My soon to be fiance hasn't seen the ring yet - but I couldn't help but write up this rave review about Big Apple Jewels. I found Big Apple through Etsy, among some other jewelers. They've supposedly been around for a while on the online scene (i.e. eBay), but noticed that they don't sell on eBay anymore. Was a bit hesitant at first because of the lack of recent reviews. Decided to give Big Apple and several other jewelers a call. Zak from Big Apple had a heavy accent of sort, but did not pressure me into anything and was very forthcoming with the information. The other jewelers were quite pushy and were constantly trying to move away from what I wanted - Zak was different, he just kept working with me with what I wanted (i.e. choice of diamond, custom setting, terms of sale, etc.). Zak was also to-point, never threw at me any bull poop. He had a diamond I liked, and I wanted it, and that's that! Bit the bullet and gave Zak my business, 5 days later, ring arrives, FedEx overnight priority. Was well packaged. The GIA certificate was all there and authentic. Cracked open the ring box, and bam, I'm blinded by the light! Just kidding, obviously exaggerating, but it was everything I was expecting and then some! Just to double-check everything, I went to a GIA gemologist for an appraisal and everything checks out perfectly. Value of ring was appraised for more than double what I paid for! Their English is not the best, so don't take their shorter emails the wrong way, just communicate with them, they'll respond, and if emails aren't your mode of communication, just give them a call, they always have someone there to answer any questions. Anyhow, A+ experience, better than what all my other friends got from their other jewelers. read more

This place is terrible. I got a pink tourmaline ring that looks beautiful in the picture, however, when I got it it took about 2 months for the first diamond to fall out. They told me to send it back and the diamond is now fixed (or I got a new ring) but it has scratches all over the band where the gem attaches and there's no shine to it it's dull and ugly.
