I'm sure everyone's insurance plan is different but I paid $59 for an eye exam/contact lens fitting which is cheaper then costco so it was a no brainer. I arrived at the location and was shocked to see a storefront like any other optometry office with the glass frame selection against the walls, etc., I forgot to take pictures. Service was amazing. Dr Hoang took so much time explaining everything to me, more than any optometrist I've had in the past. I learned in much more detail about my astigmatism, my reasons for my dry eye and though I'm too young to have this issue - I have early signs of cataract - I need to be careful about wearing sunglasses with UV protection, etc., I am so happy I decided to check them out. They are legit and I highly recommend it.

This review is specifically about the psychiatric unit inside this hospital, where I was admitted because I was struggling with depression and anxiety. This was, without a doubt, the most terrifying experience of my life. Instead of receiving the support and care I desperately needed, I felt like I was placed in a unit with patients who had much more severe psychiatric conditions, which made me feel extremely unsafe. If my family hadn't advocated for me, I honestly believe I might not be here today. There were multiple times when my heart was racing uncontrollably. I repeatedly told the staff how serious it felt, but it took more than 30 minutes before anyone properly checked on me. I genuinely felt like I was in danger, and my concerns were ignored. One of the most disturbing moments of my stay was waking up because I felt wires being attached to me. When I opened my eyes, a male nurse was in my room laughing while my hospital gown was completely open, exposing my breasts. I was only wearing my underwear and had not been woken up or given the opportunity to cover myself first. I felt humiliated, extremely vulnerable, and like I had no control over my own body. I was admitted on a Friday, which meant I had to stay even longer because the psychiatrist didn't want to see me. When she finally came, she spent less than three minutes with me before making her assessment. Even though I was never aggressive, violent, or disruptive, I was kept there for another two to three days. I participated in every activity, followed every rule, and all I wanted was to be with my family. I have never been someone who causes problems or is a danger to others I was simply a young person going through an incredibly difficult time. One of the most frightening parts of my stay was feeling unsafe around other patients. Older male patients, including one who appeared to be around 60 years old, would come near me, and I experienced unwanted touching on my legs while I was asleep. I reported how unsafe I felt, but in my experience, nothing was done to adequately protect me. I felt dismissed, ignored, and like nobody believed what I was saying simply because I was there for depression and anxiety not because I was violent or dangerous. I am now 20 years old, and I have never attempted to harm myself again or hurt anyone else. Looking back, I truly believe what I experienced deserves accountability. My mother filed a complaint by phone regarding what we believed were serious instances of negligence, but as far as we know, nothing was ever done. No one seeking help for depression or anxiety should leave feeling more traumatized than when they arrived. I sincerely hope this hospital makes meaningful changes to the way patients in its psychiatric unit are treated so that no one else has to go through what I experienced. (My heart rate was over 150, and those 30+ minutes felt like they could have cost me my life.)

The convenience is all for UCLA. They will charge you for an in-office visit. Additionally, if the video call is 5 minutes, they will also use a 20-29 minute in office visit code, which is their minimum charge per the billing rep. Potentially understandable if a semi-complex medical question and semi-complex medical files. That means if you have an HDHP that is $500 for a 5min phone call to ask if a common medication may be right for you. I emailed to ask for advice and they say, oh ok, let's get a video appointment. Did I know I will be charged? Yes. Did I think it would be more like $200? Yes. Was it? No. No matter how many times I asked them if this was correct after I got the bill. Did I pay it? Unfortunately, yes. Lesson learned and hopefully this review is a lesson for UCLA office to make it very clear to advise patients that a Video Visit will be charged as an in-office visit. At least offer the cheaper phone call consult. Also, 500 for an in office visit is also exorbitant. Anyways... PS. Also, beware of hidden charges for an annual visit. They tried to charge $100 for a portion of the annual screening that should havr been covered under preventive care or something they did not do (extra consultation). They force you to spend an hour with billing to get them to waive it and you have to research and explain why they made a mistake.
