I made a call to see what the wait time was and learned that instead of sitting and waiting I could schedule an appointment. I made an appointment for 11:30am on a Sunday morning. Upon arrival, I was asked to text "Here". Within two minutes I received a call regarding some questions, several specific to Covid, and once confirmed was told to come in. Upon entering, the receptionist was so friendly, took my license and insurance card and told me to go to Room 2. Unlike some places, once you get to the room, you Wait. Not here. The nurse practitioner was there waiting for me, took vitals, talked through why I was there, etc. Very friendly and easy. Within two minutes after the doctor arrived. We discussed the reason for my visit and he informed me what needed to be done, gave me a few band-aids, ointment, etc. Luckily no stitches!

I was able to quickly get an appointment and, once I arrived, I did not have to wait long.... refreshing! I was even more pleased with the level of care given by Dr. (Eugene) Sangmuah. He listened (that's important!) to my concerns and provided help accordingly. The office was able to provide an Xray on-site (very helpful and appreciated). She's very friendly, and she is accommodating of any kind of special needs you might have. I've been in a few times, and she remembers my name every time. I don't have health insurance, and she's always been really helpful in finding the right medication to treat whatever I need fixed up that is also reasonably affordable. She's even sent me to other pharmacies that she knew would have the medication available for cheaper. Most visits cost less than $80 too, which is awesome.

She ended up jabbing multiple fingers, kept squeezing the finger to get blood, couldn't get it into the tiny glass tube so she probed and scraped the tube over the cut for several minutes. It was excruciating. Then she couldn't work the machine that does the check so she did it all over again. Blood everywhere on the counter and sink. She forgot to give me a gauze pad to stop the bleeding. Told me to just grab one myself. Forgot to put a band aid on and apologized for that too. Dropped stuff. And after all that, blamed the machine because she didn't know how to work it, so all this was for naught. I'll have to do it all over again, definitely somewhere else. I'm pretty shocked, because last year I had a good experience here. But this hire was clearly not vetted by the hiring staff. She is a complete disaster.

I usually don't seek healthcare (aside from a yearly physical) all that often, so when it's time to…read morego to the Urgent Care, I'm usually at the place where I probably should go to the ER but I don't really want to - maybe medical drama watching in the 90s/2000s traumatized em too much. This location is very convenient to downtown Matthews off of Sam Newell and it is in a relatively new building complex. The traffic on Sam Newell and hwy 51 can/will back up, but luckily Matthews drivers are pretty friendly and will let you make a turn in while you are waiting in the dedicated turn lane. The Urgent Care entrance is on the other side of the building (furthest away from the parking lot entrance) so all you have to do is drive around. You are greeted pretty warmly and the front desk gets all your paper work and information, does an initial set of questions to ask why you are there. I am always weary about telling people how I feel in front of complete strangers, but luckily there was no one in the waiting room so I told her about my sore throat and how it was getting increasingly difficult to swallow. No waiting... since the UC was basically dead, I was called in, my vitals were taken, and the physician assistant attending did an exam. I was basically in and out in about 20min with some antibiotic scripts. People were super nice and their bedside manner was very good. Even had a few laughs since I don't visit the UC regularly and I had a bunch of rudimentary questions.

I returned a week later with an extremely swollen tongue and throat. I could not speak or move my tongue. They tried to brush me off and say that it was swelling due to the cold and sinus infection even though they recommended I take an allergy medication until it goes down. Definitely a severe reaction to the medication. A month later and I'm still sick.

Arrived 10-15 minutes early like they said and the digital sign said we had a 0-15 min wait, while the 2 walk ins had 15-25 minutes each. All listed on the board. Well they took one of the walk ins while we were waiting there & the board kept saying 0-15 minutes for about 45 minutes. Then we finally were brought back into the room where a nurse took her vitals. It's now 10:30am and the doctor has finally come to look at her. He seems quite concerned and caring. He seems thorough. Just an hour and a half late! She is missing school and I am missing work for this. It's a Carolinas Healthcare facility & CHS also owns her primary care pediatric office. Yet they acted like they had no information on her?? Until I reminded them her records should be in the system, then miraculously they found out they knew her results from the pediatrician office. Sickening! I won't be back. Time to try Novant facilities instead of CHS.
