Better Decisions has helped me with Hourly visitations with my son during my restraining order. This has been a difficult time, but they were able to get a qualified supervisor for me 50 times over the last year so I could visit with my Son weekly for 2 hours. If I could give Better Decisions a lower rating than 1 star I would. During one of the most difficult times for my family, we relied on this agency to provide adequate supervised visitation. Better Decisions and their supervisor Savannah App violated several provisions in California Rules of Court, Rule 5.20 regarding the requirements for agency supervised visits. Including but not limited to: 1) Allowing the supervised parent to have unsupervised interactions while the supervisor took bathroom breaks during visitations; 2) Allowing emotionally damaging statements to be said to the children during supervised visitations by the supervised parent; 3) The supervisor, Ms. App had a personal and friendly relationship with the supervised parent via social media accounts and likely communicating/fraternizing with one another outside of the agency; 3) Ms. App provided a report to the Court that included personal conclusions, suggestions, or opinions of the provider without serving same to me or my attorney as required; 4) The agency ignored my attempts to address the children's disclosures and my subsequent concerns about the level of supervision by the agency and I was treated as though I was a "paranoid parent"; 5) Ms. App showed up to a Court appearance in apparent support of the supervised parent without a subpoena, lingered outside the Courtroom with the supervised parent, further evidencing a clear bias towards the supervised parent to which there was a personal relationship; 6) last but not least, when I requested records, a review of the supposedly recorded visitations, and the contract from the agency, I was ignored. Ultimately after being ignored for weeks by the agency I was told that I had to pay $450 per hour to meet with the owner Janina, with my attorney present. I just wanted to clear up my concerns about the supervisor at their agency and receive a copy of the contract which I should have received when the agency started their supervising services. Considering that Better Decisions was the first supervising agency we used, I was not aware of the deficiencies that are now clearly apparent. We are now working with a new supervising agency who is doing a wonderful job, and I am writing this review to inform other parents, in both the custodial and supervised parent roles, this agency does not take their role in protecting children seriously and definitely does not follow California Rules of Court, Rule 5.20 as required. If you are looking for a trusted supervising agency I recommend you look else where. I also want to note that several of the 5 star reviews on this website are actually employees of the agency, do your research!! read more

I met Alex Noriega on a Friday at 7pm on 02/22/2019 to sign up for a drop off safe exchange through this agency, provided our court order schedule and gave all my information as requested. Once I arrived on Sunday 02/24/2019 at 5:40pm to pick up my twin daughters the man that helped with the exchange which I never met before had no idea who I was even asked me where the mom was... I corrected him and asked him if I was supposed to sign them out or anything he simply replied "Nope, you're good to go!" I took my daughters and went home upset because how did he not knowing who I am just allow me to leave with no questions asked no proof of service no receipt nothing but maybe I over reacted and moved on with my day. Following up on 2nd time we had to exchange date as the court orders request is on Friday at 5:55pm on 03/08/2019. I met Janina Guarino and she asked if I was there for the counseling meeting and I simply reminded her that I was there for the exchange and she interrupted me and said I wasn't on the schedule and wouldn't let me provide her my new number so I requested she call the dad to ask him if he was available or not and she stated yes so I took her word and left the girls with her again this bothered me a lot because it shows so much unprofessional organization and no way to keep track of our court order obligations but they're supposed to be recommended from the court so I tried to not be bothered by this situation. When it was time for me to pick up my daughters Sunday at 5:55pm on 03/10/2019 I arrived to a CLOSED office and called with no answer I had to leave a voicemail and haven't heard from anyone at all it's 03/14/2019 and I can't explain any further how disappointed I am with their services and I was forced to make the exchange in their parking lot with no record or accountability of it even happening defeating the purpose of this court order I have to comply with. read more

I would not recommend anyone to use this agency for supervised family court visitation. The whole experience with them was unprofessional and unorganized. They cost more than any other agency on the Court list and are not worth the money. Janina was unorganized and even confused at times. Our first visitation was rescheduled four times, with the last one being rescheduled by Janina on Sunday, April 21, 2019, without this agency being aware that this was Easter and they would not be open that day. When asked for copies of their policies to ensure they were following the Court order they cancelled the scheduled visitation by text message and said that they were unable to provide services now in the future. Using this agency resulted in NO VISITATION and a whole month wasted in frustration. Multiple requests for a refund have been ignored by this agency. They collected fees for a service they did not provide! I strongly recommend to avoid using this agency. read more

Throughout my sessions I learned a lot in regards to anger management, decision making, parenting, etc. They were always accommodating to my schedule. Absolutely the worst organization I have ever seen in a business. The facility does not look clean and the carpets are filthy. I have arrived 2x with their lights off and doors locked even thought they confirmed our appointment numerous times. I have outlined my work schedule multiple times now and they still harass me for appointments outside my availablitliy. It is clear that they do not care about the children's wellbeing, but rather just an income. read more

I would reccomend this center. I was an intern for 6 mo. I find that the services are always client centered no matter what crisis was going on personally with staff the clients always come first. The staff always seemed to give the place a friendly, Comfortable, family like atmosphere. The staff seemed to be very weicoming to every client knew most of them by first name as they came in. The groups are small and every client felt they were heard.Thanks Janina for an experience that was educational I feel I am now ready to go out and be a well rounded counselor. read more
