Haven't been here in 8 years. Came into town and this is the first place we hit. Always great food and great service!

We went thinking maybe service/food has improved from our last visit! We walked in and stood for 2 minutes before being greeted. There's no other customers & only 2 seated. We finally got seated and our drinks were brought to us. We never saw a server again! We waited 20 minutes. I left $3 to pay for our ice water and sweet tea and we left! read more

What a lousy restaurant. My wife and I both got the tag team teriyaki chicken sandwich that was way too dry. This place is so lazy that instead of giving you a side of mayo in a little container to spread yourself, they give you one of those little packets that are impossible to open. I absolutely hate this. I didn't like it when I used the urinal, and after flushing the water sprayed out onto my legs and I got urine on me. Come on, man. I was there with my brother ans son on Aug 13th we waited at the door for over 20 mins no one came to seat us or ever to acknowledge us we left without eating. When we left some of the staff was outside smoking and on their phones out back. I will not be going back. Even when busy they should have at least greeted us and gave us a wait time. The beer cooler walls are full of black mold and the septic system is failed and has backed up multiple times is the restaurant. Usually the septic backs up I'm the prep room. The owner has refused to replace the septic and fix the cooler for years. read more

I attended an open Mic on the patio of Buns on Wednesday nights. The house band knows how to rock with soul. the crowd was older but receptive to different music styles. i introduced hiphop to them. not the radio pop version, but pro-black, pro-people groomed from the street hop. What a great time. I am looking forward to returning. Good times, good company!!! read more

I used to love between the buns and all of their locations. Due to pandemic I haven't been here in about a year. Today, we had dinner and their website isn't up to date: no specials, not a full menu. Website is misleading and there is no reason why their website couldn't be updated to reflect the changes they said the changes have been ongoing since the covid shutdowns, but now their fully "open" & no social distancing and it was packed. We went for specials that were advertised online and then there was no such thing when we got there. read more

Not the Best but Worth it The last couple times I have been to this location it's been ok. The burgers are drier then in the past. Good flavor still. The Papa Smurf is a MUST! Friendly staff. Just note this is a smoking establishment. Even if you request non-smoking it's still smokey. It's a 21 and over location. If you are a sports fan great place to watch several TVs and many options. The wings here are incredible! They are full wing plus drums but their drink "the papa Smurf"...let me just tell you. They have THE STUPIDEST RULE regarding these drinks. Mind you, I'm writing this after having two of these drinks. Were they good? Yes! But do they contain five shots each? Absolutely not! The rule is that you can't have more than two of these drinks...but get this...you can order as much alcohol in the form of ANY OTHER TYPE OF DRINK that you'd like. "So I could order 5 double crown and cokes?!" I asked our incredible server, Yvonne. "Yep!" She said! My reply, "do you realize how absolutely ridiculous that is?!". "I completely agree!" She said. So I proceeded to order 3 double captain and cokes, they served them with a smile and told me to drive safe. I wasn't driving but this was a perfect display at how backwards their policy is! Get with the times and use logic and intelligence regarding your "papa Smurf" policy. Yvonne gets 5 stars. But the 80 year old white man that thinks he's a Supreme Court justice living in the 50's that stands by this idiotic rule gets -4 stars. 1 star to garner attention and change this policy. read more

I think they must have new ownership. The place was dirty. The food was nasty, I left more than half baskets of my food. I figured if i thought it wasn't edible there, it wouldn't improve taking it home. I use to love there Homerun French fries and the Cajun chicken strips. I won't go there again. They must have just been wanting the liquor license. They surely can't survive on the food reputation for long. My server was great, but I won't bother going again. The place around forever with many of the menu items having been around just as long. They've added more draft beers to the list which is great. Unfortunately, the smoking in the place is horrible . The non-smoking area is hardly non-smoking and makes for a horrible experience. I thought that restaurants weren't allowed to let people smoke in Indiana anymore? read more

I ordered the chicken wings and was very disappointed. I received the entire wing ( the tip, wingette, and drumette) all attached not broken down into the wingette and drumette like ever other place that serves them. It sounds like a silly complaint but this made it very challenging to eat. My suggestion would be to change the way you serve them. read more

The food was great when we first started going here, it's gone way downhill. I use to get the Cobb salad and it would look amazing! Now they just throw the toppings all over it and doesn't make it as appetizing. My bf loves the fish, just make sure you ask for the fries to come in a separate basket (this applies to the chicken strippers too!) I don't like that you can't hear the jukebox well, when you ask for them to turn it up they still don't turn it up loud enough to hear. read more

For as much hype and Between the Buns gets I honestly think they're just meh. The burgers and sandwiches are your typical bar fare and the prices are just as average. The drinks are reasonably priced and the Papa Smurf is pretty fantastic. Service is hit or miss depending on how many drunks are hitting on the waitresses. This place used to be a dive but now it is a dump. This was usually a local dive that had decent food and some good beers. Now it is just awful. the sandwich I had tonight tasted sour, it was supposed to be a club sandwich. This is a smoke establishment and the area that is supposed to be "non-smoking" smells like a bbq smoker. My last trip to what was my FAVORITE restaurant. Anniversary celebration for lunch. Went to order the Texas Longhorn steak sandwich and its no longer on the menu. No other steak options. Asked the waitress who appeared surprised and said, oh it was such a popular menu choice. Well, Ordered a hamburger medium rare and hubby ordered chicken salad. Two other tables had customers. Twenty minutes later food arrived. I can honestly tell you this is the WORST hamburger I have ever had. There was NO taste and I think it was on the grill the entire 20 minutes. The waitress never came back to check and SEE if the order was correct until time for the bill. I guess she didn't notice my meal sitting there with two bites gone? Great place to go grab dinner and some drinks in a layed-back atmosphere on the weekend. Menu has a nice variety of pub food, burgers, salads, and awesome appetizers. Saturday is Papa Smurfs day for $6, my favorite, but don't be fooled, they sneak up on you! On the downside, this place is still has smoking. When it gets busy, the "non-smoking" section is just as bad as smoking. read more
