It's easy to enter a conversation with any of them and when asked, they give advice as if they were talking to one of their own friends. The whole atmosphere is easy-going like a place you go to hang out. You don't feel the pressure to buy anything, everyone is there to be helpful. My husband bought a leather vest and got a patch sewn on, then later he picked up a gray t-shirt. That is why I'll keep going back and why I give this five star review. Such personal service. So cool story, we kept buying stuff for the bike...we had bought a pricey helmet that took a bite out of our wallet, so money was tight, but we still wanted to go to Wilson's. We went and I picked up a sticker and we took money out to pay for it. However, the old man cashier we had talked to earlier about our recent purchases and such...He told us, "No, just take it. Internet searches, and YouTube videos, suggest going to an auto parts store for the repair kit. Well I have been driving past this Tandy Leather location for over 20 years. Never once was I curious about the store, beyond the Tandy name. Well when Thuy got it in here mind to fix this sofa, and after watching many a YouTube video, I said, "Hey, what about the leather store on 377?" Thuy read the reviews, and was not optimistic. She decided to call first, and received from very helpful information from Sherry. We decided to go check it out in person. First off, Wow! I can not get over all the options in this place. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. Anything to do with leather is here. Leather of all sorts. Things to decorate leather with. Tools. Dyes. Even project kits, some very intricate. We met Sherry, and she was super helpful. Helped us with repair ideas, gave us some scraps (to put behind the area needing repair), taught us about the special glues used to bond leather, then told us about dying and color matching. So helpful. Thuy thinks she is all set. We also learned there are classes here too. We enjoyed our visit very much. Glad the negative review did not keep us away. If you know nothing about leather, or even if do and haven't been to this store, you should check this place out. Bottom line: What a cool find, 20 years ago!

They took a genuine interest in what I was wanting to do in leatherwork and were glad to demonstrate and reccomend a good choice for my small shop. This is one of Louis Vuitton's only American factories, and it specializes in fine leather goods…read moregiven its location in Texas cattle country. While not normally open to the public, LVMH opened their facilities to guided tours for one weekend as part of their Les Journées Particulières, giving a fascinating look behind the scenes. Located pretty far from Fort Worth in the countryside, this ranch has attractive Western terrain with live oaks, cacti and thick brush alongside winding paved roads with street lamps leading to the large compound of stone and glass buildings with plenty of paved parking. The main entrance building has an attractive front desk and lounge decorated with Louis Vuitton purses and books leading to hallways of framed photos and artwork representing Louis Vuitton history. Once one goes through the enclosed walkway to the main factory there's a chamber with original steamer trunks on display along with a huge mascot statue, and then it's onto the rows and rows of sewing machines, leather working equipment and more. The tour was an excellent way to learn some of the history of the company and facility and learn their attention to detail. While there's no telling when such an event will happen again (I hope it's an annual tradition!), I definitely recommend jumping on it any time it's possible. The factory workers and other employees were so welcoming and informative, and it was well worth the drive from Austin.
