When I said what I was looking for, I was taken straight the absinthe. I don't think i would have found it on my own. This is a pretty small store that doesn't seem to have the largest selection. The absinthe was only available in one size - it will probably last me the rest of my life. This sounds terrible, but I rarely leave the ABC with just what I went in for. I found a few other things to try. Even though the prices were clearly marked on the shelved, I still had sticker shock - the Alabama sin tax annoys the heck out of me. Check out was pleasant - we had a little chat about various drinks and then I was on my way. I still haven't made my Sazerac.

I called Liquor Express to see if they had some and the young lady at the counter said she would contact their distributor to see if any was available. Usually by the time the beer is available here in Huntsville, it's almost through being brewed due to the short 3-4 month brewing time. I left my name and number hoping to hear good news. The next day I was called and told the distributor had a few cases. I quickly responded with "yes, I'll take them and thank you". I hot footed it over to Liquor Express and picked up my Hoptimum. If you have a specific spirit that you cannot find, please check with Liquor Express. They do a great job of finding craft beers for me.

I came here for a champagne tasting and brunch event I saw on EventBrite. I must say to access the…read morebuilding, the parking is tight and parts of the building is tight, but it's definitely a cute cellar. We were greeted when we entered and were given some instructions but I must admit, I was a little lost. I was told there was some outside seating (all of the tables/chairs were taken inside) so since this was my first time visiting, I wish there were signs or maybe the hostess could have showed us specifically where to go because oops, I accidentally opened a door that appeared to be an office. Someone saw us and we probably looked lost to them and so they were nice enough to show us the outside area which had a singer who sung some Frank Sinatra songs. He was very talented and appealed to the audience. To our surprise, we saw behind us a table for the tastings. I asked the server for a champagne card so I could take notes and view the prices, but she said when we entered, we should have received one. So I went back to the front and asked the people at the door for the champagne card and they stated that they were printing them, and that they will hand them out a little later. Also I wondered about my brunch that was paid for separately and they said they will come and find me when it was ready. I am glad that we were able to find a table because now I am wondering if we couldn't, how would we have eaten our food. In my opinion, tables should have been reserved for customers who ordered food. Also I wasn't sure how they were keeping up with which customer showed up first because we weren't given a number or anything to show that we ordered food and what our number in line was. At first glance, they seemed unorganized. But as the time progressed they did eventually bring out the champagne cards and they apologized for the lateness of us receiving our food. As the event was coming to an end, one of the workers gave us info on future wine tastings and when they have a live band. All in all, we enjoyed the experience despite it seeming to be unorganized at times, but will definitely come back and visit soon. P.S. The champagne was great! Even bought a bottle. Also the brunch tray was delicious. Hats off to the chef! That whipped goat cheese with orange marmalade was amazing!

I recall you could mix and match your wines in the case and still get the discount. I don't think Windmill offers the same discount, but don't quote me, I've been wrong before. Great Sprits always had Vinho Verde which I love in the hot summer months and the staff would be more than happy to help you to the car with your purchases. There are several coolers with chilled wines and beer selection. This location is "easy in" and "easy out" if you are southbound on Memorial Parkway. I have never had a bad experience at any Windmill store I've been to. This store should be a solid option for your beer/wine/liquor needs. I recommend you ignore the Yelp classification of this being a party planning store, or a gift shop/wedding gift shop. The only gift related items I saw here were wine gift bags.

The store had one other customer this afternoon. The clerk was talking to us about an upcoming sale of special bourbons for Bourbon Heritage Month. We did find the Hennessy XO and Johnny Walker Blue. Neither were stocked at 2 ABC stores in Huntsville. They were being bought for gifts. It was nice to browse and ask questions without interrupting the store clerk. He had a few stories about different sales in the past and discussed collectible liquors. Very interesting and fun to hear the stories. It is really on Spring street just prior to Jefferson. The experience starts with the service and atmosphere. Top notch'. Came in solo and they had options inside, bar, window or wine bar. I asked what they recommended and she said the wine bar. Denise is the host de jour in the wine bar. Perfect she was great and 70's classic light rock. So cool. Check out the pics. Great place to chill drink some wine. Even cooler on a date for a nice quiet time relaxing. Denise really knew the menu and chefs. I went with the canadian bakin baguette and farmers market plate with chicken. The baguette was warmed nicely and the garlic spice butter was really good. The farmers market plate was a great surprise. All the veggies melded together perfectly. The flavor profiles with tomatoes, watermelon radish, asparagus, brocolini.... was awesome. Add in a little salty spice with sweet potato mash at the bottom. Dayum great dish. I did get the chicken with the dish. Totally not needed, the veggies carried the day. Minor feedback for the chicken would be a char on the chicken to go with the dish. I forgot about the duck fat fries and ordered them. Almost perfect. They came out piping hot with great flavor. The curry catchup and garlic aioli were great. Minor feedback is the fries did not appear twice fried. They were good but that would be the additional touch. I will count the fries as dessert. They were delicious, definitely a shareable side, I did my best on my solo date. Service continued to be amazing. Denise replaced my water bottle not because it was empty but because she thought it may be warm. Great experience, great food, great atmosphere. Definitely recommend for party or date to relax.
