

Two of us girls rented a tandem kayak mid week from Better Boating. The guys at the rental stand were very professional and made the whole rental process super easy! (And they were cute....bonus!). With our sunblock on, cooler packed and tunes ready, we had an AWESOME time out on Lake Murray. The area to kayak in is huge, so we had plenty to explore and found several great places to get out of the kayak and take a dip! We love that the water was smooth as glass and still very warm. Words can't describe what and amazing time we had, but hopefully you get the picture and give these guys a call when you want to do some kayaking! read more

We rented a boat for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend. We arrived around 10 and were immediately greeted and taken to our boat (the Bravo). The operation walk-through was thorough and fast. The deck hand was great and answered all of our questions. Our boat was clean and large. It was only my husband and I and we loved having so much room! Everything on the boat worked great and it was nice having the canvas to provide us with some shade. We returned around 5:30pm and were greeted right away, refueled quickly and taken back to the marina. It was the easiest experience and we cannot wait to do it again! read more

Called to rent a boat to go tubing. They have half days on the weekend, which is great for an out of state visitor. However, when we arrived, the boat was not equipped to pull a tube. We were very disappointed that wrong information was given. So, triple check if you are looking for that. The owner allowed us to have a tube to just play on, but was definitely NOT the same.
