I used to frequent this place when I lived in Staunton a decade ago. We were in town for a day recently for the first time since and while visiting downtown and I made time to stop in and have a stogie (plus get one to go for my humidor back home). It's a beautiful building in a prime location, and I still love the layout. Service was always solid here and it still was---though they now request the buyer not to pick up their own cigars from the humidor, preferring to get them for you instead. I totally missed that as though I've encountered this at a few other cigar shops on my travels it's not the norm, but understand the reasoning. Great lounge area to enjoy your purchase. Prices are about consistent with most brick and mortar luxury cigar stores, if a tad pricey. Great accessories and accoutrements to peruse. I gave this 3 but it was more like a 3.5. It's quaint by small town standards. Overpriced Pipes by ANY standard, but considering they are in a town that's in the middle of west-nowhere... I'll assume the markup is shipping. The night I was there was a Snowy-Winter night, and my lady and I were just passing through on the way back to DC. The large windows, old men watching TV, and quiet ambiance's added to the experience in a way that was quite delightful. "Friendly-enough" is how I would describe the attendant and experience. Not a MUST, but a good place to stop through if you have nothing better to do when passing through. read more

I used to be a regular at this cigar store. Visited 3 or 4 times per week. Spent around $100 per week ($5,200 per year) for two years visiting. Really enjoyed the fine tobacco and the comfortable shop. Enjoyed being able to sit down and smoke in a cigar lounge, and talk to friends. Suddenly, and abruptly one night recently, the owner told me that I "crowded people going to the bathroom," and that I had "talked loudly." He said he had gotten complaints from customers and that he himself did not like me going to the bathroom in his shop so frequently, etc. No one had ever told me that I "was loud," etc. In fact, I thought the other regulars were my friends! I have a heart condition that requires me to take fluid pills. The other regulars and the owners of the shop had been told about this before. I have to go to the bathroom at least once every hour on the hour. This has been true for years, and the entire time I have visited his shop. Nothing in my behavior has changed! I felt very humiliated by this, and felt that I was being shamed for having a disability. Additionally, his bathroom is not at all handicapped accessible to be honest, and is down a very narrow and dark hallway, and it is hard to get to. If one needed to use a wheelchair, one would be out of luck getting to a bathroom in his shop. Also, as has been shown by the reaction of the owner, he is not the most considerate nor is he accommodating to individuals with disabilities. Regrettably, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Instead, I will buy pipe tobacco and cigars from other local tobacco shops in the area, and order online. The treatment I received in this shop has completely soured me regarding the idea of a cigar lounge again. I'm more comfortable now buying cigars and leaving to smoke at home, at a friend's house, in the park, or even in my own car before being mistreated like I was by this establishment! read more

This is a neat store in downtown historic Staunton. I have poked my head inside a few times now and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. It smells pleasant like my grandpa's old vanilla cigars inside. Now, during COVID, on weekends when they close the main street to car traffic, there is a tent just outside and you are invited to sit in their comfortable leather chairs and enjoy your smoke. They do have a bathroom that they are kind enough to let you use if you are shopping downtown and can't find one anywhere else. Much appreciated. You're a cool person, right? Suddenly, and abruptly one night recently, the manager told me a wild story about a time where someone locked themselves in their store. To be clear, I believe a few select individuals who frequent the shop to be casual acquaintances, and not friends. I would definitely say hello to them in public, but I wouldn't invite them to my home. Unless, they wanted to come to my home. Then I'd probably invite them over to watch a game. No plus ones though. I have an ADHD diagnosis that requires me to take Vyvanse. They recently released a generic version of the drug which is inevitably on backorder, so getting refills of a controlled substance with an inefficient supply chain is mad hard...BUT, I learned recently that there is a chewable version of the medication that is much easier to come by, which is nice. So, if you're keeping score: I eat Flintstone's vitamins AND chewable Vyvanse every morning. Talk about yin and yang scenario...any who...The other regulars and the owners of the shop have never treated me differently due to my neuro-divergent brain, nor have they passed judgement (to my face) on my severe and crippling alcoholism. This has been true for years, and the entire time I have visited his shop. Nothing in my behavior has changed! I feel very supported by them, and feel no shame for having a "disability". I don't necessarily consider it a disability, but the woke mob sure does. Additionally, their bathroom is decorated very well. You can even smoke in there. Have you ever smoked and sh....I haven't either, but I'm sure it's pretty great. I don't recommend going #2 in a small establishment's bathroom. It's not very polite or considerate to the fellow customers. I think you're safe to go in a big box store, though. Not only do larger stores offer more privacy, but they are also handicapped accessible. You won't have to navigate any dark or narrow hallways to use the privy. If one needed to use a wheelchair, the Lowe's on Richmond Rd. would be able to accommodate you. Again, I must reiterate, I'm a grown man that takes two different medications designed for children. It's kind of weird, but also kind of funny. Regrettably, I can't spend more money in this shop. Mainly because I can't pay my mortgage payments in cigar bands. You have to admit, cigar bands could be used as currency if you needed to set up an economy in a post-apocalyptic world. The treatment I received in this shop has been completely magical and has motivated me to try new cigar lounges as I travel. I'm more comfortable now buying cigars as I've been educated on the different types of tobacco and have been able to develop my palette. I don't smoke inside my home (nasty), but I would at a friend's house (not my problem), in the park (the LGBTQ+ nightclub not the public greenspace), or even in a rental car. All that being said, I don't remember if I took my meds today...oh well. 5/5 stars, would recommend. read more

