One Michelin star but should be more stars!
This was one of the most incredible meals of my life. I've eaten at other Michelin star restaurants that do not compare to the delight of this tasting menu. You have a choice of three tasting menus, one that includes more fish, and one that includes vegetarian only. I chose Fortuna - mix of vegetables and fish and dairy.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with exceptional service, and welcomed into a beautiful, waiting area, where the menu was presented to me from a bookshelf, much like an author, might present their work of art at an authors reading workshop. The decor was charming, as was the host.
You are also greeted with a glass of cava which corresponds to your appetizer.
The waiter then began to serve the courses to me, and I was escorted into the dining room to a beautifully decorated space.
With each course and explanation, and a delight to my senses. There were combinations of flavors that I've never thought of or experienced before in my life. Although my Spanish is very minimal, the staff were delightfully, willing to speak to me and explain things in English.
The Somali Layher host suggested a sparkling wine to go with my courses, and it paired beautifully.
I was wild in terms of my eyes, my senses of smell and touch and texture were delighted.
The final surprise was the chef coming out to serve and explain the sweets, which were created to highlight gran canaria, and the islands. The chef was charming, as were the host and waiter.
I feel like I just went to an art show, but I also had the privilege to eat the art.
Thank you for this incredible experience of a lifetime! read more
