Are we in heaven?!…read more I'm from out of town and I've been wanting to pop into Lundeen's for a while now with the expectation that it was just a cute little small town stationery shop. No big deal. It looks tiny on the outside, but the further in you go, the more this shop unfolds into a huge emporium of scintillating goodies. When I walked in, there were books. Books?! Gorgeous childrens' books, (millennial) classics I haven't seen for sale in ages (I Spy, The Rainbow Fish, Where's Waldo), there were beautiful cookbooks, chic plant books, educational books, bird books, frog books, books wrapped up in gift paper ready to be someone's surprise read (Blind Date with a Book!), and two little childrens' reading nooks up a couple of stairs at the front of the store! After the books there were games, toys, puzzles, candy, gifts. And then I realized, this place is HUGE. In the back of the store there's a full on Office Depot situation but only the good stuff, plus a print shop. Ink, paper, cardstock, accounting pads, payroll sheets, carbon paper, large poster boards, folders, pens, highlighters, calculators, clips, tacks, and knick knacks. Prismacolor pencils! The good erasers. The good pencil sharpeners. Graph paper. Transfer paper. Sketch pads. Velum! Fine point markers. Like, high end art store stuff. And then. And THEN. I looked to the side of the store and there ANOTHER opening to a jewelry store! And once you go in there, you see an entirely other part of this store that is just as big as the place you just walked out of. Oh yeah, the stationery! They've got beautiful art on single pieces or card sets, but they've got purses, wallets, decor, kitchen stuff, seasonal towels, aprons, plates, mugs, souvenirs, lip gloss, candles, hot pepper jelly, a whole aisle of Burt's Bees, more kid stuff; they even have a little room dedicated to the clearance section. I don't know a lot about this shop, but I can only assume some of this is locally made and a bunch of vendors have their stuff there? Anyway, budget a couple hours and go peruse this place. The shopping here rivals boutiques in the big city, but with all the charm of Fergus Falls.

It makes me want to bring my grandpa just to show him. My favorite author is Edgar Rice Burroughs but it's always hard to find his books in stores. They had an entire box including his Venus series. I felt like their prices were kind of high for used paperbacks, but it's worth it if you're looking for something hard to find. Their prices were cheaper for the Burroughs novels than I could even find online.

I needed to visit a Barnes & Noble store to pick up a tote bag as part of my Premium membership. I decided to take a break from driving and visit this bookstore in Fargo. This B&N is huge! It may be the largest one that I have ever been to. This store is in a plaza, with a Walgreens across from it. I found a parking spot in a rather busy plaza. I backed into it and walked in. There was a lot of merchandise that was cool and different. Boogie Board has Sketch Pals for kids, which looked both durable and fun to doodle on. I tend to find cool gifts at B&N. My best friend likes The Office. I found the perfect The Office-themed gift for her here. I like desk calendars. I didn't get one here, but it was tempting. Peanuts. Cats. Dad jokes. There is something for everyone. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping for me items until my last day in the States. I did get a couple of nice items here. One was a penguin hot/cold pack. I love penguins. I love practical items. This one was perfect. You put this pack in the freezer for cold, which works nicely. I have yet to try the hot option, which is to boil it. I like glass water bottles. I travel with a glass one that has a straw, but I don't have one that is leakproof. I found a nice one at this store that has a frosted look to it and is sturdy. There's a huge cafe at the back of this store. I'd like to sit there, sip on a drink and enjoy a pastry while reading a book. I didn't have that luxury. Maybe I'll do that when I am heading down to the Twin Cities next time. I got to the checkout and had a friendly woman help with my purchases. It was weird dealing with her, as I had given my phone number associated with my membership and having her repeat my phone number seemed to be difficult. I then said that I was here to pick up my tote bag. It was almost as if she didn't hear me. She said that I could get a tote bag. Um, that's what I said. I already own the black one. I went with green because it was Minnesota Wild green. She asked if I needed a plastic bag. I said that it was okay if she put all my items in the tote bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left with my goods. My tote bag was large enough to house my purse and I used it has my personal item when I flew back to Winnipeg. This tote is perfect for travel. It has one pocket that I use for my passport and NEXUS card. The other side pocket stores my cell phone. The main part of the tote held my purse, Grogu Squishmallow, a bag of peanuts with shells, and a lot more. I love it. This store is awesome. I'd love to drop by and spend more time here next time. I walked into the store and was immediately greeted and asked if I was looking for anything…read morespecific. I told him what I was looking for and he immediately led me to the section. One of the books I was looking for was not stocked and so he went to look if he had any else where. He brought back a different version of a book that I was looking for in case I didn't want the one on the shelf and informed me that they didn't have the other I was looking for. I was very pleased with the service and definitely recommend stopping in.
