I have been coming to Beverage Barn for a few years and I can not only attest to the fact that they treat EVERYONE with respect, but they are friendly and helpful! They've brought things to my car for me when I didn't ask, i've gotten 10% off when i bought a case of wine and there is always a conversation between either Mike the owner or Conrad about sports, weather whats new with me etc... not only that, but I've witnessed this happen with tons of customers in the past couple years. Its actually astonishing how many people come in and are greeted by their first name. I was given lowest legal price in CT and gotten a delivery for a really min fee when i had a BBQ last summer. As someone whose worked in restaurants and understands CT pricing laws thats a big deal for a local liquor store to do that. Selection- THE BEST craft beer selection in town! There is always something new or different being recommended by Mike and the staff. I'm a huge fan of the craft beers and they really do offer a big selection for a friendly neighborhood store. My mother in law always get wine there and says the selection is perfect and Mikes a "sweetheart" Parking is easy and you could be in and out in a few minutes. Pricing is very good and very competitive. I have to respond to the "mystery shopper" Maybe you should shop a little bit more I don't... mysteriously! I would certainly question in my place of business, someone taking 40 pictures for 20 minutes and lurking in the corner. Sorry in this day and age you cant be too careful. If something is out of place like a random person taking pictures and acting out of place, thats concerning. Then to go online and personally attack someone is really rude and disrespectful. I'm sure the company that paid you would not appreciate it, especially if you are at a business that is supporting their products. The review seems really misplaced At the end of the day I would recommend this store to anyone and everyone because they are exactly the type of business i want in my neighborhood. Totally not biased because I work across the street. Konrad is very personable and good to banter with. I don't know how prices here differentiate from other CT Liquor establishments, but I feel it's worth while. Good selection, and if you're a regular, they will hook you up with the good beers. read more

I don't understand the 3.5 stars. I live in nearby Darien & even though I work in Old Greenwich, I'm never displeased with availability nor price. It's fairly priced. Plus, the guys and gal (lol) have been nothing but nice. I hope they stay in business. Speaking as a fellow small business owner, it's hard right now. read more

I recently went there on a field assignment to assess certain products (aka mystery shop) the place had no customers in it and the owner was watching me very closely. I did not introduce myself because I am MYSTERY SHOPPING, hence introducing yourself defeats the purpose of it being a mystery. What if i was looking for something for my husband and taking pics to show him? I was looking for the certain products that they pointed out to me so CLEARLY THEY KNEW WHY I WAS THERE and did what I had to do so the owner felt angry about this and decided to approach me and ask me who I worked for. He was NOT PLEASANT I am a woman and this is a man approaching me in his store angrily which is menacing and threatening. Demanding to know who I work for and why I was taking photos and his shop and I explained to him I picked up an assignment on an app and I'm completing it. I apologized to this man several times during the and I tried to calm him down but he was not very pleasant about he was angry he wouldn't accept the apology he would not change his tone of voice and he cornered me and I felt very threatened by this man to do a simple task by taking a few pictures. okay so this is a locally-owned store and I do understand that he could be a little bit concerned that people are taking photos in his store but he is selling products for big companies which pay to be featured in easy to find areas and they do in fact do things like mystery shopping however the fact that he was a man approaching me and not in a pleasant way really really says something for his personality and his demeanor and paranoia. OMG I'm threatened by someone taking pictures in my store. I was not infringing on any customers ability to purchase anything because nobody was in there. I didn't know i was walking into paranoid hornet's nest. You'd think I was stealing trade secrets or something by the way he acted. I was actually going to buy a beverage and because of the way he treated me and told me because I didn't introduce myself he didn't appreciate me being there, I chose not to buy anything. There is no law that I'm breaking and pictures don't do any harm unless you want people to see inside of this dump, which I would gladly post. But because he felt that I should have introduced myself and asked if I could take pictures (I don't think he understands the POINT of mystery shopping, you don't introduce yourself you don't let the company know that your mystery shopping) so this man not friendly and completely rude certainly not pleasant to women in the face of some sort of perceived threat. BTW I was in two other liquor stores in town, nobody bothered me or was even concerned, maybe that was because their stores were full of customers, just saying! There is a BIGGER BETTER store right down the street who is killing it, they offer far superior customer service and the level of services and they have thousands more than this low class, low brow pathetic excuse of a man. yes I am deliberately leaving this here so people know who runs that place and what kind of person that is because I was presenting no threat to his business or anything I was just there to take a few photos and be done and be on my way and make a few bucks that's it at no expense of his. So I'm sure this guy is going to read this review and I want him to know that he's getting this review because of the way he treated me as a woman and as somebody who's just doing something that a company ask them to do if you don't want people coming into your store to look and see if the products are where they're supposed to be don't be in business case closed and don't be a dick head. I still am trying to figure out why people get so bent out of shape that companies reserve the right to see if their products are featured prominently. Also don't CORNER A WOMAN in your store and make her feel threatened especially when you are taller than her and you are approaching her in an ANGRY MANNER you must be some kind of special. I feel bad for your wife. It is NOT ILLEGAL to take photos in a store. I did not know if he was going to try and hit me or take my phone but intimidating a woman is a pretty pathetic thing to do. You are living in the 21st century with cell phones in everyone's hands and the Internet at our fingertips. You better believe I am going to advise people of the way you reacted. Trust me the condition of your store and your demeanor, if it was your competition checking prices I assure you, you pose ZERO COMPETITION for presentation or your product and your shit attitude. Only pathetic men feel threatened by "perceived competition" which makes sense after being in your store. Some of the prices a little higher than the competing store close by. The main issue I had was when I looked at my receipt later, I had been charged $1.45 service fee. When I called to question same I was told there is "a small service fee for using a credit card".!!!!!!!!!!!! The customer should be informed of this. I use my credit card ALL the time and have never been charged a service fee in the US and CERTAINLY in none of the other liquor stores in Stamford that I have been to. Tiny shop, but has a good selection of basics and you can get in and out quickly. I also like the friendly-nature of the guy that works there (maybe he owns it?). Prices are slightly higher than a volume chain store, but some things are similarly priced and you get the convenience of being able to park right by the door and be on your way within 2-3 mins. read more

Mike is the best package store owner I have ever come across. Just today he produced the single best series of rare citrus IPAs (straight candy for a connoisseur) I have ever had the pleasure to taste, and I have tried almost everything. The ambiance is phenomenal and charming and welcoming. Aside from the expert selection, overt warmness and strong guidance from the staff, the location is central to the Stamford/Darien post road area and exit 9 of 95. There is a phenomenal restaurant called Sergios down the road too, if you would want a nice grinder sandwich and are doing a 95 movement. Mike is a large blond man who drips friendly confidence and does his best to provide the absolutely coldest, most pristine beverages this world traveler and arbitrage engineer has ever found. Make the decision to head over when in the area and luxuriate in the bounty that has been provided for ofference. You will absolutely be satisfied. Extremely highly recommended. read more
