Be careful if your record player has a smaller table and records get stuck you cannot exchange or return for the price you bought. Nothing wrong with the record player, the owner just said some players can't handle the weight of some records and therefore won't play. He was absolutely unwilling to work with us even though it was completely unusable to us. We had to sell it back to him for $10 less than we bought it for so he made a free $10 and has another PERFECTLY good record to sell. Shitty customer service especially considering the record we wanted to exchange for it was $12 more lmao. Could have made money and kept a customer. read more

Clean, organized, laid back record store with quality depth per artist. Excellent service. Over summer I spent $$ while out of town I bought 4 new vinyl including double albums. One of them had a bad manufacturing defect (label torn and glue covering one side over tracks). After contacting the store they tried to find a replacement but couldn't so I returned and they sent refund. Cheers to Matt for being responsive and professionally dealing with the situation. Super cool store. Parking sucks, as it always does with any place that is downtown in any city, ever, but this shop has a vibe to it. CDs are a bit haphazard, as it is very clearly wanting to be a vinyl store and not much else, but I was just glad to find any and even managed to come across some titles I was after. Dude running it is also aces and I wish I would have had more time to poke around when I was there. Definitely give yourself time to explore, as you will almost certainly be rewarded. I don't know if I'll ever get back again, but I definitely hope to. This is definitely one of the few bright spots in a generally dismal city. read more

While they have a large selection of CDs and new vinyl, especially in the non-popular culture scene, I'm giving 5 stars for the many used vinyl bargains I purchased. With my tastes in music from the 60's-70's-80's, I'm not their target demographic and they price the vinyl from these decades very low. Plus I don't care about my records and sleeves being perfect - I just want to listen to them. I have many that I've purchased in the $1-$3 range - Eagles, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond, Supertramp, Abba, Beach Boys, E.L.O, Billy Joel, Commodores, Kenny Rogers. read more

Orange Records is a very good music store. The size isn't as large as the recently departed Cheapo Disks, but they make up for it with the very eclectic selection of CDs(and vinyl albums as well)! I have to qualify my 5-star rating a bit by saying that if you are looking for mainstream music, you may have a tough time finding what you want (they do have CDs from legendary artists like the Beatles, Ray Charles, etc, so that's not a hard and fast rule). However, if you are interested in rock or rap music of a more narrow genre, it's very likely you'll find something you want here. Orange Records is a fairly new establishment in Fargo. When growing up in the F-M area, I got bored with the city at many times. Now, living in much smaller Valley City, I'm rediscovering Fargo when I'm back in town, and the first time I came here (a few months ago), I realized that Fargo is becoming a rather fun place, largely due to interesting new places like Orange Records. read more

Come on, there's no way you're going to find rad music in Fargo, right? Unless you're into the garbage that they sell at WalMart or Best Buy, you'll have to find your music online or wait until you travel to Minneapolis or another larger city. And if there was a place that had those indie gems you were looking you in the city, you'd imagine that the markup on the prices would be insane. Well, think again folks. I was totally shocked the first time I went to Orange Records. Their selection is fantastic for those indie records that can't be found in the larger stores, and the prices are actually better than I have seen for similar titles in the larger more famous indie stores such as Amoeba Music. Now, they don't have stacks of each selection. They'll probably only carry a few copies of any given title, so you may not find everything on your list. However, I'd say that for new indie records on vinyl, your hit rate will be at least 50%. Plus, you'll stumble across numerous other titles that you weren't planning on picking up, but will grab anyway because the prices are so decent. I'm from Winnipeg and pass through Fargo all the time on my way to Minneapolis, usually only stopping for gas and lunch. Since I discovered Orange Music, it has also because a must-stop location in Fargo during these trips. Do yourself a favour and check it out! read more

New vinyl selection is great and you can pick up all kinds of music. There is a corner with used LP's and 45's. It's a bit limited for used stuff but the condition of the records is excellent and the prices very reasonable. CD's for those who prefer that medium. On this trip I got a mint condition Bruce Hornsby and the Range - The Way It Is, It's a Big Bad Beautiful Day, Village People - Macho Man, Shanana, Huey Lewis and the News - Picture This and Mason Proffit - Come and Gone. All for 23 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick. If I lived in the area I would be stopping in at least once a week. read more
