I didn't purchase anything here so I can't give it a full review. I came in and was immediately greeted and there was good attention to my concerns. I had no air in my tire and was concerned I needed a new tire. But I was told I only needed air which was free and highly appreciated family owned business from a very cute and humble couple. They were as sweet as pie and made you feel like a kid taking your bike to a mechanic lol which is a good thing. Nice place, I will be back if I need anything else. read more

My review is really 4 1/2 stars. Don't seem to have that option. The crew did good, quick work, and offered polite service. They fixed my broken gears with quality parts. I requested a general servicing - can't verify that happened. I still have a squeaky ride and brakes, but overall the bike works much better, and I will certainly return there. read more

Spent 700 on a new commuter bike. Was promised a fitting for buying through them, which is important for me; I have knee, back and shoulder problems, easily exacerbated by a poorly adjusted bike. The "fitting" consisted of one guy eyeballing while I rode, and making absolutely no adjustments - no measurements were taken, no changes to how tall the seat rode, no attention paid to how far back or forward the seat was positioned. Everything looked "good enough" to them, so they were done. After I rode the bike home, I found they hadn't even bothered to air up the tires. I believe in buying local instead of online. Local businesses add value to the community, and you can get service there you can't get from online retailers. But if you're going to give customers the same level of service they receive from Amazon - well, why not just shop at Amazon? read more

These are the nicest people ever in town. I went into get cleats for shoes and pedals, and they put in the cleats in my shoes. Dolly helped me find the right pedals. I've bought 2 bikes from them before. They are the best, very knowledgeable and kind people. After looking at bike shops all over the area to find a good, sturdy commuter bike I found this place to have the best prices for what I needed. They offer high quality bikes at good prices. I had fantastic service here. The friendly staff helped me decide what kind of bike suited my needs and even looked in the back to see if they had anything suitable for me at a lower price point. I ultimately decided to buy a Trek Dualsport I. They helped me decide what extras I needed (lights, water bottle cage, phone holder) installed everything and showed me how to use everything. Everyone was extremely kind and took the time to make sure I was getting what I needed. While I was there, many other patrons came in to pick up or drop off bikes for repair. You could tell that the staff here takes the time to build relationships with their clients and they seem to be good people who really know their stuff about bikes. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking to get into bikes. read more

After spending $500.00+ with Bicycle Toy and Hobby at Christmas time, I returned in January to use a gift certificate I received from a charity fund raising event. Rather than quietly letting me know they preferred not to honor the gift certificate, the owner had a childish temper tantrum in the middle of the store advising the other staff that they would no longer honor gift certificates from that organization. I was appalled at such behaviour from an adult. If he had handled the situation more professionally, I would have purchased what I had intended to get with the certificate. I had taken my bike to another store first (it was a little closer to me) but they said that they were unable to help me. Bicycle Toy & Hobby was able to help. I was fully expecting to have to leave my bike overnight and was prepared to pay $50.00 plus for my repairs. They were done with my bike the same day and the charge was only $22.00. They were extremely friendly. I will make them my first stop for bikes/repairs from now on. read more

Dolly and her family run this bike shop that everyone in the area knows by the huge bicycle on the roof of the building that has been there for 75 years. I went there to get the seat on the Trek we bought from them adjusted, and learned more about the way this shop forwards cycling in the community! They are going to have a class for beginning cyclists, as well as group rides over the Spring and Summer all over the Triad area. They provide excellent customer service, and are willing to take the time with you to explain some tricky gear situation, fix any problem you have, and make you feel like a regular! read more

The best shop around. Family owned into it's third generation now. High end stuff but good deals are always to be found and reliable work. Also supporters of community biking activities. I think the name is really Bicycle, Toy & Hobby, but it's just bicycles now. Look for the giant bicycle on the roof. Within a few hundres yards of Hwy 68 and Main St (Hwy 311). read more