Love, love, love this cigar shop! I was so surprised to find a nice cigar store like this in little ol' Staunton. The selection is great and by great I mean great. They have their house cigars along with Drew Estate, My Father, Rockey Patel, Romeo Y Juliet, La Aroma De Cuba, Padron, Oliva, Ghurka, just to name a few! The owner, Aaron, is a super nice guy who likes to dress sharp and loves cigars. James, one of the workers is also very nice and they are both easy to talk to and will recommend cigars if you want as well as cut and light them if you are going to stay and relax a while. The patrons are all very friendly too. You can sit down and have a smoke without feeling judged or like an outsider. There's a nice little lounge and tv where you can relax, talk, read, surf the net, whatever. They also have a live piano player on Saturdays, I went one night and it was fabulous. I really love the atmosphere too, very unique and cool to have the old school, 1920s kind of feel going on. I have been in Staunton working for the past few months and I visit here once to twice a week. Everyone knows me, says hi, and asks how I am. They are quick to invite you into your family if you come in regularly enough. I will be sad when I leave on Wednesday to go back to Atlanta but I will most certainly be visiting Beverly Cigar Store every time I am back to visit my Grandma or work in Staunton! read more

Southern Charm Being from San Francisco where tobacco prices on cigars are sky high and you can smoke um... no where, this place blew my socks off! They sell a fine selection of cigars, men's accessories: coats, hats, shoes, shaving stuff, etc along with a shoe shine, and have an indoor cigar smoking lounge. The owner was super friendly and was able to suggest an excellent medium bodied cigar. They also had live piano music with a man playing the piano Saturday evening from 4-8pm. They are closed Sunday's and Mondays. Had they been open Monday I would have extended my trip just to stay an afternoon here. It is a true gem. I'm already thinking of my next trip. This place made my week. I'm going to talk about it with friends for the next year. I just can't believe a place like this could still exist. It's a true gem. read more

My company's headquarters are nearby, so I visit the area sometimes, and Beverley Cigar Store is by far the best shop I've found. The mid-town main street atmosphere is refined without being stuffy, and the selection includes all the major brands as well as some house brands. The proprietor is friendly and knowledgeable, and seems to be innovative, but still staying true to being to his clientele. I don't go anywhere else, even though I have to drive a few miles to get there. It is worth the trip! read more

I don't smoke cigars, but wanted to stop in to look at pipes and pipe tobacco. This is one of the largest cigar stores I've ever been into, and at first glance appeared to be a locals type of place. There were four guys sitting around smoking stogies the size of baseball bats and I thought the clerk might be bothered with us stopping in to browse, as that has often been my experience in cigar stores. But not here. The clerk got up from his cigar and asked after us and was as friendly as can be. He wasn't weird or annoyed (at least he didn't appear to be) at me smelling all the pipe tobacco. And when I asked to get a tamper for my pipe he couldn't find one and just took the display. That impressed me most because he didn't even mention it as though he were doing me a favor or going out of his way. He simply looked for one and when he couldn't find one, he just grabbed the display. That's good business. As we were checking out, my girl asked him about Staunton. The guy stood there for at least 10 minutes just chatting with us and telling us history and what's going on and good places to go. He didn't have to do that. It was a great way to get introduced to Staunton. It didn't have the largest selection of either pipes or cigars, but was a great place to spend a little time. read more

Not only do they have cigars, but also an amazing selection of pipes, pipe tobacco, and smoking accessories. The store invites you to just sit down, relax, and enjoy the conversation. One can find all sorts of gift ideas for gentlemen (i.e. flasks, humidors, shoe horns, umbrellas, hats, etc).
