By far the coolest bicycle museum I've ever seen. I've seen a few of these bikes in personal collections but every bike I could dream of under one roof was incredible. One of a kind bikes you won't see anywhere else. Went to check it out and spent 2 hours drooling! Lots of cool memorabilia non bike related as well. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. I even got to go into a room that was only viewable from the outside to get a closer look at some incredible pieces. I'd highly recommend check this rad spot out if you're into bikes. Love love love it here! The place is HUGE. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by smiling faces but aren't overwhelmed by them. Even if you aren't a bike enthusiast, you can and will appreciate all of the different styles and types of cycles throughout the years. Several significant bikes in American history are in this museum along with other artifacts. There is something for everyone! You can easily spend hours here and still not see everything if you're really interested in the details. Reading this for the volume, it's absolutely five stars. As for organization, maybe not so much. If you are in two bicycles from the 30s to present, this is definitely a place you need to check out. If you are looking for older stuff as I was, they don't have as much stock. There were a handful of 1890s and early 1900s bikes, but the bulk of their stuff was more middle of the 20th century. We were riding around the Mexican War Streets and got decided to ride over- they have racks for bicycles right outside the entrance. this spot is certainly funky and off the beaten path. despite living in pittsburgh for over 6 years, i had no plans to visit here until a close friend was in town and had it on her bucket list. you'd definitely miss it if you weren't looking for it - it's not readily apparent. when we came inside, we were greeted halfheartedly by the woman who runs the nail salon inside the building and were otherwise greeted by who we think was the owner and another guy working there but only to tell us there was a second floor, and our experience was mostly us wandering aimlessly looking at the mass effect of thousands of bikes everywhere. personally, it's not my niche and i probably won't be back - it's the type of place that you need some pre-existing interest in to appreciate. my friend, on the other hand, was thrilled. she loved the experience and was very happy that we made the adventure. if this sort of thing is your jam, it's certainly worth a trip. read more

A friend and I were looking for something to do in Pittsburgh that was cheap, and we decided to go to Bicycle Heaven. The admission for the museum is free so you can just walk right in when you get there. There are two floors full of cool looking bikes from a whole bunch of time periods and even some from movie sets. Along with those, there were display cases of all sorts of knick knacks and the walls were covered in pictures and posters. Super super neat place and definitely worth the trip. The owner was there when I went and was very personable and appreciated our visit. If you're into bikes, museums, or fun things to look at, this is a good stop. My review is for the repair shop, not the museum. I took in a bicycle to be assembled as I wanted it done correctly. When I dropped it off, it was with the addendum they would show me how to change gears as my experience is with 10 speeds. They finished the bile in about 12 days which was good. When I picked it up, the repair guy was not there. Two guys at the front window were friendly but hyper and had no desire to spend 1 minute showing me how to change gears. The gear selector was not set correctly. I called and left a friendly message that it needed adjusted and I wanted the agreed upon 5 minute tutelage on how to change gears. They never returned my phone call. A big mistake with me. I have an identical bike that needs assembled but it won't be there. I was going to buy accessories while there but was turned off with the hyper ness. I wanted very much to like this place but could not. The museum itself seems to be very good. They even have a nail salon. As I said, I was not there for the museum. read more

Today well venturing around Pittsburgh after stopping in Randy land we were directed to the most awesome museum I have ever been to in my life...Bicycle Heaven!! This was definitely a walk down memory lane, bicycles all the way back from the 1800 and forward. This is definitely the place you don't want to miss if you're come in to town to Visit!! It has an amazing laid back atmosphere, I believe it is completely free to walk in and view all there is to see. you can easily make a donation or buy something to help out as well. they have an amazing selection of refurbished bikes and parts, as well as a mechanic to service your bike as well. An eclectic place to visit and get some cool photos but hard to get to by foot. This place is located in kind of an isolated location that is far from most other site seeing places in Pittsburgh. It's about a 40 min walk from children's museum and Randyland. On the way there, we passed trough some not so great neighborhoods, so I'd recommend that if you're walking to not do it alone. Once you get there though, you'll be amazed by the HUGE collection of unique bikes and small toys. It's quite the experience. We spend about 25 min there and took some pictures. There's also the option to rent a bike for a day from this place, but it's a bit pricey and you have to return it back to this place at the end. If you are looking to rent a bike I'd recommend Healthy Ride instead. read more

This might be the most awesome Museum in Pittsburgh. To start with, it's absolutely free. But if you're over the age of 40, you will recognize more than 80% of the bikes from your childhood. Remember those weird banana bikes with the gear shift in the middle of your legs? They've got everyone ever made. Even if you don't like bikes and hate being around them, the pure colors and shapes in this place Boggle the mind. This is an absolutely non disabled friendly building. If you're in a wheelchair it's going to be difficult to get around. But every local and tourist absolutely must see this place. read more

