After his client was denied bond, a divorce was filed in March, legally freezing all marital assets. Dennis Waits entered the criminal case on March 30. On April 2, he filed a bond review motion where he explicitly acknowledged in writing that a divorce was active.Exactly one week later, a marital IRA check for was issued. The exact same day that check arrived, Dennis Waits completely withdrew the bond motion. The fight to get his client out of jail vanished the second the cash hit his pocket. He promised his client he could get him released, giving someone in a vulnerable position completely false hope just to lock down a contract and use them as a fast payday. When my divorce attorney filed a Motion to Restrain the respondent and his agents from touching the IRA on April 30th, Dennis Waits' immediate response just days later on May 5th was to file a motion to extend the criminal trial out by months. The judge formally signed and granted the restraining order on May 12th. When confronted as a third party holding funds that a family court judge has since officially awarded to me, his excuse was that he "had a lot of hours in" and that his client paid him for legal fees. I have a clear audio recording proving he admitted to taking these frozen funds. Filing a recycled bond motion only to drop it when a check arrives, and then delaying the trial right after a financial restraining order is filed, raises serious questions about his business practices and ethics. When you look into public records, this scramble for fast cash makes total sense. Dennis Waits has a documented history of public state tax liens, including thousands of dollars in unpaid withholding taxes for his own firm's employees. If a lawyer cannot even manage his own business taxes and owes the state, it is no wonder he would questionably pocket frozen family assets without a second thought. The public deserves absolute transparency regarding the business methods of Dennis Waits.

Unfortunately, my experience with Mr. Pietz has been devastating. From the very beginning, he showed little effort or compassion in representing me. He refused to include critical personal evidence and firsthand experiences that could have supported my case. He was aware that the government was going through reductions in force, and now, during this shutdown, I've been left struggling to pay my balance. I explained clearly that without an approved budget, we lose overtime -- yet instead of understanding, I was met with threats when I couldn't pay immediately after court. I'm a single, hardworking mother with no living family, having just bought my first home nine months ago. I'm trying to refinance and take out an equity loan, so I can't even open a credit card right now. I recently went through an incredibly traumatic and unjust custody case, filled with false accusations and parental alienation. Despite being the stable parent, the court ruled against me, and I'm now ordered to pay child support for the child my ex kept from me -- something I simply cannot afford right now. On top of that, I've faced major unexpected expenses: an emergency root canal and crown, a broken window repair, and now car repairs -- all of which I've provided proof for. I even communicated my hardship to his assistant, who assured me that they understood. Yet when I reminded Mr. Pietz of that conversation, he denied it entirely. Beyond that, I struggle to point to what I paid for. My expectation wasn't just to plead to a lesser charge--that's the basic job of a criminal defense attorney. I expected communication, advocacy, and the feeling that someone was actually fighting for me. Instead he is quite condescding when he even is at fault. Instead, communication was poor. At one point, Brandon referred my mom--who was simply a witness--to another attorney at the another firm. In my opinion, there was no reason my own attorney couldn't have handled that instead of sending me to a colleague and generating another legal bill. It felt completely unnecessary. He will tell you otherwise, but it had no bearing in my case. Things got worse when Brandon went on vacation without telling me. I couldn't get ahold of him, no one showed up when I expected representation in court, and I was left scrambling. I was so frustrated that I took it out on his secretary, and she didn't deserve that. My frustration was with the lack of communication, not with her. When I finally spoke to Brandon, his response was essentially that I had "messed up" and that I was free to find another attorney. That's easy to say after you've already collected thousands of dollars. There was never any discussion of refunding fees or taking responsibility for how the situation was handled. The part that really left a bad taste in my mouth came after everything was over. Suddenly, communication wasn't a problem anymore. I received an email asking me to leave him a positive review, complete with a convenient link. I wish half that effort had gone into communicating with me while I was actually a client. I can't speak for the rest of Roth Davies or its attorneys. This review is only about my experience with Brandon Roth. He obtained a plea agreement, and I'll acknowledge that. But for the amount I paid, the communication, unnecessary referral, and overall client experience fell far short of what I expected. I would not hire him again. I wouldn't even trust him as part of my kid's little league or basketball team, morals left a long ago.
