BHC is a stellar roofer. I live on a south Philly street where neighbors are always doing improvements and intensely vetting contractors before hiring. So when i saw their fleet of trucks decend on my street a few years back, efficiently and respectfully doing a neighbors roof, I decided I was going to jettison my old roofer and hire BHC. BHC is a very well run, responsive, personable, respectful, and conscientious business. They come when they say they will, do only what's needed, and provide fair value for their services. The workers are straight forward in their explanations, taking photo evidence of the roofing conditions to share with the home owner. They discuss what needs to be done right away and explain the options available, which is good to have if working with a budget. They follow up with reminders if the roof is coming due for maintainence which is a nice service. Outta sight, outta mind is human nature, so i appreciate the reminders for recoats, etc. The roof is not something to leave to chance, especially with the crazy weather experienced lately ( strong winds, hail, torrential rainfall, etc). I recently had a clogged downspout (from some tree debris) that was pooling water on the roof and BHC was out within a few days of my call. No job is too small when it comes to their customers. I sincerely appreciate that kind of respect and service. I am so glad I found BHC Roofing! We went with BHC Roofing for total roof replacement. A leaking roof is your worst nightmare, but the whole experience of dealing with BHC roofing can't be smoother. From the back office to their actual project team, every step of the journey has been dealt with efficiency and professionalism. The team arrived at our house at 7 am and they were in the process of cleaning up by 11 am. During the process, there was minimum noise and they were very honest about the roof conditions in terms of what part of the decking needed to be replaced and what looked good. I'm very happy with the prompt service provided by the BHC team. We had our roof repaired by the company a little while back and everything seemed fine. During a recent rain storm we noticed water coming into our home. I called BHC and spoke to Melissa who arranged for a team to come out to investigate. They came to our home the very next day when the weather cleared, and determined that it was a faulty rain gutter and repaired it quickly. Even though this wasn't part of the original work they did, they fixed it with no charge. We had more rain a few days later and the issue was gone!! We have had an ongoing issue with a gutter along a slightly pitched roof at our house in Center City. It's been a problem on and off for years, with water leaking behind the gutter and into our windows and sometimes ceiling causing damage. After some heavy early Spring rains we had leaking again, which caused more ceiling damage. We called BHC and they sent a team to our house immediately to do a quick caulking repair to stop the leaking until a permanent fix could be done. When Bill came by to discuss how we could achieve a permanent fix, I suggested replacing the roof and gutter hoping that we could find the root cause and just be done with it. But after inspecting the roof and gutter, Bill thought the copper roof was in good shape and there was no reason to replace it. He came up with a solution of fitting and sealing new copper flashing under the edge of the roof and into the gutter. It's been several months with sporadic heavy rains and we've seen no problem...and we didn't have to incur the cost of a new roof at this point. The teams that came to do the initial quick repair and the permanent fix were very professional. They called before they arrived, were courteous, and informed us of exactly what they planned to do and when they were finished. Just came to clean my neighbors gutters... their blew a lot of the dirt literally onto and into my window without a care. Came onto my property multiple times with equipment without asking despite no trespassing signs. Very unprofessional. Don't hire if you value the relationship with your neighbors. It was a pleasure working with them from start to finish. I called to get a quote and got a response that day. The salesperson arrived within a day or two and got me the quote immediately. Once I accepted, the work was completed about 3 weeks later. I was away for the installation day, and when they discovered major wood rot, they called to let me know how much additional costs would be incurred to repair, and they were repaired to replace a joist and the plywood immediately, all in the same day, and I thought the additional price was very reasonable based on the damage they sent me photos of. Friends, not all heroes wear capes. In this case, they wear blue hoodies. We had a terrible leak late on a Saturday night. We knew we had to replace the roof soon, so this was the last straw. BHC was one of several companies we had gotten quotes from a few months prior, before pausing on the project and planning to revisit it in 2023. I send Bob a frantic email late that night, asking if the quote was still valid, AND if they could also tear down the roof deck that came with the house in order to do the full roof. Other companies would not take on the demo as well, and when I priced out options for the demo alone, it was going to cost more than the roof itself. Folks, I woke up on Sunday morning--Easter Sunday, no less--to a note from Bob sharing the the quote still good and confirming they could also demo the roof at a fraction of what other companies said. We spoke first thing on Monday morning, and Bob scheduled the demo and replacement THE VERY NEXT DAY. Luckily, another client had requested they push their job back, so The foreman was able to fit us in the next day. Tuesday morning, six roofers from BHC arrived and got to work. Demo, roof, and cleanup was all done by 5pm. And it was beautifully completed. My neighbors even shared how professional the crew was in terms of keeping the sidewalks as clear and clean as possible during the whole process. It was a seamless process that blew my mind. Bill is very personable and professional in all interactions; the crew got the job done very quick and the pricing/quote was lower than the other company that looked at my gutters. The only gripe I had is that they got the job done so quick, it seems rushed and maybe too quick. When Bill told me they were done and all set, I looked up and noticed the gutter at the front of my house was completely missed and wasn't re-secured. It was in my original photos that I sent them as problematic areas when I first contacted them via yelp; and I also pointed it out during our initial appointment. It was also one of the more obvious ones thats why I noticed it right away. Bill did apologize and rectified the situation right away, and he assured me, that was the only one that they missed. From start to finish, everything with BHC was top-notch. I had some active leaks and when my skylights were delayed, they came out to seal parts of the roof since rain was coming. They came out again to caulk my old skylights, which began leaking just at the start of the virus shutdown. The roof work was done this week and the crew did a great job. The estimator gave us a highly detailed quote for the project, along with a price-per-foot