I drove over an hour to get my new pair of Keens. Pricey, but well worth it.

When I lived in Greensboro I frequently shopped here so when I needed a new pair of hiking boots I knew this was the place to come. They have the absolute best selection in this store. The sales people are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Although pricey, you get what you pay for and I was interested in quality shoes.

Well I don't camp. Not even a little. My idea of roughing it is a hotel with the door on the outside and no waffle maker. That being said my family loves bugs and being outside smelling like smoke and sleeping on the ground. These guys can help with that stuff. Very friendly staff and easy to find everything. Yes prices are high.... They are high everywhere. Bu everywhere doesn't sell hiking underwear. (Didn't know that was a thing) Yup. If you like the outdoors this is the place.

BERT BERT BERT!! The most solid dude in all the REI lands, hands down! I came into this location and needed a full kit for a week long trip in the Colorado mountains. I was looking at the packs and he came right up, told me to throw it in with some weight and really test it out. This surprised me just because I didn't expect him to put weights in it and let me shop with it on. Bert took the time to put me in front of a mirror, show me how to properly wear the black, and then he made all the adjustments with me wearing it. He then explained how he had the older version of the pack and that he loved it and had used it for a few years. Bert talked to me about how to properly pack out the bag and 100% sold it. I wore this pack in -20° weather and hiked all over the mountains with it. I need to pickup some straps and a few other things and it'll be perfect! Thank you Bert, you're the dopest out there and I hope people come to this store and specifically ask for you. You are a rarity and I hope REI acknowledges you for your professionalism.

I was greeted and offered assistance while comparison shopping for an electric bike for my college student. The floor assistant was knowledgeable about the bikes, warranties and maintenance.

We love this local outdoor sporting goods store. They always have everything you need. The staff is wonderful. They always make sure you understand how to use everything or how everything fits. I'm so happy they hire such experienced hikers, cyclist, runners etc. I'm happy to know when I don't know to do use something they do.

They try to be accessible but there's a hint of Stalinism here to tell you the truth.

I've been an REI co-op member for many years. It's great to be able to walk into a store to check out the outdoor gear before buying it.

Do they have a big section of paddle boards?

Yes, a real good selection. Plenty of different brands also.

You just don't find service and care like this anymore. Several years ago I bought a 70's three-speed bike online. Three speed bikes have a special place in my heart because that was the first kind of bicycle that my grandfather bought for me back in the '60s. Right before the pandemic one of the pedals fell off and for 3 years it has been sitting in my shed. I decided a few weeks ago to bring it to a bicycle shop to get it replaced, and I am so glad that I did! Recycles is located on Spring Garden Street right by Mendenhall which is where I lived when I went to UNCG. Lots of nostalgia visiting that shop and parking in the neighborhood. I loved it! I lived in a bottom floor studio by Mendenhall and Carr for $85 a month! Although the shop has the latest in equipment and technology, it has a very old fashioned feel to it that I really loved. What really makes this place tick is its owner and operator, Merritt White. As soon as I walked into the shop with my bike and waited my turn, I was so impressed how personal he was with each of his customers. Nobody was rushed, all questions were thoroughly answered and you felt like he had a personal relationship with every one of his customers, whether they were young or old, replacing a tire or wanting to enhance their bike in whatever way. Merritt had all the answers! He told me to come back in 45 minutes and so I thoroughly enjoyed walking down to Tate Street and visiting my old haunts like the Taylor theater and the music building. Upon my return, my bike was fixed and I was thrilled to have it back. I was so impressed with Merritt and his his shop that I had him also replace the tires on my other old fashioned bike. Now I'm riding around my neighborhood in cool White Walls! Who the hell do I think I am? Lol I happened to notice that Recycles also recycles old bikes ( hence, the name!) and donates them or sells them cheaply to those in need. With that in mind, I donated a really cool red bike that I had in my shed and hope Recycles finds a good home for it. Should make some kid happy! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the place to go whether you have an old bike or a new one. He is very knowledgeable and I marveled listening to him talk to each customer. While I waited my turn, there was a young boy with his mom, an avid racer, a new customer and people from all walks of life. Each one was made to feel special, as if they were family, And it was obvious several customers have a long-term relationship with Recycles. I was extremely impressed with the customer service and the service I received. With the weather getting warmer and Greensboro becoming a friendlier place for bicyclists, I cannot think of a better resource for us to have than Recycles. Conveniently located by UNCG and run by a knowledgeable and personable bicyclist, I would say this is definitely the place to go if you are needing advice, gear, equipment, whether your bike is new or old. In no time at all, Recycles will make you feel welcome. listened to and serviced in the best possible way. Got to go. It's time to ride around my neighborhood in my fancy new white walls! Don't be jealous. Go to Recycles and get your own!!

Merritt (owner) and James were so easy to work with. Quality service that made me feel like home. Merritt hooked my bike up the same day I brought it in and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Needless to say I'd recommend this shop to anyone that needs a knowledgeable bike staff that offers quality service. Mahalo

While their selection was limited due to it being the off-season and changeover for next season's new models, staff was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. My boyfriend is African American and I'm white- not sure if it was a race thing but it's so unacceptable. My boyfriend was nice and kept trying to talk to him and figure out what kind of bikes they had and the guy insisted on continuing to tell us that they didn't have anything for us. Finally he told us that there was only 5 bikes available- but I guess he thought they were out of our price range because he said they're "2,000 though". I guess he thought we couldn't afford it. Overall a AWFUL experience and it's safe to say me and my boyfriend will never return. I would never in my life recommend this store to anyone. Update- called and spoke with the owner to let him know about the service. He was just as rude as the employee, and didn't really seem to care about the feedback. Sad as an owner of a business you don't see feedback as positive and a chance for growth. As a personal trainer very local to this area it's safe to say I will never recommend this to any of the clients I have
