Came here yesterday to get the latch on my silver chain fixed. I've had to get this same thing…read morerepaired two other times at two different jewelry shops, and both of those places charged me money and made me wait at least 3-4 days to get the chain back. Not Kathe's Jewelry. I walk in there, expecting to just drop the chain off and pay some money for the repair job, but the guy working behind the counter (who I think also co-owns the place???) took my chain to the back for literally 30 seconds and then came back with it good as new and told me it was free of charge. He even gave me an old-fashioned handshake at the end like we were longtime friends. Made me feel like a special man walking out of that place. At any rate, if you live in the East Village or anywhere near it, don't go to any other store for your jewelry repair. The guys that own and operate Kathe's are so friendly and down-to-earth, and it looked to me like they were selling some nice pieces, too. 10/10.

I've had pieces repaired decades ago that have never split open like this. In my opinion, Sash came across as VERY misleading. He talks and distracts you with conversation. He also intentionally adds on additional charges without confirming with the customer, that was fine with me, but at least provide the service you charged for. I am posting this review so that other customers can make an informed decision before spending their money here. If you are looking for reliable jewelry repairs, I would recommend considering the other jewelry repair businesses on the same floor. I went to another guy and he did a fantastic job. I regret spending so much money and hope this review helps other potential customers avoid a similar experience.

Over the years, I've often used Central Watch for basics (batteries and bands). This week I took my beloved Ball Watch (GCT 100 years) for a cleaning. It is 4 years old and I've never had it serviced. I dropped it off and they asked detailed questions about how it was behaving. Every 2-3 weeks it was losing a couple minutes. So, I dropped it off and waited for an estimate on the cleaning and anything else needed. When i called about the estimate, they told me all it needed was a slight "time" adjustment, which they had done for free and checked that it was now accurate. I could pick it up and there was no charge. Wow. I really appreciate the service and the honesty. If you've ever been there, you'll know that I'm not alone. Central Watch is servicing a LOT of watches. This is a great, great shop. I highly recommend them and plan to buy one of their vintage watches because I trust it will be exactly what they claim. read more

Their description was accurate and in speaking with them, they were knowledgeable about the unique functions of this complication watch, and the condition was explained well. The service was great, watch arrived fast and easy, and it's even better than pictured on the website or from description. It is extremely clean for an old watch & is running perfectly in the several days since I received it. It's already has been complimented multiple times. My Baume & Mercier watch has been in family for many years and is precious to me. Surprisingly, it's been incredibly difficult to get the battery changed reliably - some shops have told me untruthful stories about it needing extensive, expensive repairs, others have sold me batteries that have died a short time later and yet others have taken weeks to replace the battery . Central Watch has replaced the battery in my watch promptly, reliably, affordably and durably. Their exceptional service leads me to trusting them with my broken Rolex which has been sitting in my drawer unrepaired for years due to the difficulty in finding a resource I could trust to fix it. This is the place to go for vintage watch repairs. Steve and his staff did an amazing refurbishment of my 70's Heuer. I reached out to Central Watch for an estimate and from that day forward I knew I was in good hands. They are truly experts in their field. This week I picked up the watch and I was blown away. They literally brought this watch back to life. The watch had lost a pushpin, needed a new crown... They not only replaced these parts but found a vintage Heuer crown to match. I had been looking for quality nylon watch straps for some time and came across Central Watch doing a Google search. Their offer of any fives bands for $29.99 was too good to be true and so I selected five and a few days later they arrived. Incredibly pleased! They are much better than anything Brooks Brothers has carried in years and they fit! For years Brooks Brothers carried nice bands, but they seemed all to be made for children! Unbelievable service and professionalism! I brought my vintage Omega Speedmaster (pre moon) watch to Steve and he returned it to me better than new. Not only did he search and find 'impossible' to find parts but he also was kind and patient enough with me, a vintage watch newbie. Steve explained and communicated with me through out the process. In fact he even brought me up to the lab they have above the store and gave me a brief tour, very impressive. I have been taking all of my watches for repair and new batteries for years. From a cracked crystal on my father's Movado, to new bands, to countless new batteries, Central Watch has done it all. I recently brought in a Coach watch that needed repair. They sent me an estimate by email and even called me when the watch was ready. Ironically, after picking up the watch, the battery died. I have sent my Luminox watch into Central Watch a couple of times for battery & wrist band replacement, as well as major work at one time when it was needed. They offer great, quick service, and I was able to get a clear explanation of what all was needed (like an ultrasonic cleaning), with an estimate, via email. I just picked it up today and I am extremely happy. It was almost as if I was transported back to 1974 and got the watch brand new. Central watch at grand central is the best watch repair store in the world. No one in London could replace my battery for under $60 and it would entail a week without my watch. Here within a few hours they replaced the battery for under $20! That was a few years ago - I came back especially and yet again within a few hours and for $17 they can do the job. When I came to the store he again said $10....after he finished he said it was $20. When I tried arguing, he said this wasn't a normal watch? It took him 10 minutes and there is nothing special about this watch that would warrant the extra charge.