estimate for potential joist replacements. He was very helpful and thorough in answering all of our followup questions. The crew was able to complete the job in just two days. This included the repair of our interior parapet wall as well as new framing and a new bitumen roof. Last year, after less than a year in our first home, we started noticing random leaks around the edges of our house (window frames, water stains on walls near the windows, etc). We had several roofers come out to repair our drains and gutters (those repairs lasted maybe a few months). Bill was the only roofer willing to turn down gutter/drain repair job, explaining that the source of our problem was related to the flow of water off of the slate portion of our roof. At the time, I thought that he was just trying to up-sell me (our slate looked ok & would cost tens of thousands more than a gutter repair), so I'll admit I ignored him. This year, our leaks got worse & it became clear that Bill was right - our slate roof was in really bad shape! It looked ok but supports in our attic were clearly in disrepair (and had been getting patched for years from prior owners) & our leaks were now in the main areas of the house as to the edges! I reached out to BHC to do the job because of Bill's integrity the year before. I'm SO happy that I did! BHC really took pride in everything that they did to rebuild & replace our roof: removing the roof in sections to ensure that we were water sealed at the end of each workday​ (important because it's been a rainy mess in Philly); taking the extra time to repair & replace rotted wood (you'll be surprised at how many companies did not mention wood repair & replacement in their estimates - just throw new shingles on top); sweeping my property & and my neighbor's deck each day (our house is a twin); and even painting old vent pipes at the top of my house to match the color scheme of our new shingles. The workers arrived each day like clockwork at 7:45 AM to set up and start by 8:30 AM! They also came each day of the week until the job was done (~9 days). During the process, I got several calls from my neighbors to get BHC's card, but also to compliment the quality of work that was clearly being done! There was a huge storm since getting our new roof and we slept comfortably - not having to hear water dripping or clean up indoor puddles. I tried to scheduled a quote with BHC and was given a date nearly 2 weeks out (in comparison all other roofers I called were able to quote me within 2-3 days). After the 2 weeks, the technician that was supposed to come, did not show up during the scheduled window. After I reached out via email to ask about the visit, I received a call saying essentially "sorry, this doesn't normally happen (no call no show) but I've been very booked with other clients". This is an awful excuse. I simply asked him to keep in touch BEFORE he needed to reschedule and asked when HE would ACTUALLY be available to come by. He told me in a few days, after the snow storm he would try to come out again. On the day of the appointment, he did not show up during the scheduled time AGAIN and I only received a call from the receptionist AFTER the appointment window. The receptionist offered to reschedule again but I declined. Clearly there is no respect for customers time. They do not need my business, they are clearly doing just fine. I only gave them so many chances because of how well they were rated. I ended up getting the work done by someone I had talked to 2 days from the start of my problem. I have called upon Bill and his team twice. Roof and leak issues have plagued my house since before I bought it, for years and years. Nobody has been able to find the issue. The first time, Bill suggested we try replacing just the siding (he had noticed some places where there were gaps and that siding was old and needed replacing regardless). The team came and did an incredible job-- however, the leaks persisted. So he returned. We did more thinking and chatting. The leaks were getting way worse. The nor'easters were hitting us hard this season and we were getting some serious water damage with mold happening in our bedroom ceiling. Bill and Anne worked some magic and managed to have their team come and replace my entire roof (and patio roof) in a day and a half, right before the 2nd storm in a week hit. And now, I am sleeping peacefully. BHC truly saved my house from even WORSE damage. And for a completely reasonable cost! BHC Roofing out of Bridgeport (Conshohocken) is a wonderful local roofing company. I contacted Bill thru a friend of mine nearly a year ago to make a repair on a flat roof at my house in Philadelphia. He came out the next day to survey my roof which had a minor leak. At the time I was not ready to make the repair but I told him that I would certainly call when I was ready. The leak got worse so I quickly called BHC Roofing and got the replacement flat roof scheduled. Bill honored the original pricing even though it was from a long time ago. The guys got the job done in just a day and I was sent pictures of the job as it was occurring. Turns out the sheathing of the roof was totally rotted out so thank God they got here when they did or I would have been in big trouble! It was a row home in Philly so they needed to access the roof by going OVER the A Frame roof in the front of the house to get to the back (to avoid going inside). This was not a problem at all for them. They even did some masonry parging at my request (at no charge). Bob initially came out to the house and scoped out my Chimney with his drone and he was really helpful in getting a team out to fix my leak ASAP. We recently purchased a new home. Within a few weeks of purchasing the house a massive wind storm essentially blew the roof off. We asked neighbors for a recommendation and were told - you can't go wrong with BHC Roofing. I called, Bill was on site within hours and had an estimate (complete with aerial pictures) to me same day. The proposed cost was extremely reasonable - much less than what I expected even though the damage was actually worse - and BHC was on the job two days later. They finished two days after that and the bill exactly matched the estimate. Great work, great communications, great price. Love this company! Prior to BHC doing my roof, I had many roofers/ estimates... even one I kicked to the curb mid job! Then BHC. (Pause- clouds opened, Angel trumpets). Bob, the estimator, came out. Very pleasant. HEARD ME (IMPORTANT!), explained things clearly. Afterwards, I asked for a few adjustments via email. Every request was answered promptly, and above and beyond polite. Because I had the beginnings of a porch roof installed (note "kicked to curb" mentioned), I had plywood over studs. It rained a few days prior to the scheduled job. I called and said "wood is a little wet, reschedule?". They postponed for two days. Day of installation, crew showed up, were very accommodating to a few cosmetic "tweaks" (I have mild OCD). "Show us and we'll do it". They explained things that I was confused on ('cause, you know, youtube said something different... PEOPLE! Don't watch youtube DIY!) Left the property cleaner than when they came. Beyond polite and respectful! Price was in line with other roofers. I'll have them back in a heartbeat. Melissa and Ann in office were great, also!