Finally came here after years of hearing about this place on various online posts of things to do in Pittsburgh as well as from friends and colleagues. This is such a fun and eclectic shop, primarily bicycles, easily over a thousand of them, from all different periods of significance. It's hard to imagine this all started from one mans passion for collecting bicycles, but it sure is inspiring. Even for people who don't know bicycles well, you'll find to herself relating to a lot of pieces in here fir a variety of reasons. One of my favorites has to be of a bike stuck found in Ohio that literally is stuck in it and the old school bikes that come with their own baseball bat carrying device. I don't care if you haven't had a ride on a bike since it still had training wheels on it or if you only ride a stationary one at the gym, this place is a must see when in Pittsburgh, whether you're a cyclist or not! Located in an industrial complex off the beaten path is this warehouse/museum, home to hundreds of thousands of bikes! I have never seen so many bicycles in my life!! It's really mind blowing!! All shapes, styles and colors. Themed bikes, ones from every generation too. Two floors, countless rooms of very cool bikes! History lessons, tv and movie bike stars too. Our favorites were definitely the Beatles and Elvis bikes on the second floor, The Pee-Wee Herman bike and the tree that grew around a bike! Locate the funky room with day glow painted gears in the back of the second floor. The music and disco ball activates when you enter the space! Trippy man! Definitely don't miss this if you have children!! The kids also loved Pee Wee movie playing on repeat. If it were up to them we would have just plopped down the the couches right there and watched it all day. Also check out the garages where they are assembling and fixing newer bikes. Well worth the time to drive to this FREE Pittsburgh treasure. You can't even imagine the number of bicycles and unique items here. They even have a train circling the ceiling in the one room. Very cool. They don't charge but a donation box is inside. We also bought a T-Shirt representing Canton street, steeping street around! Definitely stop in. Bicycle Heaven is incredible, the only place I'll go to get my bike serviced. Jason, the mechanic, was so helpful he even fixed the bell on my bike - helping me with absolutely everything I could ask for. I got my bike fixed up the same day and it only took about an hour, which I spent checking out their incredible bike collection in the museum. They have some really really interesting bikes such as pee wee Herman's bike with the tiger on the handles and even quite a few gas powered bikes. By the time I was done checking everything out my bike was fully serviced and went home with an array of cleaning equipment for a very affordable price. I will definitely be back next time I need something installed or fixed! read more

If you've ever trolled eBay for vintage bike parts you probably already know of Bicycle Heaven. I'd say Craig is one of the biggest dealers of vintage Schwinn parts on there. When we were in Pittsburgh visiting and I found out he had a shop I had to go check it out. The store/museum is in a rather nondescript industrial area, but he has quite a few signs marking it so its pretty easy to find. Once you enter, you can see why he chose this space. The first floor is a large space where he keeps the highlights of his collection and his office. He'll then direct you towards the back through a door and up some stairs. That's where the half dozen other rooms full of bikes, frames and parts live. I make it a point to visit any bike shop I can, and I've never seen anything like this before. While his collection is mostly american bikes and overwhelmingly consists of Schwinn's, it's an incredible collection that spans decades. Not everything is for sale, but if you're looking for something specific I have no doubt he has it or can find it for you. It's also worth spending some time talking to Craig, he has some great stories about his time collecting and the bike he has. This place is fantastic! If you're a bike enthusiast or can appreciate such a vast collection, stop in Bicycle Heaven. Tucked away in the north side, admission is free yet they do accept donations. Family owned and operated, this place is truly a little slice of heaven for any bike enthusiast. Craig, the owner, has done such a fantastic job of preserving all the historic pieces. The place is huge and there's lots to see, do not forget to make your way upstairs to the bike tree found in rural Ohio, where a bike grew intertwined along with a tree. Cool sight to see. I cannot review services I have not had a bike tune up here yet but, Stopped here with a meetup group a couple weeks back and they put air in my nearly flat tires for me for free super nice. Then there's vintage bikes, airstream stuff, pee-wee hermans bike Early Schwinns and JC Higgins. Banana seat bike's galore. 2 rooms are freee to view the other 5 or so require a small donation. Look this place is rad the owner is friendly so stop by and give a little donation and support Bicycle Heaven. It is worth it and easy to access from the bike/ running path that runs from north shore to south side and beyond. read more

So I went to meet a friend to ride the North Shore trail the yesterday. The day before my husband had tried raising my bicycle handlebars. When I got the bike out of my car at the trail, I noticed that my handlebars were very loose, and did not appear to be fully connected to the front fork. I tried fixing it, to no avail. I had no idea what I was doing! I made an emergency call to Bicycle Heaven. They immediately took me in, explained that I had a compression gasket holding my handlebars in. At least that's what I think, I'm not very good at bicycle repair! LOL that being said, they immediately fixed it and I was back on the trail in less than 20 minutes from the time I called them! This place is amazing and Craig's collection is PHENOMENAL. There were biked from the 1800s and futuristic looking bikes. The shop/museum not only feature bikes but really awesome vintage collections of The Beatles, Elvis, etc. Got a chance to meet Craig, and he was very friendly and helpful. Chatted with him a bit about bike events, and the trail in the store's backyard that leads to Washington DC. Only complaint (and not much of) are: probably a good idea to put more directional signs around the shop (for direction illiterates like myself) and maybe put stories about the bikes a little higher up so you don't have to crouch. Definitely a must go to place when visiting Pittsburgh... Bike lover or not! read more
