At 8:15 pm I as informed they close at 8:30 pm. The store was full of shoppers, you would think in this economy, why close so early?

Awful customer service. Not helpful or friendly. Refused to accept my Black Friday coupon. Not going here any more.

I want to start this review by highlighting the representative who helped me tremendously. His name…read morewas Hudson. At first, I got there and I didn't know my ass from my elbow. I walked in and immediately went to the firearm purchase lane. During the 5-10 minutes I sat there, nobody stopped me. It wasn't until I asked another associate who was in the ammo section if he could help me with ammo. He looked at me puzzled and said, "No." Of course I thought to myself, "Okay, maybe I should leave," but then he told me to go into the ammo line. Once I was in the ammo line, I didn't wait long before I was signaled over by another associate. This associate's name was Hudson. Long story short, we started chatting, developed a good rapport, and he ended up saving me a ton of money on range ammunition. What could have been a bad experience turned out to be a positive one, and like I said, I ended up going easy on my wallet, which was great. I highly recommend going to Sportsman's Warehouse for any ammunition or firearm needs, given the knowledge that Hudson had after speaking with him.

Store was a little hectic and busy for a Sunday afternoon. The girl at the gun counter was nice and…read moreshowed me how to get in the queue on the tablet. I get that it is busy. it's Fresno and I'd be strapped too if I lived in a California city with over half a million people. A couch would be an awesome addition to the store for customers to sit in instead of staring at the same pistols and rifles for an hour. Albeit they do have a nice selection of affordable firearms. The salesman that sold me my rifle was Gabriel and he was kind and patient with me. He showed me the how everything worked and made sure I knew how to safely unload and operate it. He was able to find a way to make my real id work with my P.O. Box on it. If you live in a rural area and have a P.O. Box on your id, you need to have something with your physical address on it that has been issued by a state agency such as a fishing license, car registration, utility bill from your city with the state agency on the paperwork and address. It's a busy store and everyone is excited to buy their piece. Be prepared to wait awhile. It's California. Just be patient and have all your paperwork ready beforehand. This was my first time going to a Turners store and everyone there was nice. I read the reviews on here before going and I must say that it's not the staffs fault for the store being busy. They are under an extreme amount of pressure to make every single letter of everything perfect so that you don't waste your time or theirs. The process might be slow because they don't want to mess up your background check over a hyphen in your name or a number in your address. The only reason for the 4 stars is because they could definitely use another person or two at the gun counter to deal with the flow of customers. Also somewhere to sit while you wait your turn. Definitely do some research on the piece you want to buy before going in. You may find out you want something totally different.

559 Armory: Unprofessional, Predatory, and Utterly Disgraceful Business Practices…read moreI recently attempted to complete a firearm purchase at 559 Armory, only to be met with egregious overreach, blatant opportunism, and a complete disregard for customer rights and basic fairness. Due to a minor name discrepancy between my prior purchase record (under a nickname variant) and my current identification--fully documented and legally updated--the California DOJ indicated that the dealer retained discretion to proceed with the transfer. This is standard procedure in such cases, allowing responsible dealers to exercise reasonable judgment and facilitate lawful sales. 559 Armory chose instead to categorically refuse, citing internal policy preferences that appear rooted more in personal or political bias than in any legitimate compliance concern. Rather than honoring their role as a licensed firearms dealer committed to upholding Second Amendment rights, they elected to block the transaction entirely--despite the firearm never leaving their inventory and no actual restocking or handling being required. Compounding this refusal, they then imposed a staggering $300 restocking fee on the full refund of my prepaid purchase (including additional magazines I had legitimately acquired). This fee is patently excessive, punitive, and--based on California regulations limiting such charges in firearm transactions--potentially unlawful when no genuine restocking occurs. The result: I was denied my constitutionally protected right to acquire a means of self-defense, lost significant funds to an unjustified penalty, and received zero meaningful assistance or accommodation from staff who seemed more interested in retaining profit than serving customers. This is not the conduct of a reputable firearms retailer. It is the hallmark of a business that exploits regulatory gray areas for financial gain while cloaking itself in selective compliance. Their website touts "lowest fees and pricing" and "best customer experience," yet my experience reveals the opposite: predatory fees, arbitrary gatekeeping, and contempt for paying patrons. To prospective customers in the Central Valley and beyond: Avoid 559 Armory at all costs. Their practices are not merely inconvenient--they are unethical, anti-customer, and fundamentally at odds with the principles they purport to support. Seek out dealers who demonstrate genuine professionalism, transparency, and respect for the law and their clientele. One star is generous; zero would be more accurate if the platform permitted it.
