The young ladies at the front desk were so patient, and the medical staff actually listened instead of rushing me out the door. The place was clean as a whistle, and although there was a bit of a wait, they kept everyone informed, which I appreciated. The provider explained everything in plain English, and I left feeling much better than when I came in. It's hard to find people who genuinely care these days, but this urgent care reminded me that good customer service still exists. Terrible billing and communication practices, also no follow through on correcting their billing errors by submitting a claim using the correct billing code. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT choose this sick place as your medical provider!!!

I was able to quickly get an appointment and, once I arrived, I did not have to wait long.... refreshing! I was even more pleased with the level of care given by Dr. (Eugene) Sangmuah. He listened (that's important!) to my concerns and provided help accordingly. The office was able to provide an Xray on-site (very helpful and appreciated). Incredible incompetence by the PA at the MinuteClinic today. She definitely wasn't hired for skill…read moreand knowledge. She had absolutely no idea how to take blood for a cholesterol check. She ended up jabbing multiple fingers, kept squeezing the finger to get blood, couldn't get it into the tiny glass tube so she probed and scraped the tube over the cut for several minutes. It was excruciating. Then she couldn't work the machine that does the check so she did it all over again. Blood everywhere on the counter and sink. She forgot to give me a gauze pad to stop the bleeding. Told me to just grab one myself. Forgot to put a band aid on and apologized for that too. Dropped stuff. And after all that, blamed the machine because she didn't know how to work it, so all this was for naught. I'll have to do it all over again, definitely somewhere else. I'm pretty shocked, because last year I had a good experience here. But this hire was clearly not vetted by the hiring staff. She is a complete disaster.

I usually don't seek healthcare (aside from a yearly physical) all that often, so when it's time to…read morego to the Urgent Care, I'm usually at the place where I probably should go to the ER but I don't really want to - maybe medical drama watching in the 90s/2000s traumatized em too much. This location is very convenient to downtown Matthews off of Sam Newell and it is in a relatively new building complex. The traffic on Sam Newell and hwy 51 can/will back up, but luckily Matthews drivers are pretty friendly and will let you make a turn in while you are waiting in the dedicated turn lane. The Urgent Care entrance is on the other side of the building (furthest away from the parking lot entrance) so all you have to do is drive around. You are greeted pretty warmly and the front desk gets all your paper work and information, does an initial set of questions to ask why you are there. I am always weary about telling people how I feel in front of complete strangers, but luckily there was no one in the waiting room so I told her about my sore throat and how it was getting increasingly difficult to swallow. No waiting... since the UC was basically dead, I was called in, my vitals were taken, and the physician assistant attending did an exam. I was basically in and out in about 20min with some antibiotic scripts. People were super nice and their bedside manner was very good. Even had a few laughs since I don't visit the UC regularly and I had a bunch of rudimentary questions.

I returned a week later with an extremely swollen tongue and throat. I could not speak or move my tongue. They tried to brush me off and say that it was swelling due to the cold and sinus infection even though they recommended I take an allergy medication until it goes down. Definitely a severe reaction to the medication. A month later and I'm still sick.

Arrived 10-15 minutes early like they said and the digital sign said we had a 0-15 min wait, while the 2 walk ins had 15-25 minutes each. All listed on the board. Well they took one of the walk ins while we were waiting there & the board kept saying 0-15 minutes for about 45 minutes. Then we finally were brought back into the room where a nurse took her vitals. It's now 10:30am and the doctor has finally come to look at her. He seems quite concerned and caring. He seems thorough. Just an hour and a half late! She is missing school and I am missing work for this. It's a Carolinas Healthcare facility & CHS also owns her primary care pediatric office. Yet they acted like they had no information on her?? Until I reminded them her records should be in the system, then miraculously they found out they knew her results from the pediatrician office. Sickening! I won't be back. Time to try Novant facilities instead of CHS.
