Because those services also sell tree removal, which is very expensive. It also is the primary focus of their business. So by making a judgement that a tree "cannot be saved" they know you are most likely, since you already have them there, that their quote for tree removal is the one you will accept. The dilemma is that all too often the tree was NOT in need of removal, but you are told that because removal is a much higher price tag than tree treatment. The team at Langley were transparent and clear about how to best take care of our trees and revive them. It turns out we were overwatering the maples and it overwhelmed the tree systems. They were clear and transparent and didn't try to sell us anything for the sake of selling anything. I really appreciate them using their knowledge and transparency. Although this means we'll ultimately have to have a significant amount of the tree pruned, Langley's Tree Specialist went above and beyond to provide me with recommendations, including documentation that I could share with Code Enforcement, to postpone this until January, when the tree would be more able to handle the stress.
