I'm an absolute fan of this place. When I first started visiting Huntsville, I appreciated Liquor Express for it's location and inventory. Over time, I became annoyed by their 'service' and only later did I realize they were sister businesses. I've been visiting Open Bottle for about 5 years now. Even though it's a hike from the city proper, I appreciate the vibes and hospitality on the bar side quite a bit. I don't find myself shopping in the retail side that much just due to their location. Just a super casual place to hang out, have a beer or two and talk with friends. If this isn't enough, they have half price beer on Mondays, and half price glasses of wine on Tuesdays We played bingo this past Monday (it's free!) and came home with 2 gift cards for the bottle shop. They have trivia, live music (see their Facebook page) and a food truck (just not on Mondays). Parking can be a little tight on busy nights but really, not too big deal. If you just want to enjoy an icy beer and chill for a bit, The Open Bottle could fit the bill just fine. read more

Came for drinks after an event. The place is a storefront but there's also a bar and large outdoor patio. There were quite a few people but it didn't feel crowded at all. Everyone was super friendly. There's no food but a very large selection of alcohol. We came for mocktails and were pleasantly surprised and impressed by the selection. All of the staff were friendly and our drinks were tasty. More than just syrup and soda. They are open late on the weekends but we just missed the band. Would definitely return. We also purchased some non alcoholic beverages that we haven't seen before. We love coming here for late night drinks! It's a liquor store in the front with a beautiful patio in the back. Often they have live music, various seating options, and a food truck at times. The outdoor space is large with plenty of seating. But be aware that they do allow cigarette and cigar smoking. There are not a huge number of bartenders so expect a wait. They were attentive in coming around and picking up empty glasses. There's no food provided so you may want to bring something or run over to Bojangles. it was very unpleasant with the smell of the cigar smoke. It's a shame how one person can affect so many others. read more

This bar/liquor/beer/vino store is just far enough off my regular beaten path that I forget it's there! It's caddy corner meaning, it faces east off of 72 next door to Bojangles, and is not really visible from 72, and, I'll just say it, we all know what a cluster traffic-wise this area is during rush hour. So, it's easy to miss is what I am saying in a very long winded way. We've only been once, shortly after it opened and for me, a strictly wine drinker it was between "meh" and "A-OK" really. We went on a Friday post work. You walk in through the retail area, past the retail cash register and wind around to the right to the back bar. Either it was over crowded or short staffed the night we went, but drinks were coming out super sssssssssllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooow. People were lined up for days for what it seemed like was, one bartender. The wine list was very limited and, I wanted a glass or two and some eats. Well, they don't have "eats." Patrons were getting Bojangles next door, or having pizza or grubsouth delivered. Really? No one wants a glass of wine on an empty stomach! :( Not wanting to ruin one of our rare nights out. I took one for the team, and got some wine. It worked out to be less expensive to actually buy a bottle of pinot grigio from the retail side (reasonable wine prices by the bottle with a decent, not expansive, selection) and pay a corkage fee (but I do not think they charged me one), drink what I wanted and take the rest home. It took a while to make this transaction but it worked out. The package and staple the receipt to the bag for the bottle was awkward. I don't think the bartender knew what he was doing and he put it in a tiny bag with most of the bottle protruding - whatevs, it worked out fine. We were fortunate to get seats at the bar, it's a fairly long bar and I don't recall any two-tops in the covered bar area. To their credit, they have a massive uncovered patio/grassy area out back. My suggestions to TOB would be to set up some standalone bars in the patio area (think Lee Ann's in the old days or Furniture Factory) and hire some cocktail servers/waitresses to improve their service and drink ticket times. They do have live entertainment, and apparently trivia and I think they host various food trucks now. If you dig beer, it's likely a great place to hang out now, during COVID since their patio is so massive especially now that the weather is so nice. read more

The Open Bottle is a true hidden gem. It's has a store up front and full service bar in the back. For those looking for a wine tasting venue feel, you are in the right place! If you ever want to go to a place to sit down and enjoy good craft beer, wine, and quality mixed cocktails then this is place( with indoor and outdoor seating) If you don't like what is on the bar menu, you can go into the store and select a bottle of wine (very extensive menu) and drink what you like (10 USD corking fee). I am really trying to like this place. Went again and no servers. All orders had to be placed at the bar. My party sat outside because the place was packed... Love the outdoor space... Ordering drinks is such a hassle... cannot complain about the bar tenders they do a great job.. It is just fighting through the crowd, waiting to be noticed, placing your order, and fighting your way through the crowd carrying multiple drinks... I wish they would add servers.... read more

A great addition to west Huntsville / near Providence area, the Open Bottle is very similar in style, service and products as their sister store Liquor Express. It's a package store and craft beer bar combine into one with a small division to separate the two. Compared to liquor express, it seems like the Open Bottle has much more to offer in terms of their package store products. A larger variety of liquors (it seems, although could be similar) plus the comparable amount of wines, port, beer, etc... available to purchase and take away. The draft beer list seems to be much smaller than Liquor Express, although it's hard to compare given the ~100 at Liquor Express. The beer list is available on a double sided sheet of paper and contains good options in both international, national and domestic. What I particularly like about this location is the large outdoor seating area with space heaters. I know I'll have to come back once it warms up to enjoy that space. Maybe in the future they could lay out some cornhole or bocce courts for casual gaming fun? Inside decor is pretty nice and spacious, I'll have to get more pics the next time I visit. Replying to another review - service seems to be at the bar only, but they do have plenty of table seating for larger groups. No food options that I saw, so be sure to come full but ready for good drinks. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Madison/Huntsville. I've always felt comfortable here. The beer selection on tap is wide-ranging and well priced. The bartenders are super friendly during the week and even when it's busy on the weekend they give good service. Trivia on Wednesday nights has always been a fun experience with friends. We usually wouldn't have any trouble finding a table or a few spots at the bar even though it stays busy. The trivia is challenging but competitive and really any team had a chance to place on a given week. I also enjoyed going on Friday nights because of the live music that would play. The artists were very talented and the volume wasn't too overbearing so you could still enjoy talking with your party. Just overall a friendly neighborhood bar. read more

A group of us went in 3/26/23 for a friends birthday last minute plan's. We sat outside listening to the live band that night. The ambiance outside was nice and eventing except the light's going out.... When we went to the bar inside the bartender guy working was not friendly or personal- He actually made us fell unwelcomed when he could of made a good tips.
