We stayed her for a little staycation this year. Recommend the campgrounds. We rented a pontoon for a day and for $400 we assumed we would be getting a clean and cared for boat. The boat was pretty gross. We made due and just avoided those areas. We had initially wanted to pull a tube, woman told us it would pull it. Sure it will buttttt the boat only had a 90horse motor. the tube they rented us for $35 was torn and zipper broken. There was NO way I was putting out kids on that. Thankfully we got our money back on it.

I love coming to Bob Sandlin to fish. The bass fishing can be really good, plenty of areas to fish in this lake. We launch from Barefoot Bay as it is the closest location for us on the lake. This marina was bought out a couple of years ago and they have made a lot of improvements. Live band on the weekends, volley ball with the sand box, BBQ areas with covered Picnic tables next to the launch area. They also serve food ( not the greatest but burgers are good. Only down side I do not like is the cashier is cooking your food as she works the register. To me it does not seem very sanitary doing both. They have a mini mart that sells a lot of snacks, beer, wine and even live bait. They also sell cabins which we have used before. You can rent space for your RVs. Down side, if your solely there for fishing then come early limited boat space for parking. That is the biggest draw back. Only can hold about 5-6 trailers if the other guest parking their cars there.

If you're not familiar with Mt Pleasant KOA in Texas, you need to get familiar! This exceptional…read morecampground is owned by a young and awesome couple named Amanda and Jason Baker. They took this campground a few years ago in very rough rundown condition and have transformed it with lots of investment money and tons of labor into one of the nicest most "pleasant" places you'll ever stay. From the state of the art terraced and beautifully fenced dog park to the immaculately kept fishing pond with fountain, beautiful & totally renovated/updated pool, immaculate grounds, everything is perfectly manicured and maintained. Every single upgrade is obvious that no money was spared, only the best furniture and fixtures everywhere. Level sites, many redone with new concrete. Nicely paved and smooth roadways with sweeping roomy turns, no problems with big rigs, no low hanging branches on roads or sites, we are 65' long. Updated electric, plumbing and 90 channels of crystal clear cable TV! Did I mention the perfect wifi signals? We were the furthest site from the office and were able to stream effortlessly. Immaculately clean bathhouse, laundry, no ruts in roadway, no low hanging branches, the upkeep and attention to detail at this place is just exceptional! The staff is so "pleasant" and Jason is constantly working around the campground to keep it looking perfect. Whether you are just looking for a super clean overnight or want to stay 5-6 days like us, this KOA will not disappoint. Need propane or firewood? Jason will come to your site, pick up the tank, fill and return it to your site, hassle free. I had a bum knee on this RV trip and Jason handling that for me was a treat. The beauty of this place is that they didn't provide that service because of my knee or because they liked me better than others, they do this for everyone! This campground is small but gorgeous with the nicest people owning & running it you'll ever meet! Ignore any reviews about highway noise, ALL KOA's are close to the highway, thats why they are so convenient and the road noise was minimal, some people will just complain about anything. We are 5 hours away in Oklahoma City but I promise we will be back, this place and it's owners really made quite the impression on us! Oh and let's not forget about Brenda their 14 year employee and main office person, she is just the best! -Rob & Crystal Rogers Oklahoma City, OK

There was a grill at the site we were at. No table, but we brought one. It did look like they may have some available at some of the other sites. They have a nice little bathroom/shower house on the grounds for use if needed. Having the boat ramp right there was ideal for taking our kayak out and you can fish off the dock behind the owners house. The dogs that were roaming around did not bother us and the pitbull was super sweet! The area is beautiful and peaceful! Plenty of room to roam. We would stay here again for sure!

The place was so quiet most of the time, I thought we might be the only people actually staying in our RV. There are several other RVs out there, but we saw only a couple people at one of them while we were there. Dogs are not required to be on a leash here. We only found this to be a problem when one pitbull was especially friendly and jumping on us. We have no idea what the 3-4 dog's names were, or who they belonged to. Dogs poop where they want, and no one is picking it up....however, with that said, I never saw one poop near a campsite. They always did their business further out. There are no concrete pads, no picnic tables, no grills, etc here. This wasn't an issue for us, but you might want to know. It was very cold during our stay from January 3-7, 2022. We had no issues with our water, sewer, or electricity. It was a tight fit for our 42' fifth wheel at the first site they were going to put us, so we needed to move down a bit to a larger area. Luckily, there were many open sites, so this wasn't an issue. There are kayak rentals on the property, and lots to do in the area. There is some fracking going on closeby. A generator (or something that makes a lot of noise) ran a lot of the time we were there. Thankfully, we can sleep through just about anything, so this wasn't a big issue for us. It did detract from the quiet during the day, when we would've preferred to hear nature instead. This fracking is not taking place on the RV park property. They have no control over when this noise is going to come and go. I can see that this would be a big problem for some people. It was loud. But, it didn't bother us a lot because we were gone a lot of the time. My husband would probably say his favorite thing on this trip was the Measurement and Time Museum in Jefferson. He spent over 2 hours touring and talking to the owner. I enjoyed the shopping and talking to all the shopkeepers. There were some cute plus size clothes at Yesteryear and also The Front Porch. I'm hard to fit, and picky about the length of my shirts, and found exactly what I needed. We enjoyed the BBQ at Riverport, and the French Dip sandwiches at McGarity's. Service was good everywhere we went. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The Kroger and Walmart in Marshall are nuts! I've never seen a busier grocery store than the Kroger, and I've lived in heavily-populated Arlington, TX most of my life. It was hard to find a parking spot. We were disappointed to find out the local steamboat/paddleboat recently sank and is no longer available for tours. Also, because it was the week after New Year's, many shops, restaurants, and museums were closed for an extended period of time - some all the way to Feb. 1st. I highly recommend calling first before going somewhere, if you're coming in January.
