The manager was not very helpful when I asked about an Italian wine i was looking for- she said- over there. There was no one on the floor to guide a customer where to find any wine or make a suggestion of a wine. I did find a few wines, I was familiar with and at checkout, I again was faced with a disgruntled person, who just gave me the wines. Refused to take back a corked $15 bottle of Chardonnay today. We shop there regularly. If it doesn't come direct from Napa, it comes from BevMax. Well, it did before today. We will never shop there again. And to prove we shop there regularly, here are screenshots of my Amex. This doesn't include my husbands visits. We have taken our business to Rye Brook Wine & Spirit Shop. I asked them about their policy. They stand behind what they sell, with or without a receipt. The worst customer service. Rude manager! I've been going there for many years!Never coming back. Avoid this place.

I don't have very many wine stores around me, except Varmax Liquor Pantry near the CT border which has better customer service. The employees at this Bevmax store must hate their jobs, but probably don't know how easy all of them can be replaced in today's climate. I put up with their sour attitude, especially from the tall girl with the green hair, because of its low prices. They refuse to disinfect their shopping baskets and scold you if you put it on their counter when checking out. They're all unnecessarily unapproachable. I used to buy a great white wine they had which would sell out fast and they just stopped ordering it. One day, they closed their doors for inventory. Never seen a wine store do that during regular business hours. The manager there should hire employees with better customer service experience. read more

BevMax in Port Chester does not care about customer service and did not make good on an inferior product it sold. I asked the manager for a refund for a bottle of "Agua de Piedra" Malbec wine we had opened. My wife and I could not consume it. It was insipid -- much different than the Malbecs we have purchased form this vintner, many times in the past in this store. What a disappointment!! - Maybe it had spoiled in some way. Most reliable wine merchants would have provided a refund or at minimum replaced the bottle with another choice they could stand by. That's just part of the etiquette of the wine retailing business. This store manager would not. The manager tasted the wine and said it was good. Definitely not true. How do I know? I was President of a major Imported Wine company and have also had represented many imported wine clients when I operated a promotional marketing agency. The manager said he would not give a credit for a wine "I did not like." He would only give one for a wine that was spoiled. That policy is a poor excuse for selling an inferior product and then refusing to provide a refund. This wine was not acceptable by any standard, spoiled or not. They have good prices, but it's not worth dealing with some of the rude employees. I am definitely not going back anymore.

A bit delayed posting this review.... Prior to Thanksgiving I pre- ordered 5 cases of champagne and Pre- Paid for the entire order for a party I was hosting the Saturday after the holiday. When I went to pick up the champagne on the Friday after Thanksgiving, I was informed that they had sold two of the cases I ordered to other customers. Mind you I HAD PAID FOR FIVE CASES.. Obviously, I asked to see the manager. He informed me that yes, that was indeed true but he could have the other two cases moved from the warehouse to the store and I could pick it up on Saturday. (day of party) Obviously I could not return so I asked the manager to give me two cases of champagne he did have in stock. Each bottle happen to be a dollar more and out of customer courtesy I asked the manager to please cover the difference which amounted to 24.00 dollars He refused and stated he would not cover the expense and I was responsible for the difference .Seriously folks??? So I cancelled the entire order , received my credit for over 500.00 and vowed never to return. BevMax lost a loyal customer that day!! Bev Max failed to deliver the promised goods I pre-paid for. In reflection, this was the worst consumer experience I have ever encountered. This manager needs to be re-trained at the very least and tutored in best business practices. I come here often to stock up, reasons being the prices, the enormous selection, & the quick service. They have a large staff who always offer you help. The checkout ladies are always give quick and friendly service. The prices are really great! read more
