Not busy but got there early and before the lunch hour. Went with a brisket sandwich and a side of Mexican rice. I thought the brisket was good tasting and very lean - not fatty. Had a nice amount of meat so I didn't leave hungry. The rice was a little mushy and maybe should have picked a different side but whatever. I'd go back for lunch. Sadly, this restaurant has gone downhill for the past few years. Food quality has dropped significantly, dining area in dire need of repair (primarily the booth cushions), laboratory is rarely cleaned. I won't be going back. read more

Always eager to check-out the BBQ scene in other city when traveling, I decided to travel the backroads on a return trip from Eureka Springs and pass through Monett, MO for the first time and sample Big Baldy's Bac-Woods Bar-B-Q. They could use a sign up front to advise customers how to order. We waited for a bit of time at the door before discovering a walk-up counter that couldn't be easily seen from the door because of a large centrally placed aquarium. My wife and I shared a combo platter, consisting of a bit of brisket, pulled pork, and chicken, 1 rib, 1/2 a polish, 1/2 a brat and a side of fries and beans. We hade a choice of sauces and ordered mild, it came drenched on top of everything - who does this? The two sausages were excellent and so were the hand cut fries, and the beans and chicken were adequate. That's about all I can say positive. The pork, brisket and rib were fatty, greasy and sub standard. A very generous 3 stars for the sausages and it's because it's probably the only BBQ in the area. Big Baldy would be out of business in 3 months if it was located in Kansas City. read more

Hadn't been there in a while, so I would try lunch. The sandwich was ok, certainly could use more meat and fries tasted like they were warmed up and not fresh. I didn't mention to anyone didn't see the point and that there were other customers around. For the price I expect quality Probably will a while again read more

Very good loaded baked potato though not much meat on it. The pulled pork might be a better choice. Please offer a sour cream side instead of TWO BBQ sauce containers. Place is clean and service is good. We had the platter with 3 meats and fried okra and salad. The brisket was very moist and tender. The other meats were very good. Okra was awesome with a huge serving. The side salad was a good size. We also had the nachos which weren't much to write home about. But if you love bbq and fried okra this place is great. I wish we had enough room to try their ribs but based on how good their brisket is I have to think the ribs are exceptional as well. read more

"Texas" style BBq place. I should have tried the beef ribs. But I got my go too. Brisket and pulled pork. Overall the meet was good, especially the pork. Right consistancy and good smoke flavor. Same goes for the brisket...but, it was very greasy. Originally gave it four stars because of this but doesn't seem fair as everything else was great. Kind of spendy but the portions of the sides were huge as you can see. Okra was great and broccoli is broccoli. Good for the body, week on the soul. NOTE: they will bathe the meet in sauce. I heard great things about this place. I have been there twice now and it's ok. I had fish tacos the first time and nachos, will never get the nachos again. We wanted chicken and beef but had almost no chicken. I was told they were amazing but not that great. I went again for lunch and had one of their loaded baked potatoes. It was pretty good. Being my first time in Missouri, I didn't know where to go for great BBQ. I drove by this place on Highway 60, just across from where I was staying, and thought that it might be at least an average place. I walked in for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. Just another couple waiting for their food. It's a pretty nice place with two large aquariums and enough seating for people with a bunch of cowboy paraphernalia on the wall. I checked the menu behind the registers and it had the regular BBQ fair, but since I'm ordering it to go, I decided to buy just the spare ribs. I ordered two, just in case it was good... I mean, c'mon, you can't go wrong with spare ribs, right??? Wrong!! The spare ribs tasted worst than eating boiled squirrel with the skin after the fur was burnt off. I don't know how they made it, but it smelled like it was soaking in a water bath after it came off the grill. It tasted of a mix of boiled and grilled pork. It also had a smoky odor to it, which made it even worst. More evidence of the water bath was the to-go box had a lot of water on the bottom. My brother ended up accidentally tipping the box in his car and it stunk up his car for a couple of hours. At the end, we ended up only eating 3 pieces because we were so hungry. The rest we tossed out. I usually don't regret spending money on food I've never had before, even when I don't like it, but I really felt sorry I did this time. I also felt sorry for the swine that got slaughtered for the two racks I ordered. Such a waste of two potentially good racks. read more

Well don't eat here. The coleslaw was horribly overdressed, the potatoes salad was more like pickle salad and the ribs were so mushy even the bones fell apart. I had shrimp tacos. It was not shrimp it was chicken. The cook may not know the difference but I do. read more

Great BBQ and has been voted the best in SWMO several years running. You have to try the Redneck Nachos, they are the best. Menu will have something that everyone will enjoy; just remember that it's a Texas style BBQ. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is my girlfriend and I's favorite place to eat. We normally come here at least once a week. She orders the redneck nachos and I order the working man's lunch. They have very large portions here. The working man's lunch is half of the working man's dinner and I still can't finish it in one sitting. Big Baldies has a cozy feel to it and the employees are very friendly. They do serve their food on foam plates with plastic flatware, so don't be surprised when you get it. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

My wife and I used to eat here often. They had large portions with allot of meat. Now they have large portions with hardly any meat. I ate there about a month ago and had a serious stomach ache shortly after. Wasn't sure if it was the food, so we went back tonight. I can tell you now, it was the food.
