And why not? these burgers are possibly the largest, most filling, & arguably most succulent burgers in town. Getta Burger is all about big flavours & insanely big burgers. There's no "gourmet" fancy scshhmancy pants here, just in your face, lets-get-messy, you're-going-to-cop-the-fat, but-be-back-for-more juicy goodness. Getta burger grinds & smokes their own meat, & make all their special sauces. The menu is uncomplicated, ranging from pulled pork, beef brisket, regular beef pattys, and nothing is over $15. They all sound so tantalising too, that you may just frustrate the counter staff with your indecisiveness. We ended up going with the: (1) "Getta Boss" ($14) - 12 hour smoked beef brisket, crispy bacon, double cheese, pickle, jalapenos & "That BBQ Sauce". (2) "Getta Beef Brisket" ($11), 12 hour smoked beef brisket, slaw, pickle, "That BBQ Sauce", & cheese. These babies are Monstrous! Basically, you can cut the burgers in half, & save some the next morning for lunch. Both burgers seem to have the right balance of flavours, moisture and texture, and hits all the right spots. We also ordered fries but it was the seasoning of their "own smoked salt dust" that stood out. Not sure how they've come up with that seasoning, but we were licking it off our fingers. Getta Burger is probably more suited to take-away rather than eating-in, as the space is limited & there's probably not enough seating to accommodate the hordes of burger lovers flocking to this part of town. Also noticed the girl on the grill looked about 17-18 which surprised me as brisket and other items on the menu are easy to get wrong without enough experience on the grill. Might explain the inconsistency I've had in quality of food when ordering from here previously. At this stage I dont really see a point coming back to eat at this franchise sadly.

It never seems too busy in this restaurant which for me is a plus, however some may think this is a negative. Booths along the wall, tables for groups and outdoor seating -all are comfortable seats. The space was once home to Krispy Kreme but has found new life offering Japanese burgers to the masses. With a sparkly new fit out (far fancier than the original store) I was surprised there wasn't more of a line when I visited. I'm not going to argue because the lack of line meant I could breeze in and order my fix. One chicken teriyaki burger meal, please. At the moment they are only running their introductory menu. Don't fret, there is still enough variety to choose from but some of your favourites may not yet be available. As always staff were super friendly and sitting down to eat my burger, for a moment if I closed my eyes, I could imagine that I was in Tokyo rather than Brisbane CBD. They're also operating on trial trading hours which look like will be Sat 14 Apr 11am - 2pm and 5pm - 10pm; Sun 15 Apr 11am - 3pm and 16-19 Apr 11am - 8pm. I know I'm not alone in being thankful for MOS opening their second Brisbane store and for the fact it is within easy reach for more regular visits. This may actually be a bad thing....

It's not a bad problem to have, really - much better than getting an unexpectedly tiny serving when a restaurant is aiming for 'pretentious'. Most recently I went to Grill'd with three friends. One was a vegetarian, and she was delighted by the vegetarian burgers on offer here. We all ordered different burgers, all with bizarre stylized names I cannot recall now nor mere seconds after placing the order. When they came out, the shapes of the buns and spilling lettuce made them all look like the same burger. But they all tasted quite different. The sauces on each burger are definitely catered towards the burger's theme, which is good to know if you want to avoid something spicy (e.g. stay away from anything with the word "Mexican" in it.). Lamb burgers are interesting, but generally I stick with beef. I stuck with beef this time and, accepting a taste of the lamb burger from my dutiful friend, I think the beef burgers are better here. The vibe of this restaurant is a cross between 1960s retro and Planet Hollywood. It's a little unashamedly chain-like in its brash colouring, but it's a cool colour scheme and the "Grill'd" sign is written in a delightful Happy Days-like font. The location is also ideal: you're above-ground as Grill'd is located within a larger complex, so you get a nice amount of wind coming down off Mt Cootha, or however wind moves. I've been to a few other Grill'd locations and perhaps it's my local pride kicking in but they're never the same.
